That Commercial Where Shinji Kagawa Plays Soccer With a Talking Dog
22 apr 2013 20:00
In Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa’s first season with the Red Devils, he’s collected five goals and three assists in 17 appearances, including a nifty hat-trick against Norwich in February. But, but, but. But. Those stats are mongoose turds compared to this commercial Kagawa shot for Japanese telecommunications and Internet company SoftBank, which features, besides Kagawa, a talking dog and beluga whale. Just yeah. This commercial makes no sense and the Japanese is machine-gun fast. The folks at 101 Great Goals have a transcription of the dialogue, which, if accurate, also makes no god damn sense, but it’s Monday morning, the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet and life makes absolutely no sense until Friday afternoon. Might as well watch the commercial below and laugh at how ridiculous the beginning of the work week is. Because Mondays are goal-scoring dogs.

 “world’s largest game of Pong”
22 apr 2013 23:04

Watch this video of what is claimed to be the “world’s largest game of Pong,”  played on the side of Philadelphia’s Cira Centre, a 29-story skyscraper. The impressive installation was created by Drexel University professor Frank J. Lee. The building features a programmable array of 1500 light emitting diodes that attracted the attention of Frank Lee, co-founder and co-director of the Drexel Game Design Program. Lee has long been fascinated with the potential to run games on the Cira Center's lights and last year got in touch with its owners, who were amenable to the idea. Here's the outcome.

10 People Who Need To Be Punched In The Face
23 apr 2013 16:04
Everyone at LOLJam Head Quarters, we all practice pacifism and have genuine respect for the human condition. In fact, we promote love, peace and soul*. However, there are a few people who could benefit from a good old fashion punch to the face. Not out of disrespect or hatred, okay, maybe one or two, but more so out of love if anything. Sometimes, a right hook is needed to knock some sense when a person has either gone crazy or turned into a douchebag. So if you're out and about and spot one of these punchable faces, be a friend. *Unless, of course, your gangsta is tested.

8 Outdated Marketing Strategies For Rappers
23 apr 2013 16:15
Problem #1: Setting release dates too far in advance So many things lead to the date never sticking anyway. The artwork's late. The guest artist you were counting on didn't mail in his verse. Your paycheck's short and mastering can't be completed on time. Whatever the case, the misfire only leads to a letdown and building mistrust with fans. Possible Solution: Wait. That's right, just be patient. It's okay to talk about the project and say "it's coming soon" and "we're finishing it up." But don't set a hard date, at least not until all of the pieces are firmly in place. Then and only then should you run to the top of your city and start yelling out the release date.

Incredible Images Of Teenage Freight Train Hitchhikers
23 apr 2013 16:24
This unorthodox (& partly illegal) journey began 9 years ago, back in 2004. It was during that year that photographer Mike Brodie would throw caution to the wind and hitchhike numerous US freight trains documenting the life of a group of his friends – wayward teenagers, adventure seekers & high school runaways. From taking in the view from the rooftops of train carriages to sleeping amongst the rough banks of the railroads themselves, Brodie was there capturing an incredible moment in time. It all began when Brodie initially found a discarded Polaroid camera tucked behind a car seat, that was the very moment that his passion and love-affair with photography started. To date his adventures have seem him travel over 50K miles, snatched a lift from 170+ long haul freight trains and passed through 46 US States in the process. We’ve rarely seen photographs with such character and soul. There’s a rawness to Brodie’s work, a reflection one would think on the ramshackle nature of his environment. The images below were shot using 35mm film, providing a rich tapestry to his exhilarating and unique journeys. You can see more from Mike’s compelling collection via his official website: http://mikebrodie.net/

Jimmy Kimmel Tricked People At Coachella
23 apr 2013 16:41
I love this clip. I love it so much. So, so much. Like, T—-H—-I—-S much. Here’s what’s happened: Jimmy Kimmel Live sent a correspondent to Coachella to ask some of the quasi-hippies in attendance about a bunch of hip, new bands that played this year’s festival. As you can imagine, people were very excited to talk about how much they love the innovative, fun sound of bands like The Chelsea Clintons, or how they used to spin Two Door Cinema Club’s debut album, DJ Cormeal, on their Canadian community radio station, like, all the time. There’s only one small catch, really a non-issue in the grand scheme of things: Most of the bands the Coachella attendees were asked about do not — in the most technical, rigid sense of the word — exist. I have watched this video three times, and after a great deal of consideration I have decided that my favorite person in it is the dude on the left in the above screenshot. He takes approximately zero seconds to throw himself headfirst into the notion that there’s a band called Obesity Epidemic, and that he loves them. It’s beautiful. He’s like a character Paul Rudd would play if he made a cameo in an Apatow-produced movie about a young couple who ends up at a music festival. But seriously, you guys have to see Get The F*ck Out Of My Pool. They wail.

'30 Rock's 'Old Spanish' Was Referenced In 'Mad Men'

I was too distracted by Stan’s mustard jacket to notice, but during the world’s most awkward bar scene since that time a rabbi, priest, and minister walked into Allah-coholics Anonymous Tavern, Peggy’s boss Ted ordered an Old Spanish, a drink favored by pen-desiring politicians who look like turtles and are named after hamburgers. That’s because the Old Spanish isn’t real; it was made up by 30 Rock. According to writer Tracey Wigfield:

Whether you’re six years old or sixty, it sucks to get your bike stolen. We’ve just about all been there at some point. The thief is usually some soulless dick who in no way took the bike with noble intent. And if you ever do manage to re-claim your trusty, two-wheeled method of transportation, it’s usually beat to hell and forever tarnished. Such a bummer. Well, none of this is the case for the Redditor who just shared three wonderful images with the caption: “3 nights ago my bike was stolen. It just turned up back in my yard this morning with this note… Ain’t even mad.” Let’s take a look at the return note and attached payback and meet on the other side.

He is thought to be among 14 previously confirmed human cases of H7N9, and is the second person from Zhejiang province to die from the new bird flu strain, with the other four fatalities in Shanghai.
