I think I’ll never forget the look on her face those first few days when I’d reach out with the leash and she would cower into the nearest corner. A look of complete and utter fear. It took seven days before she would even let me pet her, and months before I felt the least bit of trust forming.

“Flotsam//waterplants” is a series that captures the complex natural beauty and movement of flowers and plants when exposed to the elements of moving water, in particular the subtlety in their structure, texture and form. Constantly drawn back to using plants and flowers in my work, I wanted to strip back and simplify from my previous work and let the flowers speak for themselves, as though I am taking their portraits. The added element of water was initially a way to highlight the natural...

This is the beautiful Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew, better known as the Million Bottle Temple. From far away, this Buddhist temple looks a beautiful jade structure on a serene lake. It rests near the Cambodian border in the Sisaket province of Thailand, and has served the community of Khun Han since ground was broken in 1984.

A few years back we got our first family pet, a Ragdoll cat named Lucy. A year later we got another one and named her Irie. I fell in love with documenting these friendships, and a project was born. Each of my boys shares a different relationship with the cats. My oldest son is by far the most obsessed with the cats. He tries to smuggle one in to his bedroom every night.

We’re on a creative journey around the world, tracking how far from home we can get. We have quit our jobs, sold our shiny belongings, and packed up our lives into four bags (one filled with camera gear, of course). We are now on a journey to see how far we can get physically from Johannesburg, South Africa, and figuratively from our comfort zones.

I captured the beautiful sunrise at lake Bled in Slovenia. Ojstrica is one of the most popular locations to take photographs of Bled and many postcards and posters were made on this exact spot. A dear friend of mine once showed me this location and I decided on the spot that I just have to capture a sunrise from here. I visualized the light and how it would first touch the mountain top and then slowly moves towards the castle and the church.

This is a combination of cat bed and storage chest based on the Chain Chomp character from the Super Mario Bros. I own a cat furniture company “Catastrophicreations”, and we’ve always been huge fans of Mario. I believe Super Mario Bros 3 is the best video game ever made. I’ve played around in the past with ideas to incorporate my favorite game in our furniture. We used to make a Super Mario Cat Complex, which was a hit with our cats.

As Charles Darwin described in his study about the existence and nature of emotions as expressed both by humans and animals, emotions are a natural part of the living creatures. Although there might be some slight differences between emotions of animals and humans, yet, they are quite similar. Here are some of the most touching photos of newborn animals in the wild which clearly express that animals, too, can show how tender and caring they are as mothers and fathers to their babies.

That’s what happened to Dutch food blogger Sid Frisjes when he took a gag tourist photo of himself trying to touch the top of the Eiffel Tower and asked the online 4chan community to Photoshop it for him.
