Jakarta Built A Surburban Village On Top Of A City Mall

Depending who you ask, Cosmo Park is an ingenious urban oasis or an ill-conceived dystopia. It is a surreal urban bubble, where normal life unfolds at an abnormal altitude. To access ground level, resident drive their cars down a ramp. A tall metal fence runs around the perimeter to make sure no one falls or drives off. Peer beyond the fence and you can spot the city’s landmarks below.

It was a 2 hours ride on the Shinkansen (bullet train) to get to Shiroishi, Miyagi

Foxes are my guide animal. Whenever I’m struggling the most, they always show up somehow. I have several fox tattoos and I’m probably gonna get more. In January 2017 I traveled to Tokyo to get a TESOL certificate. I live in Mexico, so being in Japan is one of those once in a lifetime opportunity. That’s why I couldn’t let go the chance of paying a visit to the Fox Village.

There is a village in Burkina Faso called Tiébélé, and something sets it apart from the rest in the area. The people living there have relied on an ethic of isolation to not only preserve their way of life and their culture, but also to preserve their houses. These houses are artfully crafted, simple, yet ornate structures. When one sees the efforts and care put into these homes, one realizes why the village would be so protective.
