If the Beastie Boys ‘Sabotage’ video was set in a library
22 aug 2013 11:38

From Chicago-based comics Mike Ferbrache and Duane Freeman comes a nonsensical rehash of the Beastie Boys’s 1994 classic video, “Sabotage,” only this time Cochese and Bunny are replaced with middle-aged librarians named “Story Time” and “The Techie.” I honestly don’t get it and don’t care. I’d watch (and post) a remake of “Ill Communication” track #6 in any setting. Shit never gets old.

Lady Gaga Took Photos With A Homeless Man
21 aug 2013 11:07

Outside of Lady Gaga’s hotel on Sunday a reportedly homeless man was waiting in line with other fans to give Gaga an engagement ring. According to Gaga fans passing the photos around, Gaga graciously accepted the ring. And when she went to pose with the man for photos, he told her, “But I smell.” To which she replied, “Don’t worry, I smell too.” She gave the man a rose, some money, and posed for a series of pictures with him.

Kid's Mastery of World Capitals Will Blow You Away
17 aug 2013 19:16

While most toddlers struggle to learn how to use the potty, one tot in Cleveland is busy mastering geography. In this video, 18-month-old Aanav Jayakar reels off several world capitals. In fact, he knows the capitals of about 61 countries, even if he has trouble pronouncing some of them. Aanav, who was actually 17 months old when this video was made, learned the capitals from his mother, who says she never forced him to learn; rather, he just seems to have a pretty stellar memory, not to mention a big head start once he starts social studies.

London's Piles Of Rubbish Transformed Into Works Of Art
30 aug 2013 00:56

You’re probably familiar with the phrase “One man’s trash is another man’s gold” and there’s few better examples of that than the work of visual artist Francisco de Pajaro. Much like Clet Abraham who has fun hijacking Europe’s street signs, Francisco likes to bring a bit of life, vitality and humour to our sterile urban environments. In a recently interview with James Buxton of Global Street Art he stated that:

A Toronto Man Tried To Buy Pot On Twitter And Was Mocked By The Police
14 aug 2013 21:11

Whomever is responsible for running the Twitter account for the York Regional Police in Ontario deserves at least a free lunch this week – and maybe a day of parking wherever he or she wants – as one specific Tweet yesterday morning racked up 3,960 retweets (and counting) and gained the YPD a ton of new followers. After a Toronto mechanic named Sunith Baheerathan Tweeted a request for some dealers to come sell him pot at work, the YPD took notice and provided quite the hilarity on an otherwise tame Tuesday.

Guy Uses Only Memes To Propose To Girlfriend
14 aug 2013 20:42

A Reddit user, who goes by the name SirTechnocracy, apparently proposed to his girlfriend by posting a series of meme pictures on the site. According to the post, he had already picked out the ring with his girlfriend, but she wanted a surprising, unique proposal. He also said that commissioning all the pics “took months and a couple thousand dollars.” His additional plan was to put the ring in a safe and engrave the Half-Life 3 release date into it so it could get enough up votes to get on the front page of Reddit. Check out the proposal below. In case you’re wondering, she said yes. Special thanks to Leyawn for the tip.

1997 Internet Instructional Video
13 aug 2013 15:31

Learning to use the Internet may never be more amusing than it is in this video from 1997. In ‘The Kids Guide to the Internet,’ a family straight out of central casting circa the mid-’90s helps viewers understand this newfangled invention. The jokes are terrible. The acting is lame. The music is ridiculous. And the boy, Peter, has a voice that quivers more than anyone’s has since another Peter’s — Peter Brady — did on ‘The Brady Bunch.’ The video is long, but is so adorably lame and nostalgic at the same time that it flies by quicker than the time it took for your AOL to go offline after your mom picked up the phone to make a call.

Ridiculous Shibe GIFs to Confuse and Amuse You

The Tumblr Shiba Confessions is probably the best source for weird Shiba stuff, but there are also several subreddits dedicated to the dog. We’ve got a soft spot for GIFs, so here are just a few to give you a taste, and maybe remind you that the internet is truly a very weird place.

Meet China’s Watermelon Kids

Brian Ashcraft of Kotaku is reporting on a recent trend in China where parents are amusingly dressing their young children in costumes made of hollowed out watermelon rinds. The “Watermelon Kids” craze is all done in fun, of course, although Ashcraft warns that wearing watermelons for a long time could be dangerous because it could “breed germs and bacteria.” Now even some grown-ups are joining in with their own fruit rind costume creations. We previously posted about another Chinese meme, Dogs Wearing Pantyhose.

Glamour Photographs That Will Leave You Speechless
13 aug 2013 12:42

Before you read on, remember that ‘Glamour’ is defined as follows: ‘The quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting, especially by a combination of charm and good looks.’ It’s safe to say that term applies rather loosely to the following collection of 22 photographs. Although admittedly they aren’t quite as confounding as 38 Of The Most Unexplainable Images On The Internet but they are potentially just as cringeworthy. The question is, are they wonderful parodies taken in jest? Or slightly misguided works of art? The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. After all, it’s a fine line between comic genius and insanity isn’t it? Do let us know your favourites!

