Venice
11 mar 2013 10:44
If you have never been to Venice, make it one of your next destinations. It is beautiful and blew my mind when I first went for a boat ride on one of the many canals. Early May or September are the perfect times to go, not too hot and not too busy. And if you go, stray from the beaten path please.

Most Extreme Cultural Body Modifications
11 mar 2013 11:34
It is impossible to say who the first people were with stretched ears, or why they did it. Today, many cultures (including our own!) practice the art of ear stretching for many different reasons. Religion, coming of age ceremonies, warding off evil, sexual enhancement and physical beauty are common motivations. However, that just barely scratches the surface as there are many other reasons, as well. People all over the world still practice ear stretching. From the Masai tribes in Kenya to the Huaorani tribe in the Amazon Basin, stretched ears are still a common sight. It is a fascinating testament of human culture that a Western youth can walk into a piercing shop to select stretched ear jewelry while a Hmong youth in Thailand selects from an array of silver tubes.

Fresh And Mouth-Watering Beer Label Designs
11 mar 2013 12:46
So full disclosure before we begin, we’ve tried less than 25% of these rather interesting beverages, so we can’t tell you whether they taste like nectar from the Gods or cheap methylated spirit BUT one thing we do know, is that they all have some pretty impressive designs and labels going on. You might not have heard of many of these niche / limited release beers but you can’t deny they all certainly look worth buying a bottle or two and giving them a taste don’t they? Many of them are manufactured in the United States as well as some from Canada, so if you live outside of those countries you might have to go to your local importer and see if they have samples floating around. Underneath each design we’ve included links to the brewing companies themselves – so if you’re feeling a burning desire to try some of them out, at least you have a starting point. We found it pretty hard to choose our favourite illustration / logo, although the consensus in the office is that everyone wanted to try ‘Winter Beard’ because lets face it, how wrong can you go with a combination of double chocolate and cranberry? Leave a comment below and let us know which you’d like to sample or better yet, if you’ve been lucky enough to crack open one of them – tell us what you thought? We’d love to know!

Unique & Stylish Mosaics Made From Celebrity Polaroids
11 mar 2013 12:50
The majority of the photographs you see of celebrities are the stock standard type, designed for magazine covers or the entertainment section in your local newspaper. Few are truly captured in a unique or original way (unless you’re someone like this or this), but that’s not the case when it comes to the works of Italian photographer Maurizio Galimberti. Photographing celebrities such as George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro, Catherine Zeta-Jones & Sting for his new series ‘Celebrity Works’ – he reinvents and rejuvinates their image into something new and beautifully personal.

Phenomenal Brazilian Street Mural As Tall As A Skyscraper
11 mar 2013 12:52
Brazilian local artist Eduardo Kobra, has really raised the bar with his majestic tribute to Brazilian architect and innovator Oscar Niemeyer who sadly died at 104. Widely regarded as one of the greatest architects of his generation (he was known in the industry as ‘a sculptor of monuments’) he was the architect behind Palácio da Alvorada, Cathedral of Brasília, National Congress of Brazil & Niterói Contemporary Art Museum to name a few. Outside of his homeland, he even played a significant role in designing the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Aside from his buildings, his legacy has now taken a different form thanks for Kobra. His vibrant and modern mural of Oscar, towers 52 meters into the air, running along the side of skyscraper situtated in Paulista Avenue (one of Sao Paulo’s most compact and dense streets.). As you’re about to see from the photos, it’s gigantic and stands 16 meter wide. Due to its scale Korba has to enlist the help of 4 people into his team to finish the project off in time. the shapes and fragements of the portraits were inspired by Niemeyer’s very own architecutral style. It’s an innovative & visually stunning tribute to a man who was reknowned for exactly both those qualities. Photos by Alan Teixeira.

The ‘Screaming Goat’ Hits Hollywood In Remixed Movie Posters

Popular Characters Painted Into Famous Historical Scenes
11 mar 2013 13:02
Painter & avid DeviantArt user ”wytrab8“ (aka White Rabbit – real name: Hillary Smith) certainly knows her art history. Using scenes and inspiration from the likes of Hieronymus Bosch & Giovanni Francesco Caroto, Kermit The Frog, Batman, Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Boba-Fet, R2-D2 and even villans like Skeletor and The Count (can a Muppet really be a villan though?) are all lovingly reimagined and set against a backdrop of famous & legendary scenes throughout history. She’s called the series Pop Reinterpretation, it’s wonderfully funny, a little cheeky and certainly devious. Below are just a few selections from her art which we love – but you can experience the full range of her talent via her DeviantArt portfolio. Until then, see how many references you can spot!

Wake-Up Prank Compilation Proves Roommates Are the Worst
11 mar 2013 13:03
What we gleaned from this video is that we never want roommates… ever… at all… because they are terrible people. Having said that, we have no qualms whatsoever about watching other people have roommates, especially when they’re being woken up in the worst way possible. Uploaded online last week, this prank video has garnered nearly 8 million hits, many of which were probably re-watches due to it’s addicting qualities. Whether that’s a result of the mouse traps, the ice buckets, the wasbi, the car horns or the fact that we’re thankful we don’t know any of these people, we aren’t sure, but a replay is an absolute must. In the end, so as long as there exists a barrier between us and these cruel impish pranksters (i.e. YouTube) we look forward to the next one!

