
Parents with Down Syndrome are just as loving as any other parents. That’s the lesson we can all learn after hearing a Syrian student’s tale about his father.
Sader Issa, who studies dentistry in Syria, shared the story of how he was raised by his dad Jad who has Down Syndrome. According to Jad’s son, his dad showered him with love and did the best that he could to make his childhood the same as any kid’s.

Kinsey French, a special education teacher from Kentucky, not only got engaged in front of her whole class, but also invited her students, all with Down Syndrome, to the ceremony. On June 3rd the whole class from Christian Academy Rock Creek became flower girls and ring bearers and led their teacher down the aisle.

I am one of those people who have been greatly blessed by growing up with a sister who had Down Syndrome. Dina was the best thing that could have ever happened to our family. She taught us what true unconditional love is and how to go through life without worries. Ever since I started doing photography, I’ve always had the desire to photograph kids with Down Syndrome. I chose to do this photo shoot not only for my own pleasure but to help raise awareness about Down Syndrome.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month so we couldn’t think of a better time to share the second set of Wil Can Fly photos. I started this series back on March 21st (National Down Syndrome Day) of this year as a way to illustrate the joy my son (Wil) has brought to our family. Wil has Down Syndrome, but my family and I know that won’t stop him from doing anything he puts his mind to – Wil Can Fly.
