All of those times your brain wakes you up 30 minutes before your alarm or just won’t stop replaying that annoying song in your head, that’s just your brain being ‘Scumbag Brain.’ We’ve all experienced it, so here’s a meme everyone can relate to. We present, ‘Scumbag Brain,’ that pesky unpredictable organ that seems to manage to do exactly what we don’t want it to do.

The Mysterious Tale Of The Extraordinary Vivian Maier | So Bad So Good
28 apr 2013 23:51
In 2007 at a local auction house in Chicago, historical hobbyist John Maloof randomly purchased a box of film negatives yet to be developed from an “unknown amateur photographer “. It cost him $380, a lot to spend on an unknown quantity you might say, but in doing so, he discovered one of the most fascinating and remarkable artists in recent history – Vivian Maier. She is now fast becoming known as one of the most pivotal street photographer in the 20th century, yet this 1950′s visionary was a painfully aloof and intensely secret individual. She had never shown a single photograph to anyone – not even her closest friends, yet she’d amassed some 100,000 negatives, 700 rolls of undeveloped colour film and numerous 16mm movies. A 1950′s nanny by day, she worked in quiet isolation in her attic alone at night, sorting and organising through the photographs she’d taken that day. As you’re about to see, her images of 1950s & 60s Chicago/New York are some of the most powerful & magnificent to have ever been taken during that era. “I’m uncovering an artist, if I’m leaving this giant boulder unturned I’d be making a giant mistake.” – John Maloof Maloof sadly he found her obituary notice in the Chicago Tribune back in 2009. Having slipped on some sheet ice earlier, she suffered a severe head injury and tragically passed away aged 83, taking her secrets and wonderful gift with her.

Extraordinary Abandoned Ship Covered In Street Art
28 apr 2013 23:45
What might be seen as a huge rust bucket to some, is seen by others as the perfect canvas to showcase their creativity. That’s the case with the Duke Of Lancaster a huge abandoned ship just off the north coast of Wales. Former graffiti artist Maurice Blunt initially saw the vessel when he was on a train and noticing it’s run down state go into contact with its owners about potentially ’reclaiming’ the ship. His vision was the transform it from a discarded eye-saw, into a floating art installation and thankfully the owners agreed. Soon after he quickly enlisted the help of several prominent graffiti artists (the DuDug collective) to turn his imaginative and grandiose idea into reality. Below are the impressive results – what do you think?

A Closer Look At The Impoverished Biker Gangs Of Tanzania
28 apr 2013 23:40
British and London-based photographer Kit Oates recently (and bravely) traveled to Tanzania to discover the stories behind the biker gangs who roamed the streets trying to make a living from their Toyo’s – the motorbike of choice in the area. "I spent the summer of 2013 in Sub-Sarahan Africa, shooting for an American travel company. I kept seeing bikers on the streets and in the villages, and I wanted to get to know more and find out their story. I ended up spending several days hanging out and travelling with these guys in the suburbs of Arusha, one of Tanzania’s largest tourist towns." For many Tanzanian’s the Toyo bike is the obvious solution when it comes to traversing the rough local terrain, narrow paths and broken rubble that many conventional cars would have difficulty moving through. The affordable bike is imported from China and is now acts as a vital form of transport in both rural and impoverished areas. For many drivers, they serve as a regular source of income by acting as taxi’s whisking tourists across town for a minimal fee. Worryingly though, few riders have a licence or even adequate training, bike related injuries are both common and numerous. It’s often the case that local families own a single Toyo and each generation is then pressured to help make a living from riding it – at the expense of their own safety and those around them. You can see more compelling images from Kit’s unique experience and delve deeper into the characters, stories and tales behind the Tanzanian biker gangs via his official website: http://www.kitoates.com/index.php?/tanzanian-biker-gangs/

DIY Porsche Made Out Of Plastic Pipes and Aluminum Foil
26 apr 2013 09:41
Austrian artist Hannes Langeder is a very proud owner of a GT3 RS Porsche, although it could hardly race with even an ordinary bicycle on the street. That’s because this world’s slowest Porsche was handmade by Hannes using plastic pipes, sticky tape and aluminum foil, and instead of being powered by engine, it only runs as fast you pedal it! The eco-friendly car took the artist 6 months – over 10 000 hours – and 13 000 to euros to complete.
