Twenty years ago, being a "struggling musician" meant you were packed in a van, traveling from city to city with your bandmates, drinking cheap beer, and staying in dirty hotel rooms where you lie on a stained mattress and dream of one day making it big. Today, that is called being in an indie band. Today, that is called being an up-and-comer. Today, the term "struggle" has taken on new meaning. The Internet has made it possible for anyone to dive head first into a "music career," but it has also lowered the bar. Now, instead of having to really commit to something and grind it out the way artists in the '80s and '90s did, you can just start a half-assed Internet campaign from the comfort of your crusty old computer chair. Now, instead of actually putting in the work, you can just bang away at your keyboard and hope that your big break will come to you.
According to E! Online, Beyoncé and André 3000 will be covering the late Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” for the forthcoming adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. While Winehouse’s original is great, a record company source said that the cover is a “very different take” on the song. Needless to say, we’re looking forward to hearing the soundtrack in its entirety, especially considering that Jay-Z is composing the score for the film. The Great Gatsby will premiere on May 15.
TLC has had their share of shows that reveal the weird and intriguing oddities of life, such as My Strange Addiction, Strange Sex and My Crazy Obsession. In a recent episode of My Crazy Obsession, a young man from Florida has been featured as living his life as a Real Life Merman (the male version of Mermaid in case you didn't know!). The 22-year-old Eric Ducharme has a very real obsession with non other but dressing up and acting as a Merman in his every day life, "It's a lifestyle. It's a path in life that I have chosen." And he takes part in this lifestyle any chance he gets. Whenever he hits the water, he is sure to bring along his handmade fake fin, which happens about three times a week.
When you think of EDM, you may think of partying, fun, fist-pumping, and flashing lights, but things get pretty weird sometimes. Today, we're going to point out some of the strangest electronic music videos, including Fat Boy Slim, Avicii, and a number one that is one of the oddest videos out, EDM or not.
Very impressive, Ridiculously Photogenic Jiu Jitsu Guy. Very impressive indeed. We don’t even look that relaxed when we’re on the beach. When a picture like this happens, there’s only one thing to do — superimpose a bunch of romantic puns in Impact font over the whole thing and call it a meme. And that’s exactly what the internet has done. Here are our favorites.
I don’t know how people come up with this stuff. I'm going to pretend that somebody accidentally spilled some ink on a magazine, and it blacked out somebody’s teeth, and that’s where the idea came from. Regardless of what inspired it, the Tumblr Actresses Without Teeth is strangely captivating. Maybe it’s because it’s funny. Maybe it’s because we hate ourselves. Either way, we all can’t stop looking. Here are a few pics, be sure to check out their Tumblr for loads more.
As the world of cinema likes to frequently remind us, people die. With the exception of the cutesiest family film, most movies will feature someone being beaten, maimed or murdered. Interesting plot points maybe, but that doesn’t mean these scenes can’t get repetitive. A constant bombardment of death is depressing at the best of times, but there’s no need for it to boring too. So I appeal to the filmmakers of the world: put away your guns, knives and explosives, and get creative when ending your characters’ existence. Fortunately, there are people who share my view, and have already given us some innovative, fresh, and down-right bizarre weapons. Below is a short list I have compiled, displaying an array of unlikely instruments of death, that show us that when it comes murder, they haven’t run out of ideas just yet…
Exxon's Pegasus pipeline was shut after the leak was discovered March 30 in a subdivision near the town of Mayflower, which spilled thousands of gallons of crude oil in Arkansas. The leak forced the evacuation of 22 homes, and clean up has begun.

If you take the story of Bambi and replace the deer with a polar bear you get the story of Kali. The story starts off sad with a native Alaskan Inupiat substance hunter named James Tazruk shooting a polar bear which he is allowed to do by federal law. After inspecting the bear he saw that it had been nursing. Tazruk then followed the mother polar bear tracks more than 1,200 feet until he found the polar bears den with her cub inside. Tazruk took the little bear cub by snowmobile to his home village 40 miles away and then contacted the Alaska Zoo. The zoo then welcomed in the cub who is now named Kali. In the summer Kali will be moved to the Buffalo Zoo where he will be raised with another polar bear cub named Luna.
I don't hate remakes. There's plenty of decent ones to go around. I do hate the phrase "re-imagining". There's just some sort of smug undertone to it that says "I have a better way of telling someone else's story". Look, if you have such a unique vision on things go make your own damn movie. Screwing up memorable characters is the worst part of the whole process. Which is why we're here. I stuck strictly to movie-to-movie roles. Breaking down television characters brought to the big screen is a whole different battle.
I am sure you have heard the story of your grandparents walking barefoot in the snow up hill both ways. Well that's nothing compared to what 14 year old Chinese boy Yu Qiyun and his little sister have to do to get to school. They have to commute to a school 20 miles from their home in a village in the Hunan Province. The children must climb 66 feet up old wooden ladders on a steep cliff with a 230 foot pit below them. They do this all with heavy back packs on as well. Yu says he wants to get his education so he can get a good job to earn money to eventually build a road for his village and family. Check out the short video clip below
“The world ain’t saving itself.” That line, a call to arms, is attributed to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation character. And Johnson knows a thing or two about “saving.” After attempting to launch his own action franchises with movies like The Rundown and Doom, D.J. discovered a new calling in the film industry: he’s the elixir brought in to “heal” franchises that have lost their way. So I've cooked up five film franchises in need of an energy boost that would be well served by adding Johnson for a subsequent sequel. Picture the action star in these five universes, then add your own suggestions in the comments section below. Photoshop work by Kristy Puchko

Pop stars can be confusing sometimes. There are day, when I am not sure I am being a perv because I am attracted to younger males, or if the perveted industry of music is making them seem younger than they really are. (Creepy) Have no fear! I am here to settle all your qualms. If you are attracted to any of these young pop stars, you're on the safe side, because they are all legal! Though, they certainly seem to be marketed younger than they really are.
