11 sep 2015 14:48
When college student Emily Musson started sharing selfies taken with her boyfriend on Facebook, she underestimated just how trolly her parents can be. Now, their hilarious renditions of their daughter’s selfies have gone viral – much to her chagrin. Once the photos went viral, Musson’s response was less than enthusiastic; “My parents r actually on drugs or something,” she tweeted. “I mean I guess it’s funny but not like 30k favs funny.”

My favourite way of photographing my papercuts is to hold them against the sky; I love the dramatic effect this gives, and the variation of colours and textures in the sky as a backdrop. Plus this way you can see my intricate cutting more clearly.

Wolfdog Loki Who Lives The Adventurous Life
10 sep 2015 13:51
I’m often surprised by how much joy animals can bring into our lives. Even more, the joy that comes from healthy relationships with them is really amazing. It seems hard to describe so I typically don’t try. Loki’s Instagram is really the product of that hard-to-describe emotion. Additionally, I believe dogs aren’t meant to live out their lives in a backyard or inside a house. I hate to see that. I hope we are inspiring people to get out, explore our world, and make memories with their pups.

Art Therapist Paints Mandalas On Vinyl Records

Sara Roizen paints impermanence on vinyl records. The master of art therapy graduate uses “acrylic paint, stencils, gels, paint pens, ink, colored pencil, and more” to create colorful mandalas on these dated discs. “My approach as an artist has always centered around the process rather than the finished product,” Roizen writes online. “I work spontaneously and intuitively in the studio in a form of dialogue between myself and the materials. This process is a constant self-exploration, often...

Adding Doodles To People’s Instagram Photos
08 sep 2015 10:39
I started a project called #DoodleThisPic, which is focused on drawing on stranger’s instragram photos that I receive online. The photos are quite different, they might be featuring dogs, kids, food or scenery. First I make a rough sketch to lay down my idea on the image, then I make the final outline. Finally, I add colors and shades. I use a mobile and a laptop to produce this artwork. The challenge is to to make these photos funny and more interesting.

Niigata Prefecture, Japan, has thought of a novel way to use the straw left over from their rice harvest. A “wara” or rice-straw festival is held every August 31st, where local artists build elaborate straw sculptures over wooden frames. I Photograph Dogs Left Home Alone By Their Humans
04 sep 2015 13:48
My name is Maija Astikainen and I’m a photographer from Helsinki, Finland. I’ve been photographing pet dogs for several years for my project ‘One-Dog Policy’. I’m interested in the way we think of pets as something in between human and animal, and started exploring that in my photography project. Pets are often humanized, treated as family members and “furry babies”. Simultaneously they represent fragments of wild nature in our homes, and humanlike creatures just like us.
