Andrew Mason, now-former-CEO of Groupon, resigned today. Well, actually, he was more fired, really. And he told everybody. How do we know? Because he also publicly released his own letter of not-resignation, because it was going to leak anyway. Here’s what it said. (This is for Groupon employees, but I’m posting it publicly since it will leak anyway) People of Groupon, After four and a half intense and wonderful years as CEO of Groupon, I’ve decided that I’d like to spend more time with my family. Just kidding – I was fired today. If you’re wondering why… you haven’t been paying attention. From controversial metrics in our S1 to our material weakness to two quarters of missing our own expectations and a stock price that’s hovering around one quarter of our listing price, the events of the last year and a half speak for themselves. As CEO, I am accountable. You are doing amazing things at Groupon, and you deserve the outside world to give you a second chance. I’m getting in the way of that. A fresh CEO earns you that chance. The board is aligned behind the strategy we’ve shared over the last few months, and I’ve never seen you working together more effectively as a global company – it’s time to give Groupon a relief valve from the public noise. For those who are concerned about me, please don’t be – I love Groupon, and I’m terribly proud of what we’ve created. I’m OK with having failed at this part of the journey. If Groupon was Battletoads, it would be like I made it all the way to the Terra Tubes without dying on my first ever play through. I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to take the company this far with all of you. I’ll now take some time to decompress (FYI I’m looking for a good fat camp to lose my Groupon 40, if anyone has a suggestion), and then maybe I’ll figure out how to channel this experience into something productive. If there’s one piece of wisdom that this simple pilgrim would like to impart upon you: have the courage to start with the customer. My biggest regrets are the moments that I let a lack of data override my intuition on what’s best for our customers. This leadership change gives you some breathing room to break bad habits and deliver sustainable customer happiness – don’t waste the opportunity! I will miss you terribly. Love, Andrew What? Listen, don’t get us wrong, these are way better than if we tried to translate a movie into a language that doesn't even share an alphabet with us. But the thing is, we would never try to do that, because we know it would be terrible. At least these foreign bootleg versions of your favorite TV shows and movies sound entertaining. In fact, we would probably even enjoy them more than the originals. *Especially* ‘Pepe Loves Tacos,’ because what the what is that even supposed to be?

Aside from looking at how much we owe, it isn’t very often we take a really close look at our receipts. You know– the small print at the bottom or the description of items, because there’s really no reason to do so. That is, until now. It turns out receipts are a hidden goldmine of humor. For over 40 years, The Muppets of ‘Sesame Street’ have been teaching children in the U.S. to read, count, recognize shapes and play well with others. Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and the rest are nationally known superstars. But kids in other countries have their own versions of ‘Sesame Street,’ complete with unique casts of loveable Muppets. Here are 10 characters who teach kids around the world.

Peter Bailey, 27, was taking his dog for her evening walk along the beach in Tenby, Wales, when he came across this unusual sight. He snapped some pictures of it, because he had no idea what it is, and now it has earned the name The Beast of Tenby. Bailey told the Western Telegraph, “Immediately I thought it was a horse, but it had claws like a bear and a body of a pig. Surprisingly, it didn’t smell.” Dr. Dan Forman, a professor at the Swansea University, told the Sun that its toes suggest it could be a badger. Now we are terrified of badgers. This isn’t the first time a bizarre creature has washed up on shore in recent months. Back in July, there was the case of the “Montauk Monster,” a dog-like beast that turned up on shore in Long Island. What do you think the Beast of Tenby could be? Are you afraid to go in the water? She made her bladder gladder, but her wallet sadder. A Tennessee woman who ran into a restaurant to use the bathroom before running back out got a bill from the eatery for answering the call of nature without ordering anything. Back in October, Patricia Barnes zipped into The Flood Zone in Erin, Tennessee and asked an employee if she could use the restroom. Barnes got the okay, did her business and then left. A few days later, she received a bill for $5 in the mail, along with a letter from the restaurant (addressed to Mrs. Edwards — that’s her husband’s last name) saying there’s a sign hanging up informing people there’s a $5 charge for non-customers using the restroom.

