Your Funeral Won’t Be So Depressing If You Hire People to Attend It
08 apr 2013 14:39

Would you bring a ringer in to your funeral? Because it might become a thing. A British company called Rent a Mourner does exactly what you think it does: it rents out people to show up to funerals so the deceased can have a proper memorial. The cost? About $68 per person. The company promises to “supply professional, discreet people to attend funerals and wakes. If you simply need to increase visitor numbers or introduce new faces, then we can help.” Basically, it’s a way to avoid that low “Hey, no one favorited my tweet” feeling we’ve all had before setting sail for the afterlife. It’s like being a seat-filler at an awards show or a cast member of ‘The Truman Show,’ only it’s because you had no friends while you were alive.

The Insane ’90s Era ‘Eagleman’ Commerical Will Delight and Disturb You
08 apr 2013 14:37
Just in case you haven’t seen it, here is what many are calling the worst TV commercial ever created. Like, ever. Thankfully, this locally-made zero budget Chicago insurance company ad is of the “so bad it’s good” variety, not the, “so bad it makes me want to kill myself in the quickest way possible” sort. It’s got everything – bad ’90s Aquanet hair, horrible, horrible “acting,” and, of course, a man in an eagle costume pooping out a giant egg. And what hatches out of that egg is even more horrifying than what you could have ever imagined. Just watch. (Thanks to Reddit user Frostiken for this one.)

08 apr 2013 14:23

So I think its time we all take up ceramics. Apparently ceramics are worth way more than I thought they were. April 8th a red bowl with a lotus pattern broke the world record for Chinese Kangxi ceramics, fetching over $9 million after a bidding war won by a Hong Kong ceramics dealer at the last day of spring sales for global auctioneer Sotheby's.

‘G.I. Joe’ Star Byung Hun-lee Makes Me Want to Import More of These from Korea
08 apr 2013 14:07

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘ hit theaters and brought a storm of sexy, shirtless dudes to the big screen to rescue America from evil — including Korean actor Byung Hun-lee, a name you need to familiarize yourself with. Byung is a former K-Pop — that’s Korean pop — star turned actor who’s been impressing me for years with his roles in films like ‘I Saw the Devil’ (his wife is murdered and he seeks bloody, violent revenge and it’s AWESOME) and ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird,’ and recently he’s been making the transition to American cinema with his part as Storm Shadow in the ‘G.I. Joe’ movies. And oh my God, you guys, he is so sexy. Don’t believe me? Then maybe you should see him with his shirt off because daaamn, girl. Damn.

John Slattery of ‘Mad Men’ Drives Us MAD... Man
08 apr 2013 14:04
Yo, did you remember that ‘Mad Men‘ came back on Sunday? I'm going to keep reminding you by sharing pics of some of the show’s sexiest men, and today I'm giving you the silver fox John Slattery, aka Roger Sterling. So maybe instead of being a silver fox, he’s a Sterling fox? Hey oh! John Slattery stars as Roger Sterling on ‘Mad Men,’ part owner of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, the ad agency that serves as the focal point of the series. Sterling is such a cad — he womanizes, boozes, and pretty much does as little work as possible while taking his share of the credit. Last season we watched him take acid with his now ex-wife, which was prettyyyyy hilarious. Slattery is a veteran actor who’s been around for many years, and you may recognize him from ‘Desperate Housewives,’ ‘Sex and the City’ (he was the local government guy who liked being peed on!), or ‘The Adjustment Bureau.’ But we love him most on ‘Mad Men,’ where his witty one-liners and cavalier attitude about his work make him a joy to watch. And this guy can wear a suit like nobody’s business, right?

Jenna Jameson Raged Too Hard on Her Birthday and Beat Someone
08 apr 2013 14:01
Jenna Jameson got a little too rough ahead of her birthday celebrations this weekend. The “Queen of Porn” was arrested for battery before 8PM, taking the concept of pregaming to a whole new level. TMZ reports that Jameson allegedly battered someone in the Balboa Peninsula of Newport Beach on Saturday night (April 6). The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, put Jameson under citizen’s arrest until police came. Cops arrested and released the bombshell. It’s unclear whether Jameson made it to her scheduled early birthday bash that night — she was slated for a 9PM appearance at the Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim. It’s not Jameson’s first time in handcuffs — for a negative reason. The video vixen has previously been arrested for a DUI after crashing her car into a light pole. This is in addition to the slew of trouble and torrid domestic disputes she’s had with Tito Ortiz. We’d say to save the drama for the screen, but nothing she’s done has been particularly renowned for its plot.

