David Irvine has a knack for uncovering the possibility in items and making them new and exciting once again. He recently released a series called "Re-Directed Art." He took old, boring thrift store artwork and made it into fun, interesting paintings. He "re-directs" the paintings in the sense that with his additions, he changes the focus, theme, or narrative. He uses something already imagined as his canvas to create something new. Check out his paintings below.

It is weird how we perceive this world, and how easy it is to trick our...

Emulsifier is a hand painted sculpture made of 160 glass strips by Austrian artist Thomas Medicus that looks like one of four different images, depending on what angle you view it from. While the anamorphic installation looks like a floating fish from one perspective, it can also look like a flying bird from another. Each image is reveal as the cube-like structure rotates, allowing the painted glass strips to align precisely on each side.

After learning that 5,500 shelter dogs are killed every day in the United States, he decided to paint 5,500 portraits of actual shelter dogs with names and the date that they were killed. Now two years into the project, Barone has painted more than 3,500 portraits which, for any dog lover, are incredibly hard to look at.
