But for him, one character stood tall above them all – the one and only Man Of Steel, Superman. Now aged 36, it’s safe to say that Herbert Chavez is the world’s biggest Superman fan. Period.

If you’re anything like me, you’re counting the seconds between now and Sunday’s long-awaited premiere of ‘Game of Thrones‘ third season, wondering what will become of our mutual favorite characters and anticipating more gore, sex and brutal battle! As it has in years past, Google revealed a series of practical jokes on April 1st such as Gmail Blue and Google Nose (like scratch & sniff, but not as funny). But perhaps its most significant reveal was the news that Google Plus, its much-maligned social network, was just one long practical joke. “We’re surprised anyone every actually used it,” said Google CEO Larry Page. “Circles? Hangouts? We can’t believe anyone ever fell for that.” Google Plus launched in June of 2011, making it Google’s most elaborate practical joke to date. “Every year we launch some obviously fake prank on April Fool’s Day. With Google Plus, we were in it for the long con,” said developer Mike Shirey. The use of profiles and streams led many users, such as our totally in-the-know 11-year-old nephew Cameron, to refer to Google Plus as “a poor man’s Facebook” and “totally lameballs” (Cameron’s words).

When it comes to graphic design, the 1920′s and 1930′s serve as fascinating zeitgeist in Japanese culture. The surging influence of the Western culture in different mediums – cinema, magazines and TV, started to be adopted & reconfigured by Japanese artists. These evolving art forms reflected Japan’s socio-economic transformation, the rise of its industry and technology sectors and even a shift in political thinking, from right to the more social aware left. Those internal influences, combined with that of from the West, had a significant impact on traditional Japanese graphic design. Suddenly it started to becoming bolder, brighter, less stark, more colorful and it’s imagery more impactful & striking. The fascinating evolution of Japanese graphic design in the 1920-1930′s was a direct reflection the bubbling melting pot of influences & issues occurring within the country itself. The famous German artist and photographer is best known as his role as head designer / creative director for the iconic fashion brand Chanel. But he’s also not one to rest on his laurels, he has his own fashion house, as well as the Italian house Fendi. An individual with unquestionable talent and unquestionably in-demand. He’s also quite the controversial character, PETA targeted him for his use of fur in fashion by throwing food at him. He called Victoria’s Secret supermodel Heidi Klum “No runway model. She is simply too heavy and has too big a bust. She is more bling bling and glamorous than current fashion.” and even caused Vogue magazine to walk out from his runway show when he employed strippers and adult film star Moana Pozzi to model his designs. And recently when talking about Grammy award-winning singer Adele he stated “She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.” Here’s a few other controversial views from the man himself.