So Amanda Bynes Looks Like This Now...
11 mar 2013 13:44
Oh, Amanda Bynes. What are we going to do with you. The actress troubled media fodder (who’s tried in the past to make turbans happen and likes celebrating holidays with her breasts) is now using Twitter to reveal a whole new Amanda Bynes. We don’t really know what’s going on in the photos she posted on Sunday (March 10), but it’s clear that Bynes has pierced both her cheeks, purchased a cheap wig and some plastic fingernails, and is sporting either some poorly applied makeup or a newborn set of lips. Amanda helpfully added the caption, “Wink” to the first photo along with an emoticon winky face, so at least we know she’s not having a stroke or anything. Meanwhile, the second picture features Bynes sporting some duck lips, gold chains and a replica vintage soldier hat. It had the missive, “Talk That Talk” and yet another emoticon, this time a big smile. Somewhere right now, Dr. Drew is gazing at these shots and just waiting for the phone to ring.

An Appreciation of David Beckham In His Underwear
11 mar 2013 13:51
David Beckham is never not sexy, so today let us honor this insanely beautiful soccer player and the many ways in which he looks hot in his underwear. Who can’t appreciate a hot guy in underwear? Well, sure, it depends on the actual underwear, but I’d argue that David Beckam would look hot even if he was wearing seasonal holiday-themed boxers from Target with like, four-leaf clovers or Bart Simpson cupids on them or whatever. Someone should actually test this theory because I think I know it in my heart to be true. Let’s be real. It’s mostly girlfriends and wives and fashionable gay men who buy classy underwear, so these ads are super smart.

Rihanna’s Mom Wants Her to Put Some Pants On
11 mar 2013 13:54
Rihanna has been blessed with a mom who says what the rest of us are thinking: Honey, you don’t need to get naked all the time. The ‘Diamonds’ singer told ELLE (via The Sun) that her mother, Monica, was livid when she saw pantsless pics of the starlet on Instagram a while back. “I’m not afraid of any person in this world, but my mother, I’m terrified of her,” she admitted. “She called me two days ago and reeled me in about two naked pictures Melissa put up on Instagram — a sneak peek from a photo book she’s making about me.” In the photos, Rihanna is wearing a bra, some sort of dead animal on her head and nothing on the bottom, drinking wine and smoking a blunt. So basically nothing unusual for her. Still, Mama Fenty was pissed. “She went crazy on me. I was, like, embarrassed,” Rih said. “I felt like I got my ass whipped in front of my class at school. She humbled the f— out of me.” But given the photo that RiRi posted just a couple days ago, she apparently didn’t humble her daughter quite enough.

Jon Stewart Is the Silver Fox With a Silver Tongue
11 mar 2013 14:02
Oh how we love a guy who can make us laugh around here. And when it comes to cute, funny men, Jon Stewart is king. Turn on ‘The Daily Show’ on any given night and try not to fall in love with him. The comically-gifted host of the Comedy Central program has been making us laugh for over a decade with his political satire and self-deprecating humor. But there are also occasional times when he gets serious and really passionate about what he stands for, and even if your beliefs aren’t similar to his, you can probably still get behind a guy with that much conviction. Case in point: He’s taking the summer off to make a movie about an Iranian prisoner who suffered untold amounts of abuse — some of it because he’d appeared on ‘TDS.’ Call it righting a wrong or whatever you like, but the bottom line is Jon is doing a very good thing. Anyway, even when he’s going hard and heavy with the political stuff on ‘TDS,’ he can still make you laugh. He’s also looking incredible for a man in his 50s, and the gray hair totally suits him. (What is it with guys trying to cover up the gray? Let it flow, gentlemen.) Stewart is also talented in other areas, including making appearances at charitable functions to liven up the mood. And as you’ll see below, he’s besties with dudes like Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert. This guy right here, man, what a keeper.

Hilarious Outtakes of Charles Barkley & Alec Baldwin For Capital One
11 mar 2013 14:05
Charles Barkley is known for his over-sized physique and personality and unfiltered approach to basketball analysis. This month, Barkley shows off his acting chops as he ventures out from behind the ‘Inside the NBA’ desk to co-star with Alec Baldwin in a series of funny spots for Capital One. The new ad campaign promotes Capital One’s Venture Card and the brand’s partnership with the NCAA and March Madness. The ads — most of which have Barkley and Baldwin sitting together at a basketball game (presumably the Final Four) giving each other a hard time — will run through the month of March and into April to track the NCAA Tournament. The two stars are comfortable with comedy — Baldwin is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Jack Donaghy on ’30 Rock’ and Barkley has hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ twice. Spots include Chuck trying to get a program for free, turning on his charm; Barkley asking Baldwin to answer his phone when his wife calls (and both of them coming up with movie ideas, roles for Charles, so they can say they’re working together). The first three ads in the series (“Telestrator”, “Little Ball” and “Saving It For Later”) premiered this week and show off Barkley and Baldwin’s on-camera camaraderie and ribbing (check out Chuck’s sail-size tighty-whiteys in the “Telestrator” spot). The first three spots are currently on Capital One’s YouTube page. And we’ve got our favorite one, two minutes of hilarious outtakes from all nine of the ads, right here:

Funniest Video Game Temper Tantrums
11 mar 2013 14:21
Gamers can be a fickle bunch. We’re passionate about our hobby. We love it. That’s why you get shouting matches over Xbox Live and pelvic thrusting taunts in Uncharted 3 Mulitplayer. When we do well, we want to shout it loud into the nearest microphone. But, some of us aren’t very graceful at losing or keeping our hobby under control. Instead of disappointingly looking over the replay of what went wrong, these gamers kick and scream and snap their controllers. They shout obscenities on anyone getting between them and their game. They turn into frothing animals that look like they might be more at home in a straight jacket with heavy dose of lithium. The following list is definitely not safe for work (lots of swearing), but it is totally safe for your enjoyment. Fake or real, each one of these highlights the hilarious failings in each and every one of us.
