Michael Douglas Says Oral Sex Can Both Cause and Cure Throat Cancer (3 photo)

Back in 2010, Michael Douglas was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer, and while most people thought it was due to a longtime cocktail of cigarettes and booze, Douglas is now going on the record saying it was actually caused by the sexually-transmitted disease HPV, which he contracted during some marathon rounds of administering oral sex. He’s a real giver, that one. Douglas admitted to the Guardian, “I did worry [at the time] if the stress caused by my son’s incarceration didn’t help trigger it. But yeah, it’s a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. And if you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it.” Not ones to just take someone’s word for it (even someone who played Liberace so convincingly), the Guardian sought the medial expertise of neck surgeon Mahesh Kumar, who told the paper, “It has been established beyond reasonable doubt that the HPV type 16 is the causative agent in oropharyngeal cancer.” That said, he didn’t think HPV was the sole cause of Douglas’ cancer, nor is more oral sex the cure for it: “Maybe he thinks that more exposure to the virus will boost his immune system. But medically, that just doesn’t make sense.” After having chemo, Douglas has been cancer-free for two years now and is optimistic he will remain so, as this type of cancer only has a 5 percent chance of returning. Meaning Michael Douglas is once again free to, uh, be as cunning with his lingus as he likes.

Grumpy Cat’s manager Ben Lashes and her rep Al Hassas have cut a movie deal with Todd Garner and Sean Robins of Broken Road Productions “to produce and assemble a package for a Garfield-like feature film with the famous frowning feline at the center.” Lashes was featured in The Wall Street Journal, alongside a stipple portrait of Grumpy Cat, where he discusses the other deals he’s helped make for her including a line of Grumpy Cat coffee-in-cans and bottled beverages and a forthcoming book titled, Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book: Disgruntled Tips and Activities Designed to Put a Frown on Your Face. Frozen Fruit Mix Related Hepatitis A Outbreak Strikes 5 States. (3 photo)

There has been an outbreak of frozen fruit mix related hepatitis A. 30 people from California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada have been infected. Many of them reported eating Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend, a mix of frozen berries and pomegranate seeds. The virus has been traced to contaminated pomegranate seeds from Turkey that are used in the mix. So far only Costco received the product and has removed it from the shelves. The Food and Drug Administration and the CDC continues the investigation.

A source told The Sun, “When Beyonce found out they had edited the way her body really looked, she hit the roof. She’s a true diva and was furious that she had been given such a snubbing. Her people refused to give the pictures the green light so H&M were forced to use the originals.” Um, have you seen these pictures? What in God’s name could they have tried to improve? “As with all campaigns there are discussions on which images should be used,” a rep for the retailer admitted. “Both H&M and Beyonce are very happy with the final result.” So is every other hot-blooded human on Earth.

Mammoth Blood Found In A Well Preserved Carcass! Is Cloning On The Horizon? (5 photo)

Researchers from the Northeast Federal University in Yakutsk found a well preserved 10,000-year-old female mammoth carcass buried in ice on the Lyakhovsky Islands. When scientists poked the frozen body with a pick dark blood flowed out, which shocked everyone. "The fragments of muscle tissues, which we've found out of the body, have a natural red color of fresh meat. The reason for such preservation is that the lower part of the body was underlying in pure ice," said Semyon Grigoriev, the head of the expedition and of the university's Mammoth Museum. How exciting is that? May be we'll get to see a live mammoth after all. Cloning could be on the way.

A suspicious letter that was sent to the the White House and addressed to President Barack Obama was intercepted by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force for investigation. The Secret Service said that this letter was similar to letters sent to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and a gun-control group he founded. It also contained a small amount of poison called ricin, which when inhaled, ingested or injected even in small amounts can kill a person within 48 hours causing failure of the circulatory and respiratory systems and to which there is no antidote.

Russian scientists have announced the recovery of well-preserved woolly mammoth blood and tissue from a 10,000-year-old female carcass found on the New Siberian Islands off the coast of Siberia. The Russian scientists and their partners from the South Korean Sooam Biotech Research Foundation hope to use the blood and tissue to clone a woolly mammoth. The Russian team was astonished to find the blood in a liquid state, despite that fact that the carcass was surrounded by ice. They theorize that the blood may contain a kind of natural antifreeze.