Athletes constantly have the camera on them. This usually leads to some funny moments . Here are bunch of athletes caught making weird faces. These photos show some talented athletes making some not so good looking faces.
Madonna, Madonna, Madonna. The Queen of Pop is infamous for pushing envelopes and breaking rules, but not even the Material Girl herself is free from Instagram‘s fury. The ‘Girl Gone Wild’ singer was slapped with a violation notice from the photo sharing service, which she shared with her 152,000+ followers. Madge posted a photo of the violation notice for her followers to see. The notice warned against posting photos featuring “nudity or mature content” as well as against sharing photos that come from third parties. “We value these guidelines, and believe that they will help keep Instagram a safe & fun place for everyone,” the message says. “It is important to note that continuing to violate them may result in a disabled account, or discontinued access to Instagram, without warning.” It’s not entirely clear which violation Madonna was being cited for, but she has posted cleavage and butt-centered shots. Still, those are tame compared to the photos Rihanna posts every 10 minutes!
Can you find all of the misleading details in these photos? If you look at these pictures quickly your mind will see one thing but in realty the photo shows something else. Take a look and see if you can figure them all out. This is some funny stuff.
Nicki Minaj is known for her cornucopia of wigs, which allows her to change her hair and look daily. That’s why she is able to rock the long, straight and platinum blond locks one day and swap ‘em out to sport a bright pink angled bob the next. But rare is the case where we get to see her real strands. With all the strain and stress being placed on her natural follicles, you’d think her real hair, which rarely sees the light of day, would be short and somewhat damaged from the strenuous workout she puts it through in order to accommodate for all of her faboosh wigs. It would not have shocked us if she even went bald underneath so that her wigs sit better on her noggin. Not so! Minaj tweeted a photo of her mega long, layered, cut-to-a-point natural black hair, which hangs all the way down her back. We were surprised that it is that long, making it harder to tuck under her faux hairpieces! It’s in decent condition, too, considering the beating it takes. The ends could use a snip and she could lob off several inches to purge the dead ends. But overall, the condition is decent. Below is her tweet, which is just a bunch of hashtags about her locks and their length. She suggests that she will wear her real hair out once it reaches her butt, so there goes our whole suggestion of trimming the ends to clean it up a little. “#LongHairDontCare#HangTime#ImaWearItOutWhenItTouchesMyA–.”
This weekend, Steven Spielberg’s Raiders of the Lost Ark was re-released in IMAX theatres for a one-week exclusive engagement. I found it to be an absolutely invigorating experience, not just because is Raiders is one of my very favorite movies, but because the gorgeous cinematography, iconic action scenes, rousing John Williams score, and incredible Ben Burtt sound design all looked and sounded better than ever blown up to IMAX proportions. I do not exaggerate when I say that, for all the times I have seen Raiders, I had never seen it like this. In this day and age, when movies come out in IMAX all the time, it seems only natural to offer an iconic adventure film like Raiders in the format. In fact, there are plenty of classic films that would do well in IMAX. Movies with incredible aesthetics that could be enjoyed to their fullest on a giant IMAX screen in the format’s 15/70 perf. 70mm film stock. While there are probably too many deserving films to count, I have picked the ten movies I would most like to see released on IMAX, and it is the topic of today’s countdown.
Lets face it surfer girls are awesome and super sexy. A sporty girl in a tiny bikini having a great time at the beach. Could it get any better? Here is a tribute to some sexy surfer girls.
Really serious movie people, like the kinds who write for newspapers and magazines and want to be taken really really seriously when it comes to opinions on movies (which they would of course refer to as “films”, or “cinema”), usually prefer movies that are serious so they can talk about them in a serious way and demonstrate how serious they are. If you take a look at the yearly top ten lists for most critics, they’ll be comprised of many serious dramas. I’m guilty of this. It’s understandable why these movies can be divisive. Opinions naturally split on whether a dramatic movie works or not. The same is true of comedies, perhaps even more so, because comedy is often an even more particularly subjective experience. People differ on comedic takes rather strongly. And yet there are some movies that seem to be impossible to dislike. They have a spirit of general enjoyment, a tone of happiness that is overwhelming, though not to the point of being suffocating. There are lots of movies that try too hard to be cheery, and that can be annoying, so it should not be discounted just how difficult it is to pull off a truly happy, universally-appealing movie. But there are a number to draw from, that frequently end up in people’s lists of all-time faves. Here is a list of 8 happy movies that I have yet to hear complaints about, except from angry people who genuinely hate life and detest joy.
Tuesday night Texas Rangers starting pitcher Yu Dravish came oh so close to a perfect game. It came down to the final batter with two outs in the ninth inning before Yu gave up the only hit of the day for the Huston Astros. The game was a masterpiece before the 27th batter came to the plate and spoiled Yu Darvish's perfect game. Lets look at other heart breaking lost perfect games and see where Yu compares.
Admit it -- you've totally belted out the words to a song, only to learn later you were singing the wrong lyrics! We've all made that mistake, usually with some pretty hilarious results. That's why today, I am here to rescue you from all future social embarrassment. Let me enlighten you:
Ritz Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong is the highest hotel in the world. The hotel occupies 16 floors in the building of ICC (International Commerce Centre). Hotel's apartments start at 102 and rise above the Victoria Harbor on 488 meters.
In his ‘Architecture of Density’ photo series, German photographer Michael Wolf explores the jaw-dropping urban landscapes of Hong Kong. He rids his pictures of any context, such above or the earth below, and rarely includes people, either. The images are large scale flat captions of buildings which appear to be infinite and haunting in Michael’s photos.
