Norway Has World’s First Bike Escalator

Bicycling is a cheap and healthy way to get around, but a steep hill can become a casual cyclist’s Achilles’ heel. Luckily, the Norwegian city of Trondheim has a solution to this problem – a bike escalator. Invented in the 90’s by a commuter who grew tired of showing up to work sweaty and exhausted, the Trampe lift, recently upgraded and reinvented as the CycloCable, has already carried over 200,000 bicyclists up this 150m-long cyclist deterrent. Cyclists who place one foot on the...

Shayna Leib’s Art

Meet Shayna Leib, an American glassblowing artist, whose magical art can make your heart stop in amazement. She works with different materials but prefers glass “not for its mimetic qualities to capture the look of other materials, but for it’s ability to express flow, freeze a moment in time, and manipulate optics.”

Although these images may look like snapshots of celebrities, they're actually the handiwork of Jack Ede, an 18-year-old artist who creates amazingly photorealistic portraits. Even if the kids find they're having trouble creating their own character, the company's website provides a variety of templates (designed by illustrator Echean Edmundson) to choose from and build upon, whether that means adding extra legs, perhaps another eyeball, some sort of prop, or simply coloring the character in to their heart's content.

Ttrulli Alberobello, Italy‎

The stone huts and streets of this Italian city look like a scene from a fairytale. The buildings you see before you are called trulli. The rise in popularity of such houses was in 19th century when they were constructed as storehouses and temporary field shelters or as permanent shelters by agricultural laborers and small proprietors. Wouldn’t it be amazing to own such a house? To become engulfed by the fairytale as you sip a cup of coffee, looking out of a small window onto a crowded street.

Impressive 3D Street Art Created with Recycled Materials

Portuguese street artist Artur Bordalo, aka Bordalo II, uses mixed media to create his own interpretations of the urban landscape and environment. He often composes his works using various found items that he merges together into beautiful forms. In that sense, his street art is unique because it appears slightly three-dimensional and is presented in surprisingly tactile formations.

Sculpture by Yoshitoshi Kanemaki

There are many ways to interpret the creations of Yoshitoshi Kanemaki, whose works usually involve sculptures of people where two or more characters have merged into a single being. Possibly, Yoshitoshi Kanemaki is trying to express through his sculptures that everyone’s soul is multifaceted. Good emotions are mixed with the bad, love is mixed with hate, contempt with admiration.
