The United States relationship with the Middle East has been...rocky, to say the least. The situation has become so complex, that by now, if you are not a History or Political Science major, it's more than likely you'll get confused or mislead (especially if you are an avid FOX news reader, then it gets really confusing. In an attempt to help ameliorate any anxiety over what is going on currently with Syria --since I'm sure you've all read/seen/heard things over the media, I'm going to consolidate all the information I can gather about the subject, and walk you through what been going on. Firstly, let's start with a little History facts:

Kowloon Walled City was a densely populated, largely ungoverned settlement in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Originally a Chinese military fort, the Walled City became an enclave after the New Territories were leased to Britain in 1898. Its population increased dramatically following the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong during World War II. In 1987, the Walled City contained 33,000 residents within its 6.5-acre (0.026 km2; 0.0102 sq mi) borders. From the 1950s to the 1970s, it was controlled by Triads and had high rates of prostitution, gambling, and drug use. In January 1987, the Hong Kong government announced plans to demolish the Walled City. After an arduous eviction process, demolition began in March 1993 and was completed in April 1994. Kowloon Walled City Park opened in December 1995 and occupies the area of the former Walled City. Some historical artifacts from the Walled City, including its yamen building and remnants of its South Gate, have been preserved there.

Dogs are awesome in all senses of that word. But in particular what really gets them the title of a 'mans best friend' is the unconditional love they give us no matter what, and the purity of their acceptance. Check these heart warming pictures out, and feel the joy these pooches and their humans experience from through a magical thing known as a 'Hug'.

Did you dream of the day you'll get married and find true happiness by cooking, cleaning and serving your husbands every wish, as a little girl? Or maybe you were always taught that women are secondary citizens because they are definitely more incompetent then men...Yea, I don't think so. Unfortunately back in the day things were drastically different, and these ridiculous, inappropriate ads go to show how much our society has changed. It's kind of surreal looking at these images and knowing that this was accepted at some point.

So Disney and Lucasfilm ended up giving us nothing about Star Wars: Episode VII at their D23 Expo this last weekend, and it left many fans including myself unfulfilled and disappointed. But today we bring you some cool news regarding the highly anticipated film! There's a rumor been floating around that Emperor Palpatine would be back and that Ian McDiarmid would be returning to play him. That news has now been confirmed by our friends at Latino-Review, who also give us some spoilerish details on how he will return because as you know, he was murdered by Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. I've been seeing people talking about the character being cloned, but that just didn't really make sense to me. It never even really made sense to me in the comics either. As site points out, why would the clone be an old Emperor? The whole thing made me think that their was no real truth behind the rumor, which is why I never posted anything about it. Everything has now clicked into place, though!

Reports are coming in early Wednesday morning that a UPS Airbus A300 with registration N155UP has crashed just outside Birmingham Airport, short of runway 18. Early reports have not yet mentioned a possible cause, number of crew on board, or any injuries on the ground. WVTM-TV in Alabama claims the area of the crash was once a neighborhood, but is now an open field, owned by the airport. The crashed flight may have been UPS 1354, from Louisville Intl (KSDF) to Birmingham, a short 45 minute hop. The mayor of Birmingham has confirmed 2 fatalities as a result of the crash, the pilot and co-pilot. There were no injuries on the ground. The NTSB has launched a full go-team to the site. Birmingham Airport remains open, and flights are operating on time. NOTAMs are reporting that runway 18/36 is closed, and PAPI lights as well as the ILS system for runway 18 are down. The mayor of Birmingham, William Bell, noted a long debris field, with the airframe broken up into several parts, and that there were no storms in the area. AL.com reports that authorities tell them that no distress calls were made to the tower prior to the crash.
