Turkish Oil wrestling, also known as grease wrestling, is a national Turkish sport, believe it or not. The wrestlers grease up with A LOT of olive oil, after which they pick a team, and get to wrestling. The one who gets a strong hold of the kisbet ( a type of hand-stitched pants made of water buffalo hide or calfskin ) wins. The wrestlers aim to control their opponents by slipping their arms through the kisbet, in a move called paça kazık, and that's why we see the rather inappropriate male on male touching.
Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's controversial socialist president has died today, 3/5/13, at the age of 58. The Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro confirmed as such today.
Chavez was fighting Pelvic cancer and recently returned to a clinic in Cuba as a guest of the countries ailing socialist leader, Fidel Castro, seeking treatment. Since his first cancer treatment in Cuba in 2011, Chavez's public appearances diminished.
Chavez was born in 1954 in the town of Sabenta, Venezuela. Both his parents were schoolteachers. During his time in the office Chavez became a well-known polarizing figure who was a constant thorn in the side of the United States. He was a populist who suppressed free speech and was immensely popular among the poor people of his country.
During the 1990's, the country's middle-class was disenchanted with the country's two primary political parties which both suffered from corruption. Chavez who was an Icon from his prison days promised to rid the country of corruption and pledged to divert revenue from the country's ample oil sales to help the poor, as well as improve health care and education.
Despite the country's oil wealth, unemployment and poverty remain high in Venezuela. Chavez placed blame on thte oil companies, the catholic church, and the US as places the Venezuelan people could pin their frustrations on. Chavez loved taking jabs at the US especially at the expense of former president George Bush. He also stayed on the United State's bad side by befriending America's enemies - Fidel Castro and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Despite all of his promises that he would clean up Venezuela's corruption, his administration was filled with it. He was constantly criticized for human rights abuse and restricting freedom of the press. The Power now goes to Vice President Nicolas Maduro.

PETA is known for picking on celebrties for their furry accessories. They have recently shifted attention from Beyonce and Jay-Z to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Wendy Wenger, PETA's spokesperson commented on the parents-to-be's liking of fur. “Youngsters naturally identify and empathize with animals – so even though Kim and Kanye will undoubtedly serve as poor examples when it comes to kindness toward animals, perhaps their child will take after aunt Khloe and choose kindness by rejecting fur”. Wenger has gone further then just bringing up Kimye's insensitivity to animals, expressing her overall disregard for Kim by stating “Kim is a commodity; she is paid to wear things like fur, a particular makeup, or to shake hands with questionable people, so she is not a good example to a child or anyone else of how to show a social conscience". Wow seems like someone might be looking for publicity.
A girl born in Mississppi is the first child and the second person in the world that has been cured of HIV in 32 years, since the virus became a global pandemic. Until now, such children have been considered permanently infected. Specialists think that the major reasons behind her being cured is the fact that Hannah Gay, a pediatric infectious disease specialist of the University of Mississippi, treated the child immediately and with a higher than usual dose of antivirals. She gave her the first dose within 31 hours of birth, followed with three powerful HIV drugs rather than the "prophylactic" doses usually given to kids in these circumstances. These news have sparked hope for prevention and cure of the disease in future births, and has stimulated funded studies.