James Edward Welborn Jr. probably didn’t have primate theft on his mind when he broke into Julie Harris’s home in Mobile, Alabama. But there was Gizmo, a two-year old lemur, and Welborn allegedly snagged it along with Harris’s TV. The problem with stealing an exotic animal is that it is much more difficult to pawn off than electronic equipment. So Welborn gave Gizmo to his sister to look after, under the guise that it had belonged to a friend who had been deployed to Afghanistan. When Harris started to post signs offering a reward for her missing pets, Welborn came up with a plan to ransom the lemur. With the help of his accomplice Brian Sanders, Welborn arranged a meeting with Harris. “It’s kind of like a bad Disney movie,” George County Sheriff’s Detective Ben Brown said of the pair’s attempt to extort Harris, who had contacted the authorities. Sanders was arrested in January during the drop and the lemur was returned to its rightful owner, unharmed. But Welborn eluded capture. That was until last week, when Welborn was pulled over on a routine traffic stop. He now faces charges for possession of stolen property Having finally got their man, the George County Sheriff department had a message for all those who would engage in ape-napping. “We don’t put up with any monkey business in George County,” Sheriff Dean Howell bragged.

Police in the Cayman Islands are on the look out for a local woman’s tooth. They may well find it still stuck in the hand of the man who “stole” it from her. What had happened is the woman awoke early Friday morning to find a burglar in her house. The thief tried to silence her screams by putting his hand over her mouth. And that’s when she used her chompers to her advantage. Her bite was vicious enough that it chased the invader out of the house. But it was also so vicious that he left with one of her teeth still lodged in his skin. The woman was treated at the hospital and released. Even if the police do find the missing tooth they won’t be able to reattach it because too much time has passed. Oh well, at least she’ll always have a good story about when she took a bite out of crime!

During last night’s episode of CONAN, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ co-star Julia Stiles admitted she has some creative fans. A group of Julia-addicts took it upon themselves to generate the ‘Julia Stiles On Things‘ Tumblr page. Naturally, some are quite silly; however, believe or not, others are pretty legit-looking. Why is the star of ’10 Things I Hate About You’ grasping for dear life onto everything from Keyboard Cat to the cast of the ’80s Cher classic ‘Mermaids’? Hey, it’s the internet. In general, restaurants avoid dirt in their food, lest they raise the ire of paying customers and/or the health board. But a high-end restaurant in Japan is taking a different approach by serving a $110 full-course meal where dirt is actually the main ingredient. At Ne Quittez Pas, a Southern France-inspired restaurant in Tokyo, Chef Toshio Tanabe is offering a menu that includes potato starch and dirt soup, a salad with dirt dressing, sea bass with dirt risotto, dirt gratin, dirt ice cream and dirt mint tea. (What, no dirty martini to wash it down?) A fearless critic at RocketNews24 actually tried the pricey meal and found that it surprisingly didn’t taste like dirt. Instead, she described it as “divine,” “delicious” and at times “complex.” Sorry, but we’re still not convinced. After all, $110 is a lot to pay for dirt when there’s plenty already in our backyard. Much like the Overly Attached Girlfriend, Cecelia Gimenez, the lady who accidentally painted a Monkey Jesus this summer, is using her internet fame for good rather than evil. After selling an original painting on eBay, she plans to donate all $1,427 earned to charity. So there’s good news and bad news. The good news is $1,427 more has been raised for charity. The bad news is we live in a world where somebody will pay $1,427 for a painting by the Monkey Jesus lady. To be fair, it is somewhat better than her attempt to restore the Ecce Homo fresco in her church: And, just in case you don’t believe me, here are the final results of the auction:

Nicolas Cage has been in eight movies since 2010. There is also evidence the interestingly-haired actor was around during the 19th century. Add that to an internet movement to Photoshop Cage into all situations and he becomes Hollywood’s most omnipresent star. Matheus Candido is one of the leading proponents of the Nic Cage as everyone meme, having Photoshoped Cage as everything from ‘The Avengers‘ to ‘Black Swan.’ For his latest effort, the upcoming Peter Jackson film ‘The Hobbit‘ gets “Caged.” Hobbits were difficult enough to tell apart when they didn’t all have the same mesmerizing mug. On the other hand, if Cage really was playing all the characters in ‘The Hobbit’, which is quite possible in this brave new world of CGI, it would be a pretty unique and amazing intersection of over-acting and furry feet. And if you’re still longing for more Cage than some jokey meme can provide, don’t worry. The prolific 48-year-old looks like he will be in about a half-dozen movies next year, including ‘Kick-Ass 2′ and ‘On Frozen Ground.’

It’s hilarious when people’s clothes don’t fit! Basically, “Baby Heading” is just making a baby’s head stick out of grown-up clothes, and then photographing it. It kind of reminds us of Dog Shaming in its mockery of completely unaware subjects. Although that’s basically half of the internet (the other half is cats). In case you missed it — Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion dollars. They also own Marvel now too. To put it in other words, all that stuff you liked as a kid to prove you’re not a girl is now owned by the people who made ‘Beauty and the Beast.’ (On the bright side, the next ‘Kingdom Hearts’ game could be totally sick.)