'Avengers'-Themed Sex Toys Make Perfect Present
12 aug 2013 20:12

It's a question that's stumped mankind for decades, right up there with the whereabouts of the Lindbergh baby and what's the deal with nunchuks (they're not nuns, they're not chucks — what are they?!?): just how big is the Hulk's...y'know? Is it proportional to his Bruce Banner body, or his engorged Hulk one? This is important. Thanks to Tumblr user Sarmai, though, we now have a better idea what it might look like. He designed a line of sex toys for six of the Avengers, including Iron Man and Black Widow, ranging from vibrators to simulators to a Hulk-colored dildo. (That one's pretty NSFW, so you'll have to check it out at the source.) There's no Black Panther, but that's only because he didn't want to embarrass the oh-so-white Captain America...yet.

A Pacu, A Testicle-Eating Fish, Has Been Caught In Sweden
12 aug 2013 20:11

Fishermen recently caught a 21-centimeter-long pacu in Oresund Sound, between Sweden and Denmark. Pacus can grow up to 90 centimeters (almost 36 inches) in length and can weigh as much as 25 kilograms (over 50 pounds), and are usually found in the Amazon. Why am I telling you all this? Well… “The pacu is not normally dangerous to people but it has quite a serious bite, there have been incidents in other countries, such as Papua New Guinea where some men have had their testicles bitten off,” Henrik Carl, a fish expert at the Danish museum, said. “They bite because they’re hungry, and testicles sit nicely in their mouth,” he told The Local. “And its mouth is not so big, so of course it normally eats nuts, fruit, and small fish, but human testicles are just a natural target. It’s not normal to get your testicles bitten off, of course, but it can happen, especially now in Sweden.” [Telegraph] Testicle-eating fish from the Amazon invading a quaint Scandinavian town sounds like the plot of a Syfy movie. Someone get Dustin Diamond and one of the girls from Dream on the phone. This could do for them what Sharknado did for Ian Ziering and Tara Reid. Which is to say, very little, in all likelihood. (Never forget.) In the meantime, don’t go skinny-dipping in Sweden. Or anywhere. Not even your bathtub. These things already made it halfway around the world. You can’t be too careful.

Domino's Apologizes After Customer Compliments Their Pizza
09 aug 2013 18:22

Does Domino’s suffer from low self-esteem? It would seem so, if the Facebook posting below that has been going around the Web is any indication. It seems that a customer who actually purchased and enjoyed one of Domino’s lukewarm bread and cheese creations decided to, as everyone does once they’ve consumed foodstuffs nowadays, register their enjoyment on Facebook. The customer in question posted a missive about her love for Domino’s pan pizza on the company’s Facebook page which, if the kneejerk apology above is any indication, seems to be used solely to field consumer complaints. Does Domino’s have a spambot ready to reply to any messages, tags or likes with a swift apology for the gastrointestinal distress their product no doubt caused? After years of people calling their pizza “hot circles of garbage,” are they like an abused child who responds to anything — be it a compliment or a criticism — with beaten down remorse? That said, we don’t feel sorry for Domino’s. If anything, this is a good start. The fast food chain has done a few other things over the years that they should apologize for. Here are five things we’d like the Dominos ApologyBot5000 to answer for. 1. Recycling the same dough and cheese they use for pizza for everything from Cheesy Bread to those volcano shaped mounds of noodles and goo they call Pasta Bowls. 2. Releasing those ads a while back where they admitted their pizza is terrible and needed to be changed. You were fine serving slop for decades and we were fine with guiltily devouring it in college when we were hungover and couldn’t be bothered to walk down to the cafeteria for a bagel. That was the agreement, Domino’s.

Does Domino’s suffer from low self-esteem? It would seem so, if the Facebook posting below that has been going around the Web is any indication.

A Powerful Photographic Account Of Life As A Gypsy
09 aug 2013 18:19

The English term ‘Gypsy’ encompasses a number of ethnic groups, in Europe they are predominantly known as the ‘Romani’ people, in India the Banjara, in Armenia the ‘Lom’ people and across Germany, Switzerland and France these nomadic families are sometimes called the ‘Yeniche’ people. Interestingly enough the term ‘Gypsy’ was originally spelt gypcian, short for Egipcien, many believe its roots lie somewhere amongst the rubbles of Middle English, French and Latin. Regardless of country or even origin, the one trait that binds this ethnic group together is their steadfast refusal to identify themselves with a particular territory or country. They have few traditions and no place to literally call home – a result of their ancestors also being nomadic. Their history is one of constant movement and change, tempered with a fierce belief in being free from any country and indeed its institutions. In America they are used as cheap entertainment in shows such as ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ whereby the very worst elements of their culture have been provoked, exaggerated, edited and broadcast onto reality TV – but to stereotype the actions of a few, as representative of a much wider community would be incredibly narrow-minded.

