18 Reasons Benedict Cumberbatch Cult Is Strong
16 may 2013 16:40
J.J. Abrams. Zachary Quinto. Chris Pine. Zoe Saldana. Alice Eve in her underwear. And yet all anyone can talk about when it comes to Star Trek Into Darkness is its batches of cumbers, in the form of Benedict Cumberbatch. In the past year or so, the Sherlock star, who plays an unspecified role in Abrams's movie (meaning, I don't want it spoiled) has became an Internet cult sensation — he even has his own fan club, the Cumberbitches. But why is he so beloved, possibly even the most beloved actor on the Internet right now? Let's find out.

Countless film actors have starred in a number of biopics, depicting a range of historical and cultural figures, but how accurate is their physical likeness? By juxtaposing images of fully costumed actors with photos of the actual people they are modeled after, the viewer is given the opportunity to carefully assess the similarities.

Matthew Perry Interviewed During Game 6
13 may 2013 12:30

It’s a sad day when your TV show gets cancelled, unless you’re ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry. His recent — and well-received — series ‘Go On’ is sadly getting the boot. Surely congratulations are not in order…or so we thought. At a recent Los Angeles Kings game, the once-upon-a-time Chandler Bing was in attendance. During the game, he was interviewed by sideline reporter Dan Moriarty. All seemed to be going swell, with Moriarty asking Kings questions, but once he congratulated Perry on his show being axed by NBC, it got a little weird. Luckily, Perry’s quick on his feet and proceeded to make the situation as funny as ever afterwards. As the youth of America would say, this was an absolute EPIC FAIL.

The Great Catsby trailer
13 may 2013 12:30

Why watch ‘The Great Gatsby’ when you could watch ‘The Great Catsby’??? We had that same thought, bu Guyism went one step farther and created this mashup using the trailer’s audio and clips from ‘The Aristocats’ to make ‘The Great Catsby.’ At least, we’re pretty sure it’s a mashup. To be quite honest, it’s been so long since we’ve seen ‘The Aristocats,’ that it could actually be Disney’s retelling of ‘The Great Gatsby’ for all we know.

Gravity Starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock
13 may 2013 03:12

At long last, we have the hotly anticipated trailer for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity. Aside from it being Cuarón’s first feature since 2006′s Children of Men, it reportedly has a 20-minute opening shot and while it was once set to star Robert Downey Jr. and Angelina Jolie, the parts ended up going to George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. I mean, that’s cool too, I guess. (*kicks can*). Finally, a use of Futura font that actually makes sense! Needless to say, Cuarón? In space? Oh, I’ll play your game, you rogue. But with big box office stars like George Clooney and Sandra Bullock on the bill, I’m a little surprised they went with the one-name, indie sci-fi name a lá Solaris or Moon and not something more commercial. Say, “Way Up in the Air,” or “The Blind Side of the Moon.” Yes, I’m a marketing genius. (*puts on foam cowboy hat marked “GENIUS,” pets cat*) “That debris’s changin’ yer lahfe…”

Space Jam Movie
13 may 2013 03:03

There are better movies than Space Jam. Lots of them. Hell, there are better movies within the genre of 90s kids' sports films (The Sandlot, definitely; Little Big League, probably; the first two Mighty Ducks movies, maybe). But that does not change the fact that I love Space Jam like a loyal family pet, and that I will always stop to watch it -- picking it up at any point -- any time I see it pop up on cable. And so, please allow me to take this opportunity to explain to you why I love it. You know what? I should do this as a list. People love lists. Especially when you're talking about something from the 90s. Yeah, let's do a list. FIVE THINGS I LOVE ABOUT SPACE JAM

Gwyneth Paltrow
13 may 2013 02:26

When we last checked in on World’s Whitest Person Gwyneth Paltrow, she was dispensing her secrets for a successful relationship (more blowjobs, less arguing) in between getting a colonic and lecturing her gardener, Juan, on how juice cleanses and summers spent in chalets in the Swiss Alps are good for the complexion. And as you may have heard, when she’s not making the world a better place with her farts, Gwyneth has a website called Goop, where she teaches people how to be better at being white, or something, and apparently sells exceedingly white people things. For instance, the woman married to the Coldplay guy is currently selling stuff for your home bar on her site, stuff described on Goop as “unique accessories for the well-stocked bar.” Let’s sample the goods, shall we?

Kanye West New Songs From Sixth Album

When he’s not busy chaperoning a floral sofa ’round town, Kanye West occasionally makes music. In fact, rumor has it that his much-anticipated follow-up to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will drop this year, and last night, we heard our first listen to the record, courtesy of recent G.O.O.D. Music signee Hudson Mohawke. Should we name it Album of the Year now, or wait until we hear the Daft Punk collaboration?

Arrested Development Best Of: Infinite Wisdom Of Lucille Bluth
13 may 2013 01:44

We're all in agreement that Jessica Walter is television's all-time mom, correct? I mean, no contest really. I honestly can't even think of another TV mom I'd pit against her for the sake of debate. Between Lucille Bluth and Malory Archer she has delivered more joy to audiences -- usually at the expense of her fictional children -- than pretty much the rest of the lot combined. What a bunch of seawards her competition is. So with Mother's Day falling smack dab in the middle of our Arrested Development on Netflix final countdown, it would be silly to not revisit all the motherly pearls of wisdom the matriarch of the Bluth Family has delighted us with over the years. Here's to even more Lucille Bluth coming soon.

