Alyson Hannigan coos over daughter Keeva
05 feb 2013 04:58
She is one of the stars of hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother. And it seems Alyson Hannigan's baby daughter Keeva's first memories of her parent may be of her cooing at her if her behaviour in Los Angeles on Monday is anything to go by. The 38-year-old could scarcely tear herself away from the adorable eight-month-old as she picked up garments in the trendy Santa Monica area of the city.

Camel Wrestling is a traditional sport very popular along the west coast of Turkey, where male camels from local villages are pit against each other in a dusty stadium. The days leading to the grand fight is an exciting one for the Turkish people. The camels are draped with decorative rugs, carved saddles, and bells and walked through the streets, accompanied by music and dance. Camel owners are dressed in checkered caps, customary scarves around their neck, jackets, special pants and boots in an accordion-like shaped. On the night before the tournament, a Hali Gecesi or Rug Nigh is held attended by camel owners and wrestling lovers where they meet new friends and old acquaintances enjoy the food, drinks and generally make merry.

The Hill of Crosses
05 feb 2013 03:57
It sounds like a cheap Hollywood horror movie, but Hill of Crosses is a real place - a site of pilgrimage actually – located about 12 km north of the city of Siauliai, in northern Lithuania. Standing upon a small hill are many hundreds of thousands of crosses that represent Christian devotion and a memorial to Lithuanian national identity. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed on the former Jurgaičiai or Domantai hill fort after the 1831 Uprising. Over the centuries, not only crosses, but giant crucifixes, carvings of Lithuanian patriots, statues of the Virgin Mary and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries have been brought here by Catholic pilgrims. It is estimated that there are over 100,000 crosses on the hill.

Anna Paquin's walk with children
05 feb 2013 03:50
She plays a 'faire' in the hit TV series True Blood, so Anna Paquin is used to dashing in and out. The new mother of twins looked extra sleek - and ready for takeoff - in tight black trousers and a khaki-coloured leather slim leather jacket on Monday as she pushed one of her children in a stroller. The X-Men actress is usually seen pushing a double pram, but Monday, as she sped along her Venice, Calif. neighbourhood, she was behind a single stroller.

The face of Richard III
05 feb 2013 03:48
This is the face of Richard III, reconstructed from the skull found beneath a social services car park that was yesterday confirmed as that of the last Plantagenet king. The facial reconstruction is to be released following the confirmation that the skeleton unearthed in Leicester was that of the king killed in battle more than 500 years ago. The image is based on a CT scan taken by experts at the University of Leicester, who discovered the king's skeleton with the help of the Richard III Society during an archaeological dig last September.

Can You Solve These 55 Lego Riddles?
04 feb 2013 19:11
If you’re into riddles and also like LEGO, we have something very cool for you! To commemorate the 55th anniversary of the LEGO brick, the company has issued 55 graphic riddles where LEGO bricks represent various characters from movies, songs, cultural or political highlights that occurred over the last 55 years. Some of them are a bit more obvious than the others, but constructing the right answer from the hints feels almost like a mental LEGO game. The plastic brick, that’s recognized all over the world today, was patented in its current shape on January 28th, 1958. With the production reaching 19 billion LEGO elements a year, around 400 million people around the world have played with it at least once in their life, and every year kids spend around 5 billion hours at it! Currently there are 6 LEGOLAND theme parks in the world: USA has two in Florida and California, and Denmark, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Germany host one each. Try and see how many of the riddles you can get, and let us know in the comments!

Thankfully, most of their owners have a sense of humor about these incidents and photograph them to spread around the Internet. Twitter Thinks Bane Caused the Super Bowl XLVII Blackout
04 feb 2013 18:55
I'm going to pretend all of these people are hilarious and not morons. When the 2013 Super Bowl was delayed by a power outage, most people took it as a chance to actually talk to the people at their football party. These people decided to make jokes on Twitter that the half hour of darkness was actually ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ villain Bane’s fault. Here’s proof that people have entirely too much time on their hands (you can thank Christopher Nolan later).

Homeless Hitchhiker Saves a Life and Meets 'Jesus'
04 feb 2013 18:52
In most scenarios we’re totally against the idea of picking up a hitchhiker. These people can easily be crazed maniacs. But in the case of this video, it was the driver who turned out to be insane. Kai — a homeless hitchhiker — was hitching a ride in West Fresno with a man who suddenly began proclaiming he was Jesus Christ. Yep, the Lord. “Jesus” then spotted an African American PG&E worker and smashed his Oldsmobile into him, pinning the employee against his own truck merely because of his race. JC then took his wrath unto a woman, getting her in a headlock, to which our fearless and homeless hiker gave Jesus the axe — literally. Kai started hitting the man on the head multiple times with a hatchet. Looks like this instance of picking up a hitchhiker turned out to be a Godsend. If only there were more Kai’s in the world. But the best part? His interview.

Tracy Morgan is Mio (un)Fit In Hilarious Super Bowl Commercial
04 feb 2013 18:49
Mio Fit’s Super Bowl commercial features Tracy Morgan advocating the American knack for change, a move that effectively makes the whole situation absurd. Also, we find Tracy to be an interesting choice–since it is in fact a “sports” drink, maybe they should’ve made some kind of nod towards athleticism other than stuffing the former Tracy Jordan into a tracksuit. Still, if the point is that other sports drinks are boring, perhaps they’ve made the right choice. We for one would love to see Tracy Morgan endorse more products now that ’30 Rock’ has wrapped up. Maybe he could film one of those “Drink Responsibly” ads while wearing his Tracy Jordan ankle bracelet? Or join Jane Krakowski in those Tropicana ads. We want a ’30 Rock’ reunion, is what we’re saying.

Tide’s Super Bowl commercial: the Joe Montana Miracle Stain
04 feb 2013 18:47
Tide’s 2013 Super Bowl commercial takes us through the advent and eventual elimination of the “miracle stain.” Except this time, the stain doesn’t look like Our Lord and Savior. A 49ers fan spills on himself, miraculously creating a stain that looks like Joe Montana. Of course, the story explodes in the media and our football fan’s laundry-ready jersey is glorified and kept under glass. Ah, but the plot thickens–said 49er fan’s wife just happens to support the Ravens, and has a supply of Tide detergent and no qualms about sabotage. The ending needs little explanation, and we’re certain the irony of it is not lost, considering the outcome of the game.
