These Photos Look Kinda Fishy
14 aug 2013 12:58
What do most people do with fish they bring home from the market? If you’re normal you’d probably gut it and eat. (Actually if you’re really normal you buy that stuff pre-cut so you don’t ever have to look at their cold dead eyes staring back at you.) If you’re… not so normal like Paris based artist Anne-Catherine Becker-Echivard, you might make a weird-ass photo series of fish working on assembly lines or in laboratories. The series is called “Les Temps Modernes” (Modern Times in English) probably because in these modern times no one’s going to question your sanity for doing something like dressing up little fishies and taking pictures of them.

An Illegal Mountain Retreat On A 26 Story Apartment Block Built By A Beijing Professor.
13 aug 2013 18:27

A 26 story residential building in Beijing, China has a new bizarre construction. There's a mountain on the roof around one man's attic apartment. How did this happen you wonder? A doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, Professor Zhang Biqing built it over a period of 6 years by carrying rocks and other material to construct a mountain around his home. He then added some balconies and landscaping to create his own retreat. All of that was done illegally and without consulting with the rest of the building residents, so after complaints of cracking walls, the eccentric owner was issued a 15 day notice to remove his 800 square meter creation. "I used to worry that the house might be too much but I never expected this much attention," Zhang is reported to have told The Beijing News. Oh of course not, it totally blends in with the rest of the mountain top buildings.

Performer Christina Bianco manages to squeeze impressions of 19 different divas into one performance of the ’80s classic. Ranging from Edith Piaf to Christina Aguilera, her impressions will blow you away. Keep the annotations on for a cheat-sheet of who Bianco’s covering at any particular moment, so you don’t stroke out trying to recall what Bernadette Peters sounds like.

The Internet Is Going To Explode: Cat Donuts
13 aug 2013 12:51
I don’t need to explain the Internet’s obsession with cats. You’re here, therefore you’re in the know. Let’s move on…to donuts. They are everywhere. From fast foods sandwiched in between two of them to the strange cronut hybrid, donuts have taken the spotlight off of cupcakes (thank goodness for that). Combine the two favorites and you get something that might cause the entire world wide web to explode. Inspired by a popular anime series called One Nya Hup, these sweet kitties are adorable and probably very delicious. Unfortunately, they are only going to be available in Japan. For now.

Dog Does Yoga With Owner
13 aug 2013 12:47
This is a video of Panchino the chihuahua doing yoga poses in sync with his person. It’s pretty adorable. And, if you’re me, a little enraging. Why can’t my dogs do cute stuff so I can post videos of them on the internet? But noooo, every time I bring the camera out, my dogs gotta be all weird and do gross stuff. One’s licking his privates, the other’s dragging her ass across the carpet… don’t they have any ambition of YouTube success? Clearly they don’t. But sometimes Einstein will roll over for a treat. So there’s that, I guess? Ah, who am I kidding — I’m just grasping for straws here!

Lost Egyptian City Discovered Beneath The Sea After 1,200 Years
13 aug 2013 12:44
If we told you a story of an ancient city, some 1,200 years old, that has been devoured by the foreboding Mediterranean Sea and entombed under a tons of mud, rock and sand – you’d be forgiven for thinking it was the opening passage to a Disney fairytale. But this is one story that isn’t fantasy, in fact you could say it truly is the stuff of dreams. Originally called ‘Heracleion’ by the Greeks but named ‘Thonis’ by the ancient Egyptians, the existence of the mythical city was confirmed to be true when in 2000, Dr. Frank Goddio (an underwater archaeologist) made one of the most important discoveries of the 21st century.

Billy Ray Cyrus Looks Like Fat Mac From It's Always Sunny

I swear to you guys I was not watching the “Teen Choice Awards” last night. What I am guilty of is regularly perusing r/IASIP and getting way to excited when I read “I thought Fat Mac was back for a second…” It was a bittersweet discovery that Rob McElhenney has not in fact returned to Fat Mac form, but instead that Billy Ray Cyrus is currently the owner of the best Fat Mac impersonation going. Is it 100% spot-on perfect? No, sadly no. Billy Ray isn’t quite fat or lovable enough. But that doesn’t mean it’s too far removed for us to compare some of images with Fat Mac Always Sunny GIFs does it? Of course not. Let’s take a look…

Makeup Artist Transforms Herself Into Pop Culture Icons
12 aug 2013 13:55
Self-taught makeup artist Carly Paige transforms herself into various pop culture icons. There are no limitations to her list of subjects as she tackles all shapes, forms, ages, races, and genders. From Angelina Jolie and Pamela Anderson to Michael Jackson and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, the Montreal-based creative manages to reproduce the image of some of the world's biggest celebrities with her raw talent and a few stylish wigs. Paige thoroughly researches each of her subjects, saying, "I spend a while studying at least three different shots of someone. One for their face shape, one for their make-up or style, and one for their expression. Kim Kardashian's expression was really funny to try to perfect." Though, she admits, "Some are really difficult, especially if I have to paint detail on my eyes or if my face shape is different. Still, once I've decided on one, I spend ages trying to get it right. It is rare that I give up on one like that." It's hard to believe that the 26-year-old only began artistically challenging herself with this personal special effects makeup project in October 2012. She continues to perfect her craft in the hopes of working on films. In the meantime, she works at Sephora, playing with potential materials for her next transformation.

