The rampaging ex. officer Chris Dorner has stolen yet another truck, which he abandoned, fled into the woods, and barricated himself in a remote cabine outside Big Bear, in Los Angeles oaks area after being confronted by the police. The authorites surrounded the cabin and a gun battle broke out in which 2 officers were injured and one was killed. After tear gas was fired into the cabin, the shooting stopped for a bit, and the cabin caught on fire, which is thought to have resulted from fire arm explosions. Later Dorners body was repotedly pulled out of the burned out cabin.

Robohand is a mechanical prosthetic hand that can be 3D printed at home from designs that are freely available on Thingiverse. The prosthetic is a collaboration between Richard Van As, a South African craftsman who lost four fingers in a work accident, and Ivan Owen, a Washington-based artist who makes mechanical hand sculptures. The duo collaborated over the Internet, meeting in person just once during the development process. The first Robohand was delivered to Liam, a five year old South African with no fingers on his right hand, and as this video shows, it works rather well. Some of the dishes exported by a french company, Findus have been found to be 100% horsemeat. such as the beef lasagnes. Comigel, the company which imports frozen beef producs from Fidus, supplies tonns of meals around 15 countries, is now facing a huge fine. People are disgusted, and there is an investigation going on with concerns of criminal activity. Although horse meat isn't bad for health, the fact that it has entered many European foods, including in schools, elderly houses, restaurants and hospitals is outrageous.

A 15 year old Pakistani girl Malala Yousufzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman, because she spoke out for young women, and created a blog on which she denounced Taliban for preventing girls from getting educated. While Malala was in the hospital Taliban proclaimed "We do not tolerate people like Malala speaking against us" followed by a vow to go after her again if she survives. She was discharged from the hospital of Birmingham, England yesterday after undergoing multiple surgeries to put her skull together and restore her hearing. Doctors believe that her recovery is a miracle! The brave young girl isn't going to give up on her message despite the obvious dangers. She recently spoke to the camera for the first time since the shooting saying "God has given me this new life. I want to serve the people. I want every girl, every child, to be educated." Wow what an inspiration!
The winner of Wednesday's Powerball jackpot won $217 million, according to ABC local affiliate WRIC. The sole ticket that hit the Powerball jackpot, matching all six numbers, was sold in Richmond, Va., NBC's WWBT in Richmond reports. The winning numbers in the Feb. 6 drawing of the multi-state lottery were 5, 27, 36, 38, 41 and the red Powerball number was 12. Wednesday's Powerball jackpot is the biggest single prize won since a record-breaking $588 million award was split between two tickets in November 2012. The next Powerball drawing will be on Saturday, Feb. 9, for $40 million. Powerball is played in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
