Most athletes are known for pushing themselves to the limits and Maarten van der Weijden from the Netherlands is no exception. Recently the swimmer attempted to swim the entire 200 kilometers (120 mi) long track of the Elfstedentocht in the Netherlands. The sole reason behind the event was to raise funds for cancer research, a cause close to Maarten’s heart.

Most athletes are known for pushing themselves to the limits and Maarten van der Weijden from the Netherlands is no exception.

After Being Diagnosed With Cancer, I Traveled To The 7 Wonders Of The World In 13 Days

12 countries – 15 flights – 28,211 total miles traveled – 5 hotel night stays – 1 confiscated tripod – 7 wonders – 13 days. I fell 50-feet climbing in Yosemite, got hit by a car and then diagnosed with skin cancer, all in one month. Two weeks later, I decided to see the 7 New Wonders of the World in just 13 days with a new outlook on life: to live more now.

When Eliot saw “hospice needed” posted by a charity, she decided to take the dog in to make his last days as happy as possible.

In October of 2012, a mother named Amy was diagnosed with stage 3C metastatic ovarian cancer. The diagnosis was a terrible one, but after surgery, 4 months of chemo and lots of struggling, it looked like things were beginning to look up.