You Won’t Even Recognize Zooey Deschanel Without Bangs
10 may 2013 16:13
Whoa. They say that bangs can change your look and give you a boost — just ask Michelle Obama. But in the case of quirky-cute actress Zooey Deschanel, who’s known for her signature fringe, she’s rendered instantly and totally unrecognizable without it. The actress wore her face-framers swept back at the 2013 Met Gala this week, while the rest of her locks were pulled into an updo. Be honest — if we didn’t tell you it was Deschanel, would you know it was her? She looks markedly, drastically and severely different. Bangs are youthful, and without ‘em, the 33-year-old Zooey does appear a tiny bit older. Now we know why she rocks the bangs — because they flatter her face and look adorbs. Without them, she’s still pretty, but she blends in with the crowd instead of standing out from it. Zooey, you’re beautiful and we love you. But please, we implore you — don’t go sans bangs again. It’s like one of those optical illusions we can’t figure out.

Anderson Cooper Interviews Charles Ramsey, and Is Awesome at it.
08 may 2013 13:39
You know what idiots are saying today? They’re saying that American hero Charles Ramsey is the next Sweet Brown or Antoine Dodson because, like I said, they’re idiots. Charles Ramsey, unlike those other two, is getting attention for doing something pretty awesome as opposed to merely being interviewed by the media and saying something meme-able. And when Ramsey talks, he actually says important things — he’s like that uncle you have that always seems like a bit of a mess but if you actually listen to him, he has some really poignant stuff to share. With that said, Anderson Cooper took a trip to Cleveland (as if you didn’t already think he was brave) to interview Ramsey and it’s incredible. Sure, we’re going to laugh at the way Ramsey goes off on tangents, but if you get past that you’ll hear a really heartbreaking story about a guy traumatized by the fact he lived next door to three monsters and had no clue. Now Ramsey can’t sleep and thinks he would have killed the three captors if he knew what they were up to. The seven-minute interview is hilarious, chilling, gripping, wacky, and great. I mean, the guy even says any reward money he gets should go to the victims.

Back in February, UFC Women’s Champion and With Leather’s First Lady of Fighting, Ronda Rousey, discussed her newfound status as a sex symbol on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. Of this new and growing fascination and adoration that men and women alike have established for her, Rousey said: “I don’t really see myself as a sex symbol because ever since people started calling me a sex symbol, I haven’t had less sex in my life. It’s not really working out great for me. People bring that up all the time. I’m like, Look, you’re right. I probably get more attention fighting because of how I look, but if I didn’t know how to fight and I just looked the way I did, no one would know who I am.”

4 Sisters Photographed Every Year For 36 Years
04 may 2013 14:04
The year was 1975 when Nicolas Nixon, a professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art originally photographed his wife Bebe and her 3 sisters. They were so impressed with the result, they collectively decided to make it a yearly event, the annual family photo. 36 years later, the sisters and Nicolas had all kept their promise, resulting in these 36 beautiful and candid photographs. Despite the years changing, the four sisters Heather, Mimi, Bebe and Laurie always remained in their same positions from that original photograph back in 1975. Whilst the fashion, haircuts and indeed their lives & personalities continue to evolve and change over the years, one thing that is incredibly evident is just how much of a loving bond there is between the four of them. You can find out more about the fascinating series simply titled ‘The Brown Sisters’ by getting a copy of the book right here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0870707191/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=bp09b-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=0870707191&adid=0YZYHS4B4ZY640060Y7C

Exquisite Dresses Created From Healthy Foods
01 may 2013 14:44
One could say that Mother Nature herself played a leading role in these elegant artworks by Korean artist Yeonju Sung. Sourcing local produce and using her extensive imagination and sculpting skills she’s created ‘Wearable Foods’ a series of stunning dresses & outfits created entirely from different food groups. No needle and thread, exotic silk or tighlt wound wool, just plenty of tomaotes, bananas, eggs and chives fused together. It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, but as you’re about to see her work is meticulously crafted and the results are stylish and at times awe-inspiring. “As time goes by, the food from my work do go through a progression of disappearance due to the nature of food and gets gradually changed into the hideous state fading its shape and color in the process. I drag out the types of images that can only exist in my mind and imagination into a reality and yet, it eventually disappears. I have physically made these images but they are the creation of illusion and ultimately what you see is the images of phantoms. “ You can find out more about the project, as well as see more graceful outfits from the collection via her official site: http://www.yeonju.me/

10 Saddest Episodes Of Otherwise Happy Shows
24 apr 2013 15:59
Earlier this week, Comedy Central announced that they aren't planning on renewing Futurama, meaning unless the show goes exclusively online, its seventh season will be its last. Hearing the news, I wasn't sad or angry or impatient that it hadn't happen, yet, slightly tainting the show's near-perfect, pre-revival legacy — all I could think about was Seymour. Cancellation = no more = death = Seymour = TEARS. Although Futurama has some of the most genuinely moving moments in TV history, no one would ever mistake the show for a drama — it's a sitcom first and foremost, and for every sad scene, there are hundreds of Zoidberg dances. So, in honor of Futurama, let's take a look at 10 of the most gut-wrenching (i.e. depressing) episodes of otherwise comically inclined shows. Series finales are exempt because that's too easy. Sorry, "Goodbye Michael." I'm pretending The Office ended then, because it did.
