Tracy Morgan is Mio (un)Fit In Hilarious Super Bowl Commercial
04 feb 2013 18:49
Mio Fit’s Super Bowl commercial features Tracy Morgan advocating the American knack for change, a move that effectively makes the whole situation absurd. Also, we find Tracy to be an interesting choice–since it is in fact a “sports” drink, maybe they should’ve made some kind of nod towards athleticism other than stuffing the former Tracy Jordan into a tracksuit. Still, if the point is that other sports drinks are boring, perhaps they’ve made the right choice. We for one would love to see Tracy Morgan endorse more products now that ’30 Rock’ has wrapped up. Maybe he could film one of those “Drink Responsibly” ads while wearing his Tracy Jordan ankle bracelet? Or join Jane Krakowski in those Tropicana ads. We want a ’30 Rock’ reunion, is what we’re saying.

Homeless Hitchhiker Saves a Life and Meets 'Jesus'
04 feb 2013 18:52
In most scenarios we’re totally against the idea of picking up a hitchhiker. These people can easily be crazed maniacs. But in the case of this video, it was the driver who turned out to be insane. Kai — a homeless hitchhiker — was hitching a ride in West Fresno with a man who suddenly began proclaiming he was Jesus Christ. Yep, the Lord. “Jesus” then spotted an African American PG&E worker and smashed his Oldsmobile into him, pinning the employee against his own truck merely because of his race. JC then took his wrath unto a woman, getting her in a headlock, to which our fearless and homeless hiker gave Jesus the axe — literally. Kai started hitting the man on the head multiple times with a hatchet. Looks like this instance of picking up a hitchhiker turned out to be a Godsend. If only there were more Kai’s in the world. But the best part? His interview.

Twitter Thinks Bane Caused the Super Bowl XLVII Blackout
04 feb 2013 18:55
I'm going to pretend all of these people are hilarious and not morons. When the 2013 Super Bowl was delayed by a power outage, most people took it as a chance to actually talk to the people at their football party. These people decided to make jokes on Twitter that the half hour of darkness was actually ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ villain Bane’s fault. Here’s proof that people have entirely too much time on their hands (you can thank Christopher Nolan later).

Thankfully, most of their owners have a sense of humor about these incidents and photograph them to spread around the Internet. Here are out favorite photos of animals getting stuck in hilariously precarious situations.

The face of Richard III
05 feb 2013 03:48
This is the face of Richard III, reconstructed from the skull found beneath a social services car park that was yesterday confirmed as that of the last Plantagenet king. The facial reconstruction is to be released following the confirmation that the skeleton unearthed in Leicester was that of the king killed in battle more than 500 years ago. The image is based on a CT scan taken by experts at the University of Leicester, who discovered the king's skeleton with the help of the Richard III Society during an archaeological dig last September.

The Hill of Crosses
05 feb 2013 03:57
It sounds like a cheap Hollywood horror movie, but Hill of Crosses is a real place - a site of pilgrimage actually – located about 12 km north of the city of Siauliai, in northern Lithuania. Standing upon a small hill are many hundreds of thousands of crosses that represent Christian devotion and a memorial to Lithuanian national identity. The precise origin of the practice of leaving crosses on the hill is uncertain, but it is believed that the first crosses were placed on the former Jurgaičiai or Domantai hill fort after the 1831 Uprising. Over the centuries, not only crosses, but giant crucifixes, carvings of Lithuanian patriots, statues of the Virgin Mary and thousands of tiny effigies and rosaries have been brought here by Catholic pilgrims. It is estimated that there are over 100,000 crosses on the hill.

Haitian amputee makes comeback on dance floor
05 feb 2013 05:38
Georges Exantus thought he'd never dance again. He was lucky just to be alive. The earthquake three years ago in Haiti's capital flattened the apartment where he was living and he spent three days trapped under jagged rubble. After friends dug him out, doctors amputated his right leg just below the knee. Israeli doctors and physical therapists who came to Haiti after the quake sent him to Israel for surgery and rehabilitation. Three years later, the 31-year-old professional dancer is back on the floor, spinning away as he does the salsa, cha-cha and samba. A prosthetic leg doesn't hold him back.
