New Crazy Resident Evil Attraction At Universal Studios Japan!

Universal Studios Japan recently opened their latest adrenalin pumping attraction. It's a live-action shooting attraction called "Biohazard The Real" and is basically a simulation of the Resident Evil. Visitors are equipped with a 700 gram 'model gun' that has thirty virtual bullets before they enter in groups of eight. The attraction has two stages. First one has two routs, the Racoon City Police Department and the Hospital. When the first stage is cleared the group enters the Umbrella Research Center for some serious action. The goal is obviously to shoot the zombies and other creatures that pop out at you at every corner in the final battle to eradicate the virus. The whole thing takes around ten minutes and is one of the scariest and unforgettable experiences out there. Check out these pics.

On average, the distance from Earth to the moon is about 238,855 miles (384,400 km). Here's a little imagination fun from a space enthusiast Ron Miller for you. He created these cool images of how the sky would look if other planets were as close to us as the moon.

Mesmerizing Graffiti GIF of "Hypnocat"
26 jul 2013 12:20
In a university hall in Santiago, Chile, there is a graffiti work depicting an intricately illustrated, colorful cat. It has drawn the attention of a few passersby on its own but since a copy of its image was shared digitally, the internet has transformed the stationary stenciled work into a mesmerizing gif now widely revered as Hypnocat. The entrancing animated image making its rounds on the internet plays on the spellbinding character Hypnotoad from the animated television show Futurama. Much like the hypnotic dancing eyes of the cartoon amphibian, this Hypnocat's psychedelic body has all that come in contact with it chanting "ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOCAT." While the identity of the artist behind the original work is unconfirmed, the mural appears to be tagged by a Chilean street artist who goes by the moniker pos 420. Check out the original wall mural, below.

Michael Jackson Patented Shoes To Perform His Gravity-Defying Lean
26 jul 2013 12:17
In 1993, Michael Jackson, along with Michael L. Bush and Dennis Tompkins, filed for a patent on the “anti-gravity” shoes they invented. These special shoes had a triangular groove in the heels that caught onto a bolt sticking out of the stage floor which allowed Jackson and his dancers to lean forward beyond the center of gravity. The King of Pop used this gravity defying illusion to wow audiences in live performances of the song “Smooth Criminal.”

Blind WW2 Veteran Creates Incredible Pixel Art With MS Paint
26 jul 2013 11:52
It’s never too late to learn. 97-year-old World War II veteran Hal Lasko, who is now legally blind, proves this by creating a series of stunningly detailed pixel paintings on his ’95 Microsoft Paint. Hal, also known as Grandpa, only discovered computer art only in his 80′s, and hasn’t let go of it since! Back in the day, Hal used to work as a typographer, creating various letter fonts from scratch, so drawing was deep in his veins. “We got Grandpa a computer about 15 years ago. I knew I had to show him Microsoft Paint, and once I did, he just took off with it. And it wasn’t till years later that we realized how important it was to him,” says Ryan Lasko, Hal’s grandson. Hal is suffering from wet macular degeneration, which causes weaker sight in the center of it’s field. However, when working with a computer, Grandpa can zoom in and build a whole painting from small details. His paintings are described as “a collision of pointillism and 8-Bit art”. Check out this amazing art and a touching documentary short by Josh Bogdan about Hal’s life journey.

Clever Mad Men Quotes Reflect Character Words of Wisdom
26 jul 2013 11:30
If you ever wondered which Mad Men character you were most like, it's probably best to take a better look at each of their ideologies. Luckily, there's a Mad Men Motto gallery on the hit TV show's Facebook that lays out some of the best lines delivered by the tumultuous cast, revealing their outlook on "life, love, and libido." The clean, minimalist style of each panel reflects the show's focus on simple yet appealing design with an equally basic red, black, and white color palette. It allows one to focus on the significance of the text, extracted from the brilliant script. The cynicism, fresh quips, and witty retorts of the clever cast of characters are all captured with just a short sentence or two.

Expressive Photorealistic Oil Paintings of People in Water
26 jul 2013 11:28
There's something both sensual and tranquil about artist Linnea Strid's photorealistic paintings. The Stockholm, Sweden-based creative's oil paintings depict intriguing portraits of people drenched in water. Strid is able to depict the translucent liquid so effectively that it allows viewers to truly believe that they are looking at a photograph rather than a painting. The fact that the expressive faces distorted in the reflective water is so brilliantly executed creates an added layer of emotion that translates off the canvas. Despite the crystal clear water washing over a sense of calm in the viewer's mind, the gifted artist's growing collection of artwork manages to alternate between moments of serenity and panic as her subjects submerge and emerge from their watery encasements.

Bite Your Way Out Of Tuesday With Some Wolverine GIFs

It's a good year to be Wolverine. He's got a new movie that's looking to clean up at the box office, a rebooted series that's well worth reading on the stands, and he might be the star of yet another franchise in X-Force. So, to celebrate, we deploy the GIFs. This is pretty heavy on the Jackman because, let's face it, GIFing movies is pretty easy and it's not like Jackman's visage is this eye-searing monstrosity. We did find a few neat shout-outs to the comics and video games he's been in, though, including on that's highly relevant to the new movie.

This Was The Summer Of 1969 In New York City

As Bryan Adam’s famous declared in his song ‘The Summer of 69′ "Oh, when I look back now That summer seemed to last forever And if I had the choice Yeah, I’d always wanna be there Those were the best days of my life” He probably wasn’t wrong. It was a fascinating period in America, which saw not only the Woodstock Festival capture the imagination of music fans the world over, but it was also the year the US landed on the moon. Both of those highlights were tempered with the Stonewall riots and the grizzly Manson murders that whipped celebrities into a frenzy of panic. Here’s a few photographs from the sweltering heat of New York City in 1969, a look back on the free spirit, fashion and individuals that defined an era.

Spooky Algorithmic Images Create The 'Face' Of A Film
23 jul 2013 15:09
Every film you’ve seen, no matter what type of format or device you’ve seen it on, is a continuously moving composition of frames. But stock standard movie posters aside, how can you truly encapsulate a film’s mood & its characters? Well, enterprising and artistic duo Shinseungback + Kimyonghun have come up with a succinct solution for that very question. Together, they’ve pulled together a series of faces from the likes of The Matrix, Black Swan, Avatar and Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and created an algorithmic composite of frames used in the movie which contain faces. They’ve used a facial recognition tool which automatically detects any face every 24 frames – as the movie continues, frame by frame, it begins to generate “the face” of the film itself. The images themselves provide a haunting almost dreamlike summary of the films they represent, The Matrix for example contains the dingy green colour filter used throughout the film, whilst the Avatar composite is ambiguous and gender neutral. What movies would you like to see them generate next? Let them know, by getting in touch with Shinseungback + Kimyonghun via their official site
