We all have that Facebook friend who fills our feed with those perfect photos depicting the idyllic life we don’t have. There’s no need to get upset though because most of the time these people don’t live up to their photos either, as it is shown in a funny video by Hồ Anh Đức from Vietnam.

Pictures don't always depict what we think we are seeing, especially when they are taken at the perfect moment. You may see one thing in a photo and somebody else will see another, but your eyes aren't playing tricks on you, if you spend a few minutes examining a picture a lot of new details may show up. Whether they were taken purposely or just coincidently happened, some of these photos are serious illusions!

I started a project called #DoodleThisPic, which is focused on drawing on stranger’s instragram photos that I receive online. The photos are quite different, they might be featuring dogs, kids, food or scenery. First I make a rough sketch to lay down my idea on the image, then I make the final outline. Finally, I add colors and shades. I use a mobile and a laptop to produce this artwork. The challenge is to to make these photos funny and more interesting.

You know them, you hate them, but you also secretly love them – yes, obviously it’s the Kardashian family. It’s hard to look at a magazine or get on the Internet without seeing a photo of them. The media swarms around everything Kardashian-related and it’s no surprise – that family gives the media everything it wants. Take a look at the photos below to see some of the historic gems of the Kardashian Klan’s not-so-fabulous past.

Imagine spending hours getting ready for a nice family portrait only for the whole thing to fall apart! Well that is exactly what happened to all of these families and I cannot stop laughing.

Have you ever experienced a perfect moment that passed by so quickly and you wanted to go back so badly to do something about it but that wasn’t possible anymore? Everyone experiences that. My girlfriend Martina and I experienced one of those moments in Queenstown on our last day in New Zealand in 2013. And this very same moment turned our lives upside down.

I started this project where I add doodles to strangers’ photos on Instagram 2 months ago. I use my galaxy note 3 neo, to be specific. Users give me their photos online and I add a little fun to them by sketching whatever comes to my mind.

With the wonders modern medicine works every day, it's easy to forget how tough the early days of medicine were. Even as the scientific method informed the development of new drugs, techniques, and tools, there were plenty of quacks looking to cash in and few avenues to hold them to account. And there were mistakes. Lots of mistakes. For many patients, the cure was often as harrowing as the disease. So have a look at the photos below and be thankful that you're living in the 21st...

I’m Anna Larson, Owner of Anna Christine Photography in Olympia, WA. I unknowingly began this photo series of my daughters two years ago by photographing them at play. Semenesh was adopted from Ethiopia five years ago, while Haven is my biological daughter. Their close connection was evident through the images and I saw a similarity that had bloomed from friendship. They are their own individuals with very different personalities, yet I see so many similarities because of their closeness.

“Flotsam//waterplants” is a series that captures the complex natural beauty and movement of flowers and plants when exposed to the elements of moving water, in particular the subtlety in their structure, texture and form. Constantly drawn back to using plants and flowers in my work, I wanted to strip back and simplify from my previous work and let the flowers speak for themselves, as though I am taking their portraits. The added element of water was initially a way to highlight the natural...

A few years back we got our first family pet, a Ragdoll cat named Lucy. A year later we got another one and named her Irie. I fell in love with documenting these friendships, and a project was born. Each of my boys shares a different relationship with the cats. My oldest son is by far the most obsessed with the cats. He tries to smuggle one in to his bedroom every night.

Akira Oozawa, is a graphic designer. He was taking pictures of his identical twin daughters while they have childhood fun. These two girls look like they have so much fun posing in front of the camera, snacking on sweets, exploring the world and doing whatever else they can come up with.

Be very careful when you ask someone on the Internet to photoshop something for you, because you might just get what you asked for. That’s what happened to Dutch food blogger Sid Frisjes when he took a gag tourist photo of himself trying to touch the top of the Eiffel Tower and asked the online 4chan community to Photoshop it for him. The Photoshop “experts” replied with various interpretations of Frisjes’ request.

We imagine the past in black-and-white, but Mervyn O’Gorman was taking color photos using glass plates coated in potato starch in 1913. The technical name for this process is autochrome, and O’Gorman used it to take beautiful pictures of his daughter Christina wearing red in the British countryside. As the photos contain little to give their era away, they seem to be from no specific period; in fact, they almost weren’t taken at all.

Thomas Tourral is a self-taught amateur photographer living near the Alps, France. These mountains have always inspired him. He loves their epic landscapes, the contrasts between the rock, snow and the colors of the trees. The Alps offer a wide variety of landscapes, among the highlands, valleys with waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, etc. The best time for him to make his photographs are the evening, when the sun colors the clouds and make their way between the mountains.