Actress, singer and former Mouseketeer Annette Funicello has passed away at the age of 70 from complications stemming from her battle with multiple sclerosis. Funicello first entered households in the mid-1950s as a 12-year-old Mouseketeer, and later parlayed her fame onto the big screen, starring in a string of ’60s movies with Frankie Avalon like ‘Beach Blanket Bingo’ and ‘Beach Party.’ After losing the ability to walk in 2009, Funicello had reportedly been in a coma for years as a result of the MS. Her family was by her side when she was removed from life support. She is survived by her three children and husband Glen Holt. Hilarious Story about Amanda Bynes in a gym Class
08 apr 2013 13:50
Amanda Bynes was allegedly kicked out of a New York gymnastics class for showing up in an outfit comprised of fishnets, a wig, and a lingerie-like leotard. Of course she denies it — and given that there’s no video footage, we’re inclined to believe her. Because come on — if Amanda Bynes showed up at your gym, wouldn’t you just turn on your cell phone’s camera and wait for the inevitable hijinx to ensue? Sources told Page Six that gym staff became worried when Bynes was “muttering to herself,” and that she “burst into tears when she attempted a cartwheel and her dark-colored wig fell off.” “She lined up with the other gymnasts, and each took their turn to perform a roll. But Amanda just walked out on the mat, was spinning around in circles and mumbling to herself,” added another witness, who claimed Bynes had been acting strangely since her arrival. The story continues that Bynes was eventually asked to leave the class, which she had also attended the week before, because the staff was “concerned about her manner and worried she might be a hazard to other people in the class.” In response, Bynes took to Twitter threatening to sue anyone reporting the story as true, because she has been a little litigious lately.

A Shipwreck site called the "Tortugas" excavation was originally discovered in 1965. After a long wait the 400 year old treasure found off the Florida Coast in the Gulf of Mexico has finally been recovered. The treasure fleet ship was sailing back to Spain in 1622 after collecting colonial treasures. It was hit by a fierce hurricane about 400 miles from the Florida keys. Lets take a look at some of the findings from the recovered treasure.

Ray J’s New Song Is Totally Not About Kim Kardashian, You Guys
08 apr 2013 13:42
When Ray J dropped his new single, ‘I Hit It First,’ this weekend, everyone noticed that the lyrics (and album cover) seemed to take some swipes at former girlfriend Kim Kardashian. But Ray says we’ve got it all wrong. The rapper — whose sex tape with the reality starlet launched her into the public eye (thanks, dude) — called into New York’s Hot 97 to clear the air, saying he thinks people are “digging into it too deep.” “It’s a song. We just having fun,” Ray told the station, adding that the tune was about a “concept.” Of course … the concept of getting it on with Ms. Kardashian, who’s now pregnant with the next Savior of Mankind. But Ray cried foul, deflecting conversation about Kim and then pleading for the DJs to “bring it back to the song.” Okay. Let’s do that. As a reminder, here are the lyrics: “I had her head going north and her ass going south / But now baby chose to go West.” Certainly not a reference to Kanye West. Nope. Not at all. Oh, and then there’s this: “Girl if you come back to me / We can make another movie.” Totally not about Kim. Stop trying to read so much into it, you guys. This is clearly about an abstract concept. Carry on. Nothing to see here.

Chris Brown & Rihanna Call It Quits. Again. Maybe.
08 apr 2013 13:41
Will they? Won’t they? Wellll … not right now. Sources are saying music power couple Rihanna and Chris Brown have broken off whatever they had. Again. E! News reports that the on-again, off-again couple has flipped the off switch. Supposedly, insiders say Rih loves Chris but wants to focus on her career (and all that naked Instagramming). Rihanna is currently on her Diamonds tour and is about to drop a new line of perfume. Meanwhile, Breezy’s been on an apology press tour, during which he’s promoted his new album ‘X’ and maintained the two are still an item. (But that was last week. Things change fast.) And while Brown was spotted with an unidentified blonde beauty in NYC this weekend, RiRi was living it up at a Lakers game on the opposite coast all by her lonesome. But relationships die hard, toxic or otherwise, and this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this type of news. Go ahead and start an office pool for the reunion announcement.

