If you don’t know Bonnie McKee, it’s probably because you’re not famous. Because, seriously, it seems like she knows everyone who’s anyone in Hollywood. In fact, she knows them all so well, she was able to get them to appear in the video for her recent release ‘American Girl’ — which we can pretty much guarantee will be stuck in your head ‘Call Me Maybe’-style for the rest of the summer. It helps that McKee is a songwriter, and a successful one at that, so she’s worked with a lot of these people before. This is the woman who gave us Taio Cruz’ ‘Dynamite,’ Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Teenage Dream,’ and Britney Spears’ ‘Hold It Against Me’ — among many other pop hits that tend to take up residency on the looping playlist in your brain. So maybe it’s not surprising that Perry, Adam Lambert, Macklemore, Jason Derulo, Tommy Lee, everyone from ‘Fashion Police,’ KISS, Kathy Griffin, George Takei and a ton more stars were all willing to play along and be in her vid. Miley Cyrus made Jimmy Kimmel very uncomfortable on his own talk show last night (June 25), arriving in high-waisted underwear, a crop top, a jacket and some thigh-high boots. As you do. Then she talked about the “symbolism” in her music video ‘We Can’t Stop.’ SPOILER ALERT: It’s not really symbolism. After some stilted conversation between the host and his guest, Kimmel asked about her bizarre music video and the twisted imagery used throughout. Miley admitted that it was “based on true events” and a series of parties she’s thrown or attended, but that it’s also chock-full of symbolism too: While she just thought the french fry skull was cool, the taxidermied deer in sunglasses standing in front of several mirrors represents the kids. Even though it’s not a taxidermied baby goat. (What?) “You know, it’s like you’re feeling judged and then here’s this scrawny deer that to me just seems so sweet, and he seems like he would be judged, and so this is him looking at himself in the reflection,” she said, making us wonder how much pot “salvia” she smoked before she got there. “He’s got himself all swagged up, he’s trying to be something that he’s not, but he has to remember he can’t be judged.” As for that Miley-on-doll action, she’s wearing a necklace that says “doll” and she’s making out with a doll-version of herself so therefore … metaphor? Also, the dude eating bread is “symbolic for money.” Or munchies. Or something. Caleb C. isn’t a golf prodigy. No, he’s a golf rap prodigy. Caleb is a five-year-old kid who stars in this self-proclaimed “most anticipated golf rap video of the year” (are there others?) in which he raps about — you guessed it — just how much he loves golf. All we can say is that by the time you finish watching this, we guarantee you’ll be chanting “Drive! Drive! Chip! Chip! Putt! Putt! Throw your clubs up!” the rest of the day.

A Mexican grandmother has proven that it is never too late to go back to school. The classroom may be the last place you would expect to find most 100-year-olds, but Manuela Hernandez is far from your typical centurion. Growing up in a poor family in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, she spent only one year in grade school before the financial strain meant that she had to swap education for domestic chores. Speaking to Uno TV, Mrs Hernandez said, “I passed by the school many times but I couldn’t be a student because my mother was very poor.” Born in 1913, Manuela Hernandez was forced to trade in literacy and arithmetic for standing on a box to swat away flies. Now, a mere 90 years later, she has finally achieved her childhood dream. Mrs Hernandez was presented with her thoroughly well-earned diploma in a celebratory ceremony held in the southern Mexican state, in which over half of citizens over the age of 15 have not completed primary level education. But this academia-driven grandmother is not quite ready to exchange pens for slippers yet, as she now has her sights firmly set on high school. And who knows, college could be next on the list…

Legendary actress and singer Bette Midler initially met fan Anna Greenberg at a film screening, and when she heard Greenberg — who was dying of a rare form of cancer — had taken a turn for the worse, she gave her new friend a call and wound up serenading her. Got your Kleenex ready? Because seriously, you’re gonna need it. A family member of Anna’s video-taped the May 13 call, in which you can hear Bette on speaker phone saying, “You’re such a wonderful soul and I am so glad that I got the chance to meet you … You have enhanced my life probably as much as you say I have enhanced yours.” At around the 4:25 mark on the video, Midler asks Anna if there’s anything she can do for her. The dying girl asks Bette to sing ‘Wind Beneath My Wings,’ to which she graciously responds, “Of course, angel.” And then the Divine Miss M does an emotional and tear-filled version of the song. Anna died just a few days later. She was only 28.

To see just how forgiving Justin Bieber fans are of his transgressions, Jimmy Kimmel sent a reporter out to talk to Beliebers and ask them how they feel about his recent spate of heinous and/or ridiculous bad behavior. But here’s the catch: These aren’t things the Biebs actually did. The takeaway is that basically, Beliebers will forgive Justin anything, even if it’s desecrating national symbols, being illiterate or parking in handicap spots. In this segment of ‘Lie Witness News,’ Bieber fans are asked hilariously untrue questions like, “Are you upset because his new Bentley has tires made of baby seals?” And, “Do you think Justin meant it when he peed on the American flag?” Or our favorite, “Justin punched his grandma in the stomach so hard that she had to go to the hospital, is that okay?” Spoilers: According to his fans, Justin Bieber can punch all the grandmas he wants.
