Chinese Joke or Cool Purse?
06 feb 2013 12:32

These awesome leather handbags by American designer James Piatt are carried by clamping fingers in woven tubes similar to Chinese finger trap puzzles. Finger traps are often used as practical jokes, the wearer struggling to remove their digits from either end of the tube, which is usually woven from bamboo.

The weight of the leather bags creates the pull needed to tighten the weave and secure fingers in the tubes.

Would you wear this trend or is it just a joke?

What Does Batman Do When He isn't Saving Gotham?
06 feb 2013 12:58
Ever since Christopher Nolan turned Batman into a dark, mysterious, psychotic emo kid with an unreasonable desire to do Justice to a society that is riddled with injustice, Batman has become a very serious character. To say the least, it's refreshing to find an artist who reminds us of Batmans comical roots. Sarah Johnson has started a series of art pieces titled: "Ordinary Batman Adventures" -- it's a playful, witty and funny . Something that 'The Dark Knight' certainly hasn't been in a while.

A Museum You've Never Experienced Like This Before
06 feb 2013 13:07
Have you seen the movie ‘Night At The Museum’? Well, this next photographic series isn’t far from that reality. Austrian photographer Klaus Pichler was casually strolling around the Museum of Natural History in Vienna, when he noticed a stuffed antelope positioned in such a way that it looked like it was interacting with it’s new environment. As if it was in the wild merely a few seconds ago, before mysteriously finding itself stuck in the great corridors of one of Europe’s renowned museums, dumbstruck and confused.

Anatomical Paper Filigree Art by Lisa Nilsson

There seems to be a rising trend in the interest of anatomy, especially in art. As a fan of Biology, I am not complaining about this trend and I highly encourage it. I have a large amount respect for the artist who toils for hours with small pieces of paper, shaping them to match the anatomy of organisms.

The Best of Mr. T on Twitter
06 feb 2013 13:43
Mr. T is back with a new show on BBC Three, and because it’s 2013 and all media must infiltrate all forms of social media, he is also now on Twitter. And he has a web series (see above) and an iPhone app. He’s probably also desperately trying to accumulate as many Linked In connections as possible and feverishly posting selfies to Instagram. At least the tweets are entertaining (even if they do remind us a little bit of a doll that talks when you pull the string in its back). Here are some of the best so far.

Ellen DeGeneres Pranks Strangers With Taylor Swift Lyrics
06 feb 2013 13:46
In a recent episode of the Oprah of the 2000′s (aka ‘Ellen‘), the daytime talk show host sent one of her writers to Lowe’s in order to stir up some serious confusion in a few unsuspecting people. How so? By speaking to strangers only with the lyrics of Taylor Swift‘s hit ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ The reactions looked to be all across the board, from claiming sheer ignorance to some actually engaging in legit conversation with the seemingly crazy woman. Much to our surprise there appeared to be zero angry outbursts; a clear tell that this prank definitely was not attempted in New York. But in truth, we’d like to see that also. Who’s in?

The Deadliest Animals on Earth
06 feb 2013 14:53
Man is widely considered to be the deadliest animal on the planet, mostly because it’s hard to match the killing power of our guns and nuclear bombs. Even so, there are plenty of lethal predators out there that are more than willing to take us on and, if fortune favors these creates in battle, rip a chunk out of our flesh, or even end our lives. Of course you’ll recognize some of the most formidable hunters on Earth on this list, and they deserve their fearsome reputations as man-eaters. However, some top predators like killer whales (orcas) didn’t make the list, because they don’t pose a real threat to human beings. Others on the list, like certain insect species, may surprise you — get ready to have your mind boggled by the number of people they dispatch every year.

Halo 4 Punishes Sexism
06 feb 2013 15:42

Sexism is not okay! Simple concept, right? Yet every time I sign onto Xbox LIVE, I encounter sexism the likes of which I would never see anywhere else. Entire lobbies erupt into riotous cat-calls of “show me your boobs” and “get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich!” Guys who get headshotted by a female player throw around the nastiest and most disgusting misogynistic slurs, slurs that wouldn’t be acceptable if uttered anywhere else in the civilized world. There’s no denying that the online shooter community has become one of the most disgusting cesspools of bigotry and prejudice the modern world has ever seen, and the Halo 4 dev team is stepping up to say that this is not okay.
