Moose Family Jumps For Joy When A Woman Saves Them From Heatwave
04 jun 2015 12:31
Moose frolicking on your lawn is an unusual sight, but Candice Helm of Eagle River, Alaska, recently had the pleasure. Temperatures had reached a hot (for Alaska) 21.6 C on Sunday when Helm spotted a mother moose and twin calves in distress. Her solution was simple genius.

My name is Tom Lynall and I carve small pencil sculptures for a hobby. I am from Birmingham, UK and have been a jeweler for 11 years. In November last year I was sitting in my workshop and picked a pencil and thought I’d carve a little heart into the tip, little did I know this would start me off on one of the most engrossing hobbies I have ever had.

Designer Turns Food Into Adorable Art
04 jun 2015 11:03
Mundane Matters makes things using everyday objects. Although mostly using food (we’ve been seeing a lot of beautiful creations using food these days), there is also something that is very unique. All these works have been created spontaneously, mostly on a daily basis. Not one image is planned and she just let her feeling guide her through to the end results.

Christian McPhilamy endured bullying for 2 1/2 years to grow his hair long for a very special purpose
04 jun 2015 10:43
2 and a half years ago, then-6-year-old Christian McPhilamy decided to grow his hair long. He was teased at school and often mistaken for a girl, but he never changed his mind because he had a very special goal – to donate 10-inch-long locks of his hair to make wigs for children being treated for cancer.

The Idea For How To Make Ocean Clean Itself Will Be Launched in Japan
04 jun 2015 10:02
Boyan Slat, a 20-year-old innovator in the Netherlands, has a lot on his plate – he’s set out to do nothing less than rid the oceans of the millions of tons of plastic garbage that circle along their currents. The massive rotating currents in the world’s oceans make collecting or even monitoring garbage difficult, but Slat’s Ocean Cleanup Foundation is developing a way to use those currents to its advantage. Slat envisions long-distance arrays of floats that would skim garbage from the...

We are Manik & Ratan, twin brothers based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. We both are cartoonist, animators and also designers. We post our everyday doodles on Instagram profile. Once we posted a cartoon dragon. Somehow that dragon looked so adorable that we thought, what if it interacted with the pencil. So we drew the dragon which was poked by a pencil. It was so much fun seeing that dragon was annoyed. Later, we tried it to interact with other daily objects like stapler, cell phone or Lego. We...

Some facts just sound too good, or too bizarre, to be true. It's funny how strange our world really is when you stop and think about it. Like, did you know there's a Banyan tree out there that's bigger than your average Walmart? Uhhh... what? How is that even possible?

When my wife and I were expecting our first child I made a switch from using a paintbrush or etching needle in my art to using a common office stapler. Since I have a home studio, I didn’t want the toxicity of these traditional materials to affect our unborn child. All my life I had the need to create but now it was imperative to do so with healthier alternatives. I think my staple mosaics are not a far departure from the etchings or cityscape oil paintings that I am known for. Staples, just...

My name is Marc Bushelle and I’m a Brooklyn based photographer. I have been recreating photos of heroines with my wife Janine and our 5-year-old daughter Lily. We started this photo series as a way to teach Lily about history and these heroines in a fun and creative way. We didn’t want to only cover the usual picks but also wanted to include some unexpected women that were trailblazers in their own right.

These surreal frog and toad photos look like they're from a sci-fi movie, but are real examples of these amphibians' diversity. They are found almost everywhere around the world, and range in size from a tiny 7.7 mm (0.3 inches) to the goliath frog's whopping 32 cm (12.6 inches). The world frog population is in rapid decline, and over 1/3 of all frog species are threatened with extinction. Many scientists believe that amphibians are a good biological indicator of broader...

I’m Just A Birdy Too

I grew up loving fantasy art and stories. The dragons that inhabited them always felt like the most imposing of characters. I loved imagining what they would look like. I try work humor into my work as much as I can, there is so much inspiration out there. Cats and dogs inspire me with the funny things they do, old sayings and jokes, even the news. It really makes me happy to see people smile, both young and old as they look through the modern dragons.

LATA 65 wants the elderly to get involved in street art
29 may 2015 09:33
Graffiti and street art have both often served to deepen the rift of misunderstanding between young and old, but there’s one art organization in Lisbon, Portugal that’s working to change that. LATA 65 works to destroy age stereotypes and turn senior citizens into street artists by providing them with spray paint cans, masks and gloves and finding them free spots in the city to tag up and paint!

What’s Inside Your Favorite Childhood Toys?
29 may 2015 08:57
Popular toys that have been cut in half and filled with a realistic skeleton and organs are Maryland, USA, Jason Freeny’s specialty. Although his father was a sculptor, Freeny worked as an industrial designer until he lost his job in the financial crisis. When he ran out of money after six months, Freeny began to sculpt, too. A $50 sale on eBay, three times what he expected, was the first indicator to Freeny that he might be on to something. Soon, orders were pouring in, and he now sells...

Steampunk Submarine-Themed Pub In Romania
