No More Nude SF
23 nov 2012 09:29
Every year it seems like more and more nudists appear in San Francisco. Some just do it for the gay parade, and others take their clothes off on a regular basis. If you're trying to catch one try the Castro district, where Scott Wiener, a city supervisor of the well-known gay community, introduced the ordinance after an increase in the number of habitual nudists and a rise in complaints from residents and business owners. Looks like San Francisco isn't quite as liberal as we all thought it was.

Russian Graffiti Artist Turns Buildings Into Giant Characters
22 nov 2012 22:37
Russian street artist Nikita Nomerz not only creates art, but he uses it to manipulate the world around him. He’s the creative wizard behind the following graffiti artworks – rather than using unreadable fonts or lazy stencils he actually transforms every day buildings into giant and often creepy characters. He carefully tailors his work around the structure of the building or object itself, fusing them seamlessly together. Dull landmarks become scary & studious faces, blank walls are blasted with colour and local chimney’s are given a whole new perspective.

Over the famous Greek temple at Delphi was inscribed the motto, ‘Know thyself’. But if this is the type of entertainment you choose for yourself on a regular basis, you might want to go to a doctor and have your...

Date Rape: Sublime
19 nov 2012 16:02
When you make light of a heavy topic, you risk trivializing your subject, and that's exactly what Sublime does with this 1992 ska-punk cautionary tale. Frontman Brad Nowell's heart was probably in the right place — the song's villainous rapist winds up in prison, where he learns what it's like to be violated — but the silly lyrics (“he was butt-raped by a large inmate”) and fratty execution undercut the message. A lot of dudes who blasted this at college parties totally missed the point.
