Here’s How Knitting Was Used As A Tool To Spy On Enemies During Wartime
29 jul 2019 14:14

It may come as a surprise, but knitting and war have a lot more in common than one may think. In many countries including the United States, wartime has almost always involved knitters. Back in the day, women were encouraged to support troops from home by knitting socks and hats for them. However, even though knitting has been always associated with an innocent hobby of older ladies, during conflicts, it became much more than that.

82 children in bronze overlook the old Lidice village
17 jul 2019 15:01

World War II is known to be the deadliest conflict in human history. Somewhere between 50 to 85 million people lost their lives due to the pointless, mindless war that was based on two Utopian ideologies. One of the most atrocious acts done by Nazis was the wiping out of the Lidice village located in former Czechoslovakia (now in the territory of Czech Republic).

Anna Coleman Watts Ladd was an American sculptor whose work changed many lives
13 aug 2018 11:09

World War I brought out the best and the worst of mankind and the people involved have been remembered either for the terror they brought or the compassion they showed. One of those compassionate individuals was Anna Coleman Watts Ladd, an American sculptor who moved to France with her husband in 1917. She created portrait-masks for severely injured WWI soldiers. Needless to say, her work changed many people’s lives

At first glance, this looks like an ordinary day in a small village with people enjoying the sun outside
15 mar 2018 09:20

During World War 2, one B-17 Bomber cost a little over $200,000 to produce. That’s about $3,4 million in today’s economy. And since the US Army requested thousands of these planes, they wanted to take every measure when securing the Boeing factory that produced them. And by “every measure” I mean hiring Hollywood set designers to build a fake neighborhood atop it and getting actors to inhabit the area.

Post-It War Between Two Office Buildings Ends With Epic Finale
30 may 2016 10:13

Post-it notes. The world would be in chaos without them. Nobody would remember anything. Nobody would be able to turn their office walls into superhero murals. Nobody would be able to leave passive-aggressive messages on the doors of communal refrigerators. And nobody would be able to have the sort of epic Post-it note battle that recently took place in New York.

03 dec 2015 13:07

This is the new series by Gunduz Agayev. In the past men created a God of war and blamed mythic Gods for the wars. However, throughout the history only men were responsible for all the bloodshed. Alas, many of us still do not understand this and want to evade the responsibility.

I Went To Syria And It Was One Of The Most Heartbreaking Experiences I’ve Had
18 mar 2020 17:29

We’ve all heard about the mind-boggling events happening in Syria over the last 10 years. The rebels and the army advancing on each other’s positions. The terrorist attacks. The airstrikes. The millions of refugees escaping the country whatever way they can. The destroyed cities and much more. For years that was all, it was – thoughts. However, recently I finally got the chance to get inside of Syria and see it all first hand.