Unfortunate & Stupid Chinese Tattoos That Make No Sense
09 aug 2013 18:15

One of the key considerations in getting a tattoo, besides your motive and its symbolism is how it looks on your body. Both Arabic and more importantly Chinese characters are beautiful examples of typography, so it’s not that surprisingly that millions of people around the world choose to ink themselves with sequences of each. The trouble comes when you start using words in the wrong context. If you’re Russian and you get “BAG OF CHIPS” tattooed on your arm, simply because you like the way it looks, you can be sure that anyone who reads English will laugh at you incessantly and constantly ask you “Were you drunk when you got that?” Which brings us nicely onto the following collection of Chinese character tattoos. As aesthetically pleasing as they may be, to anyone who is able to read Chinese they are completely and utterly non-sensical. Take a walk around your local Chinatown and you can expect a serious case of WTF. So our advice, next time you’re thinking of getting a tattoo, go beyond the surface and make an effort to find out the context of what it means. If not, you could end up like these unfortunate souls….

Arizona Man Using Humor To Find Woman Who Stole His Amazon Package
07 aug 2013 19:47

Phoenix resident Tim Lake travels a lot, so he very wisely installed some security cameras around his house to keep an eye on things for him when he’s out and about. The seemingly-paranoid tactic paid off recently, when Lake’s phone received a screen shot of a random woman at his door, and he realized that the bumbling blonde was actually stealing his Amazon package in broad daylight. While a lot of people might be pretty pissed that some woman would just jack their stuff like this, Lake is having a pretty darn good time trying to track down the culprit and humiliating her in the process. In an interview with Phoenix’s KPHO news, Lake pretended to cry over his stolen square ice cube tray, as he compared her appearance in the security footage to Dog the Bounty Hunter, before he read the hilarious flyer that he posted throughout his neighborhood. Oh, and of course he quoted Liam Neeson from Taken, because Tim Lake is awesome.

10 Funny Scenes From Serious TV Dramas: Breaking Bad
07 aug 2013 19:42

"OK, so, I've got this idea for a show. Breaking Bad. It's about a man named Walter White. He's a chemistry teacher who has cancer and oh yeah, he's played by the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. Anyway, cancer. His former co-workers offer to pay for his medical bills, but he refuses and instead makes ice-blue meth in New Mexico in an RV with a slacker, drug-addicted student of his. Cancer, chemistry, meth, what am I missing? That's right: Walter becomes more and more evil, killing people who get in his way, and becoming a monster at home to his wife, who's looking out for the well being of their teenage kid with cerebral palsy. But don't worry: it's going to be hilarious." I don't know how Vince Gilligan pitched Breaking Bad to AMC, but thank god he did, and thank Heisenberg they picked it up. Many consider it to be the greatest TV drama of all-time, or at least in the top-three with The Wire and The Sopranos, but that's not giving it nearly enough comedic credit. Breaking Bad is really, really funny, funnier than most actual sitcoms. With the premiere right around the corner (in case you hadn't heard), let's take a look at some of the funniest moments from 10 SERIOUS TV DRAMAS, including Breaking Bad.

Quirky Illustrations with Funny Messages

Minneapolis-based graphic designer Phil Jones, aka murraymullet, creates playful illustrations of objects and pets that will leave you smiling. The quirky drawings give a voice to inanimate objects like a trash can, transforming the waste receptacle into a refined connoisseur exclaiming, "Everything you bring me is garbage." Even when Jones' characters aren't accompanied with a speech or thought bubble, there's a universal understanding of his funny message. A shocked and teary orange kissing an equally disturbed tube of toothpaste speaks volumes as we all know the wretched taste of their combination after brushing one's teeth.

Amazon Founder & CEO Jeff Bezos Is Buying The Washington Post
06 aug 2013 00:23

Well this was unexpected: Amazon.com founder and CEO/spacenut Jeff Bezos — who’s worth something like 25 billion bucks — is buying the Washington Post for $250-million. (That’s a quarter of what Tumblr sold to Yahoo! for, btw.) Reports the very meta Washington Post: The Washington Post Co. has agreed to sell its flagship newspaper to Amazon.com founder and chief executive Jeffrey P. Bezos, ending the Graham family’s stewardship of one of America’s leading news organizations after four generations. Bezos, whose entrepreneurship has made him one of the world’s richest men, will pay $250 million in cash for The Post and affiliated publications to the Washington Post Co., which owns the newspaper and other businesses. Seattle-based Amazon will have no role in the purchase; Bezos himself will buy the news organization and become its sole owner when the sale is completed, probably within 60 days. The Post Co. will change to a new, still-undecided name and continue as a publicly traded company without The Post thereafter. Let the Twitter jokes commence!
