Brook Hogan Defends Her Dad
30 jan 2013 10:35

Over the years, Hulk Hogan and his daughter Brooke have made many cringe with their just-a-little-too-close relationship. (We still can’t get the 2008 image of him rubbing suntan lotion all over her butt out of our heads!) But on Sunday, he really creeped us out when he tweeted a photo of the 25-year-old blonde in a mini dress and high heels with the caption: Brooke's legs
.

Rooms Photographed “From Below” by Michael Rohde
30 jan 2013 12:10
In his series titled “From Below”, German photographer Michael Rohde finds a new angle to look at things, and photographs the interior of the room from the floor going up. Almost impossible points of view really amaze and disorient the viewer. Seems like every object crosses the boundaries of possibility. Michael creates these photographs by taking pictures of each item separately. Cupboards, shelves and chairs are then reassembled into a new single composition which gives an illusion of looking into a room from below. It takes a moment for the eye to get used to this new angle and it challenges the perception of surrounding law’s of physics and understanding of the world. And that’s really the point of looking at things from a different angle.

Pentagon to Lay Off 20000 Marines!
30 jan 2013 13:00

The Pentagon has announced that 20,000 US Marines are planned to be cut from the pay. Does that mean that these 20,000 Marines will be applying for unemployment? The change is due to Defense department-wide budget cuts. This will reduce their number to 182,000, a much smaller number than what was being advocated for in the passed few years.

The good news it that we can be secure about peacetime staying for a few more years :)

This Isolated Russian Family Had No Idea There Was WW2
30 jan 2013 13:00

How is it possible to not have noticed WORLD WAR II?! You would have had to be in Russia with this family, living off the land and the sky.

Laughing Squid reports:

In 1978, Russian geologists surveying for minerals in Siberia stumbled upon a family of five that had been living in isolation for more than 40 years. Karp Lykov, the family’s patriarch, had led his family to the remote hillside some 150 miles from the nearest settlement in the 1930s to flee the religious persecution of Soviet authorities (the Lykov’s wereOld Believers, a Russian Orthodox fundamentalist sect). For the next four decades they lived an extremely harsh existence in a crudely built log cabin, subsisting on what little food they could grow, forage, and trap. Two daughters were born in the wilderness but sadly the mother died of starvation in the 50s. After being discovered by the geologists, the Lykovs began dying off due to exposure to disease and decades of malnutrition. Remarkably the sole surviving Lykov, the youngest daughter Agafia, still lives in the Siberian wilderness where she was born. For more on the Lykov family, check out this Russiapedia article and Lost in the Taiga, a Russian language documentary.