Jon Stewart’s Interview With George Carlin Will Make You Miss 1997
08 apr 2013 13:33
Beloved comedian George Carlin may have left us in 2008, but his legacy lives on. Now video has emerged of the master being interviewed in 1997 by another funnyman — a pre-’Daily Show’ Jon Stewart. In the interview, Carlin waxes poetic about show business, illicit substances and creativity. Stewart, channeling his inner Danny Zuko, reminds us just how good he is at picking the brains of our favorite celebrities. At the closing of their time together, Carlin predicts young Stewart will eventually “show us a lot.” Sixteen years later, we can add that to a long list of things he was right about.

Ray J Shows His Kanye Envy & Kim Kardashian Thirst in ‘I Hit It First’
08 apr 2013 13:32
When you have nothing to offer, you make a sex tape. When you have the name recognition from a sex tape but nothing else to offer, you get a VH1 reality show. When you finally realize you’re completely irrelevant save for the same last name as a B-to-C-list singer, you release a song about your sex tape partner who got you your reality show. Cue non-entity Ray J’s new single, ‘I Hit It First,’ about Kim Kardashian. “She may move on to rappers and ball players,” Ray J eloquently croons on the song, which features a pixelated photo of K.K. on the beach in 2008, “but we all know I hit it first.” Yes. We do. Which means this, this and this are your fault, bro. Other charming lines? “I had her head going north and her ass going south / But now baby chose to go West / No matter where she goes or who she knows / She still belongs in my bed” and “Girl if you come back to me / We can make another movie.” The song is essentially attacking Kardashian for daring to sleep with or date anyone other than the rapper, because God forbid a girl upgrade. On the bright side, we bet both of Ray J’s fans really dig this song.

Poorly-Worded Hashtag for the Late Margaret Thatcher Makes People Think Cher is Dead
08 apr 2013 13:30

Twitter hashtags only have a couple purposes: track current conversational trends, and maybe keep people informed (or distracted). But every now and then a poorly-worded phrase confuses the masses. Like Susan Boyle‘s anal bum party. Or, in this case, a hashtag about today’s passing of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher — which oddly had Cher fans in an uproar. We can understand the confusion. The hashtag #nowthatchersdead was meant to be parsed out as “now Thatcher’s dead.” But it can certainly look like “now that Cher’s dead.” Oops. But don’t worry, Cher fans. Your 66-year-old icon is still going strong. Because, as the old joke goes, when the apocalypse finally comes, all that will be left are cockroaches, Keith Richards, and Cher.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Kid Celebrates His Birthday With Her A-List Friends
08 apr 2013 13:27
Remember your 7th birthday? With the Dairy Queen ice cream cake and the plastic cups? Yeah, Gwyneth Paltrow and her carb-deprived kids don’t get those parties. On Saturday, April 6, Gwynnie and rock star hubby Chris Martin threw a bash in L.A. that was ostensibly to celebrate son Moses turning seven. On the guest list? Tobey Maguire, Maria Shriver, Cameron Diaz, Gwen Stefani and director Jon Favreau, among others. Because nothing says “Happy Birthday” to a kid like a party with an ex-Spiderman, one-third of Charlie’s Angels and the Terminator’s wife. Photos show a table full of white flowers (little boys love those), and a table full of bland healthy refreshments that attendees could scoop out of $200 bowls onto plates made of fairy dust-infused crystal. Don’t worry, Moses. Being 7 years old and having a mom with the physique of an exotic dancer might be tough, but it gets better. Maybe.

Margret Thatcher died about 11am at the Ritz in central London, where she had been staying since January following a min
08 apr 2013 13:08

"If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing." These were some of the most famous words by Margaret Hilda Thatcher, who was unfortunately found deceased at age 87, this morning of April 8, 2013. Her son, Sir Mark, and daughter Carol confirmed that she died this morning. Lord Bell, her spokesman, said: "It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning. A further statement will be made later." Lady Thatcher died at the Ritz hotel at about 11am after suffering a stroke. Her children were not at her bedside as they were abroad. Her doctor and carer were there when she died.

David Neevel put a cool twist on writing emails as he invented a system that allows him to write emails using his electric guitar. Neevel works at Wieden & Kennedy advertising agency so this invention could be a publicity ploy but its still pretty interesting. Check out the video and see for yourself. Like the idea?

Formerly a filmmaker, Reese began this project when she enrolled in the photojournalism documentary photo program at ICP. One of her assignments was to capture “New York Underground”, which consequently led her to a train tunnel nicknamed the Batcave. There she discovered a complex community of people; Chuck, Lisa, Krissy, Snow White and Country, that operated much like a family. Reese was allowed to witness their stories as a mutual trust was formed.
