PBS was pretty slow to embrace the Internet, but in the last few years they’ve really gone full out. They’ve remixed Mr. Rogers, they’ve been doing some pretty compelling short documentaries about all sorts of topics. And their first dedicated webseries about video games, Game/Show, is… really interesting, actually. First of all, it’s hosted by James Warren of Kill Screen, who’s probably one of the better games journalists out there at the moment. Secondly, it makes a pretty compelling case that long after everybody reading this is dust, we’ll still be playing Mario games:

NINJA TURTLE Designs with More Traditional Ninja Armor (5 photo)

Here are a couple of great concept designs from artist Danny Mora that feature Michelangelo and Leonardo brandishing more traditional ninja weapons and armor. We have yet to see what the Turtles will look like in Jonathan Liebesman's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. If they look like something along these lines, I will be very pleased. I think armor and clothing would give some nice weight to the CG characters. I'd much rather see some progressively scuffed up clothing than pristine turtle skin the entire movie. Particularly in the Michelangelo design, you can also see that there's this romantic quality the flowing fabric adds to the piece -- much like Batman's cape in the comics and the Nolan films. 'Star Drunk' Proves All Sci-Fi Franchises Need More Booze (VIDEO) (2 photo + 2 video)

Ever wanted to see a sci-fi short film written and performed by drunk people? Well, that’s probably half of all films, but Star Drunk did it intentionally. Of course this happened in Portland. Star Drunk is an experiment in writing a short film while drunk; several writers from Portland got together one night to write the script. We promised each other that whatever we wrote that night, we’d produce as a short film. We ended up creating a Star Trek-Star Wars-Battlestar Galactica’esque parody with laser gun fights and space battles. Taking the concept a step further (and stranger), we asked our cast to be drunk on the night of filming. [ChrisRWilsonFilm] Those actors include Greg James, Adam Elliot Davis, Kyle Smith, Britt Harris, Alexander Fraser, and Bethany Jacobs (pictured above) doing an impression of Carol Marcus from Star Trek Into Darkness.

AMC’s hit show ‘Breaking Bad’ is drawing to a close. Perhaps to the dismay of some selfish fans out there, ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan correctly refused to produce integrity-killing plotlines (i.e. like how Pam and Jim get married on ‘The Office’) to further line his pockets with more dough. Lady Gaga May Pull Double Duty as Host + Musical Guest on 'SNL' (1 photo)

Lady Gaga will reportedly appear on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ for the third time come this fall, but unlike her past appearances, Mother Monster will be acting as both the host and the musical guest during an episode of the long-running comedy program. This will put Gaga in the same ranks as Justin Timberlake who recently did double duty on the show in one of the better episodes, as well as Justin Bieber, who was reportedly a good sport. A rep for NBC refused to comment on the reported lineup. Gaga has previously acted in small sketches on the show, including a digital short with Timberlake and Andy Samberg and a face off with Madonna as herself. She will also make her acting debut on the big screen next month in the purposeful B-movie ‘Machete Kills.’ She’s not going into this completely blind. Basically, the 39th season of the sketch comedy show is in for an interesting year. Even more so if Lindsay Lohan says yes to hosting for her sixth time.

When Is The 'Breaking Bad' Series Finale? That's A Big Night Of TV (1 photo + 1 video)

Sunday, September 29 is most notable for our purposes because it is the date of the series finale of Breaking Bad. That is, provided we all survive until then and don’t just start vibrating at such a high frequency from the intensity and breakneck pace of the episodes leading up to it that we burst into a billion zillion little particles and eventually settle back down to the earth as a fine, sand-like sediment layer on the crust. (Scientists thousands of years from now will refer to this as the Heisenberg layer. It will be totally devoid of nutrients, but if you put your ear very close to it, you will hear it ramble on and on about its feelings about Skyler and what it thinks Walt did with the ricin.) But that’s not the only thing on television that night. Far from it. Sunday, September 29 also features a primetime football game on NBC (always a ratings juggernaut), an episode of Boardwalk Empire on HBO, and a SLEW of premieres, including: Homeland; the final season of Eastbound & Down; The Good Wife; The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and the rest of Fox’s animation block; The Amazing Race for reality TV fans; and the series premiere of both Lizzy Caplan’s Masters of Sex and Stephen Merchant’s Hello Ladies. Now, none of this is to say that anything in that paragraph should prevent you from watching the series finale of one of the best television dramas of the past decade or so. Today brings us the first official image (not including all the viral stuff and Comic-Con pictures) from Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, a title that’s little by little turning me into a Vietnamese spam bot every time I type it. Obviously, it’s a big deal for anyone who’s a fan of Earth tones. A movie that shows us what the characters looked like in the seventies! Can you imagine? Has this ever been done in a movie before? Maybe it will explain how Professor X went bald as a cueball. He’s like 30 in this and his hairline doesn’t even have power alleys. n yesterday’s next day Breaking Bad discussion a lot of you voiced your confusion and calls of bullsh*t as to how and when the light finally turned on for Jesse with regards to the ricin theft/Brock poisoning/Huell’s delicate hot dog fingers. Even Anderson Cooper didn’t know what the hell was going on. I personally felt like the groundwork had been sufficiently laid down and it made for a better reveal that they didn’t hold our hand through it. Bill Hader sat down with Jimmy Kimmel last night and pretty much never got up, doing an extended interview and then playing sidekick during a Richard Simmons visit. It was all great and if you’re the Hader fans we are you should watch every second. There’s getting stranded in Martha’s Vineyard at Seth Meyers’s wedding, people having sex during He Got Game, and geeking out on famous directors during “Laser Cats.” But most importantly and hilariously of all there’s Hader describing the scene at James Franco’s Comedy Central Roast and how he goes way back with James. That starts at the 1:45 mark above in Part 3 of the interview but gets top billing because it’s perfect.

A Supercut Of 'Thomas The Tank Engine' Crashes Set To 'Bodies' (1 photo + 1 video)

I suppose, in the interest of being as accurate and responsible as possible, I should point out a couple things. First, this supercut of crashes from Thomas the Tank Engine set to “Let the Bodies Hit the Floor” was posted on YouTube over two years ago, and it already has close to 150,000 views, so it’s not exactly the hippest, freshest thing we’ve ever posted here. But I just saw it for the first time a few minutes ago on Laughing Squid and it cracked me up a little, so here we are. Second, technically speaking, the title of the show is actually Thomas & Friends, not Thomas the Tank Engine, and the title of the Drowning Pool song in question is just “Bodies,” which makes my headline inaccurate at best and willfully ignorant at worst.