So THIS Is What Wi-Fi Actually Looks Like...
05 aug 2013 13:19
These days we take Wi-Fi for granted, this invisible energy field that keeps us all constantly connected wherever we are in the world. But do you know how it was initially created? It was actually the by-product of a fail research project conducted by one John O’Sullivan an Australian radioastronomer. At the time he was trying to detect exploding mini black holes the size of an atomic particle, but instead found a solution that made wireless LAN fast and reliable. Not a bad days work in the office I’m sure you’ll agree. But if we could see it, what would Wi-Fi actually look like? Thankfully Dr. Vogel a professor and former NASA employee teamed up with visual artist Nickolay Lamm to answer just that question.

French Street Artist Loves To Hijacks Street Signs
05 aug 2013 13:14
He’s been labeled by the French authorities as a vandal, even so far as being fined €400 for his actions. But that hasn’t deterred French artist Clet Abraham from prowling the streets of Europe adding his own irreverent twist to traffic signs for the past 2 years. How does is he able to do it? In the depths of the night, a friend gives him a leg up and he quickly plasters the stickers onto the sign before vanishing without a trace into the shadows. Europe’s weary commuters and pedestrians then wake up to his wonderfully inventive work the following morning. His humorous and subversive designs certainly makes the roads and alleyways of Europe a lot more interesting don’t you think? Matt Damon Goes Black and White for Esquire
03 aug 2013 21:33
How do you make Matt Damon even hotter? With the power of a classy black and white photo shoot courtesy of the fine folks at Esquire, that’s how. Matt is currently promoting his new film, ‘Elysium,’ which hits theaters in August. It’s a sci-fi movie about a world where the poor people have to live on Earth, which has become like a destitute ghetto filled with sickness and suffering, while all the fancy rich people get to live on a massive, shiny space station and never have to worry about dying or starving or having to, you know, try. But then Matt Damon gets this awesome robotic device screwed into his body (ouch) that will allow him to breach the rich people utopia and bring that motha down. Damon is featured in the August issue of Esquire, in glorious black and white photos for your viewing pleasure. The interview takes place in Germany, where Damon drinks beer and eats steak (manly!). And we love the opening line of the piece: “Let’s face it, the guy is ridiculous.” Yeah, Esquire — ridiculously HOT.

Let’s Go for a Swim with Tom Daley
03 aug 2013 21:31
British diver Tom Daley just can’t stop himself from posting sexy photos on Instagram, and while we’re hardly complaining, we may need to cool off a bit. Does anyone else feel like going for a swim? Tom Daley is a British diver who began diving at the age of seven and became a FINA World Champion at the age of 15. He competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he was Britain’s youngest competitor. He’s also appeared on the reality competition show ‘Splash,’ helping coach celebrities in diving techniques. That’s a lot of success for such a young dude. Now, at the age of 19 (holy smokes), Daley is heating things up on Instagram with tons of shirtless pics to make his fans swoon. He’s been injured a couple of times this year, and while those injuries have kept him from competing in diving events, they haven’t kept him from smiling for the camera, and for that we are so very grateful. Check out some pics of shirtless Mr. Daley below, or head over to his Instagram account for (much) more, including shots of his adorable kitties!

20 Photos Of 1940's Vintage Swimwear Vs Present Day
03 aug 2013 21:14
As Bob Dylan famously once sang ‘The times they are a-changin’… That’s certainly true when you glance back on the fashions of yesteryear. Back in the 1940′s and even to a degree in the 1950s, when it came to going to the beach modesty, being ladylike and carrying oneself with a measure of dignity was the norm. That level of decorum is now diametrically opposite to the overly sexual imagery that saturates and dominates popular culture today. There was an element of innocence and a tangible sense of sophistication to swimwear styles back then. Bold colours, playful patterns and all kind of cuts, lengths and styles. Today, those same outfits are replaced with bikini’s little thicker than a cheese wire, that leave little to the imagination. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, in fact you could argue it’s a progression of sorts, the inflexible conservative values of yesterday giving way to a more care-free and inclusive mindset. If you’ve got it, these days it appears you have every right to flaunt it? And really, why shouldn’t you? But ultimately whichever era you’re a fan of, vintage or present day – beauty can often be fleeting but class? Well that’s permanent.

The Most Famous Brand From Each State In The US
01 aug 2013 12:03

By the time we graduate high school, we learn that they never taught us the most interesting things in there. Sure, you might be able to name the European countries or point New York on the map, but does that give a you real understanding of how the world functions? To fill this gap, we have gathered a great and informative selection of infographical maps that they should’ve shown us at school: every single one of these maps reveals different fun and interesting facts, which can actually help you draw some pretty interesting conclusions. What makes infographical maps so engaging is how easy it becomes to conceive graphically presented information. The best part, there are brilliant services like Target Map that “allow everyone (from individuals to large organizations) to represent their data on maps of any country in the world and to share their knowledge with the whole Internet Community.” Just choose a country and a way to create your map by color, type values or by uploading your excel files (you can even use your zip / postal code column to get the best and most accurate maps. Without further ado, we invite you to learn things like most popular sports in different countries, who has the largest breasts, red hair map of Europe, world’s most consumed alcoholic beverages, or which brands dominate in different states of the USA. Trust us, these are way better than the ones they taught you at school!
