Where the High Line ends and Midtown begins you will find Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in US history. The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive design piece was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles.

Danish photographer Peter Funch spent nearly 10 years stationed outside of Grand Central Station shooting the morning commuters rushing by, and ended up capturing more than just yawns and iced coffees when it was said and done.

Interactive Photo Series Compares NYC's Past and Present

New York City is constantly evolving and growing, making it difficult to document every change that has occurred, but NYC Grid is taking a stab at it. Run by Paul Sahner the ambitious website seeks to map the entire city "street by street and block by block" through photos. In addition to simply capturing present-day neighborhoods, though, the site also gives a peek of what specific areas looked like in the past, comparing the two in its "Before & After" section.