Miura, who also conquered the 29,035-foot (8,850-meter) peak when he was 70 and 75, reached the summit at 9:05 a.m. local time Thursday, May 22. Truly and inspiring and motivational story. The last time Tom Waits went on a tour that didn’t involve the acronym “PEHDTSCKJMBA” (which stood for each of the tour’s stops, i.e. Phoenix, El Paso, Houston, Dallas, etc., obviously) was back in 2006, when he hit the road behind his wonderful Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards compilation. And before that, 2004. Waits rarely travels anymore, possibly because it’d be impossible for him to fit his garage full of rusty instruments into the tour bus, but more likely because he doesn’t need to. He spent nearly all of the 1970s and much of the 1980s traveling from Cleveland to Akron, and no one, be they in their 20s or 60s, should ever have to do that more than once. So it was a treat when Waits joined a bunch of other near-senior citizens, the Rolling Stones, on-stage during their stop in Oakland last night. They performed a growling rendition of “Little Red Rooster,” one that Howlin’ Wolf would have loved, assuming he could have heard it over the sound of his laughter at Mick’s struts.

Carrie Underwood has a somewhat inexplicable reputation as an ice queen, something she vehemently denies. And she may well have proved it by warming a lot of hearts with a huge charitable gesture. The ‘American Idol’ alum and Checotah, Okla. native donated a whopping $1 million — yes, million — to relief efforts following the devastating tornadoes in her home state. Oklahoma, particularly areas around Oklahoma City, suffered at least 24 deaths, including children, and massive destruction to homes and businesses following several F5 twisters. “I have watched the devastation in my home state of Oklahoma over the past several days with great sadness,” Underwood said in a press release (via News OK). “With the help of my fans who attended my concerts over the past year, we can offer the Red Cross a little extra help in comforting those affected by the recent tornadoes.” The $1 million donation was derived from Underwood’s concert proceeds from her now awkwardly titled Blown Away tour. This wasn’t the first time she gave away a big chunk of concert change, either — earlier in her tour she dropped coin on Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The Red Cross, obviously, couldn’t be more thrilled. “The impact of the tornadoes in Oklahoma and the Midwest was devastating and the road to recovery will be long for many families,” the organization said in a statement. “Through the generosity of Carrie, the American Red Cross can quickly respond with shelter, food and comfort now, and with lasting help as they move toward recovery.” Doesn’t sound like sociopath behavior, now does it?

A 23-year-old Canadian man (and complete creeper) has been apprehended in Jennifer Lawrence‘s hometown of Louisville, Ky. after harassing her family in an attempt to meet her. Zhao Han Cong of Vancouver, British Columbia, was cited for interstate stalking and repeated harassing phone communications after continuously calling and texting Blaine Lawrence, the ‘Hunger Games’ star’s brother, according to an affidavit written by FBI agent Richard Boswell III. Using the pseudonym “Ted,” Cong began sending Blaine texts asking to be put in contact with his famous sister so he might “protect” her. He also referenced the Boston bombing, blaming Blaine for allowing Jen to film her latest project in Boston in the weeks before the attack. After commenting on the “bad things” he thought would befall the Lawrence family, Cong eventually relinquished his real name and address in Canada — totally reasonable. But then he continued to email Blaine, telling his life story, relating bible passages to Jennifer and saying he was her “husband for life.” (We understand that Jen’s hotness can bring about something similar to a religious experience, but not cool, dude.) On April 18, after more messages, Cong actually flew to Louisville and set out to meet the actress, sending Blaine the message, “You got me really upset. When I’m, when I’m upset, let’s see what happens, alright?” Cong then took a cab to the Indian Hills Police Department and played it real cool by asking for the address of Lawrence’s mom, whereupon he was immediately taken into custody and interviewed for three hours — during which he confessed to being the second coming of Jesus, saying Jen’s mom held the key to his mission. In summary, Jesus came back as an Asian-Canadian to chat with Jennifer Lawrence’s mom, just like the bible said he would. As you might imagine, Cong underwent a psych evaluation and was hospitalized in the Central State Hospital where he used his one phone call to dial — guess who — Blaine Lawrence. After his release he was re-arrested and federal complaints were filed, and the nightmare is hopefully over for Jen and her family.

You may not have heard of them but Mara Savatrucha (aka MS-13) are easily one of the largest and most fear criminal gangs in the world. Spread across continental US, El Salvador, Honduras & even Guatemala their membership has swollen to well over 50,000 members. Particularly in the US where they first rose to prominence, local Los Angeles police regularly deport immigrant Salvadoran gang members back to El Salvador -a case of shifting the problem from one area to another. As a result of deportation, cities like San Salvador (the capital of El Salvador) are now home to some of the highest rates of violent crime and murder in the world. Illuminated Animals, Dazzlingly Brought To Life | So Bad So Good (6 photo + 1 video)

We’re big fans of conventional street art, there will always be a place for a trusty spray-can and paint brush. But now digital projection mapping is becoming more and more commonplace, giving everyday objects a limitless new lease on life. Take these two large sculptures of a rhinoceros & owl (a random pairing we have to admit) in Rotterdam, Holland for example. They were featured at the Rotterdamse Museumnacht as part of the Rotterdam Museum Night, whereby art is taken to the streets and outside of the gallery space. Both were created by Sober Industries and Studio Rewind, their panels uniquely mapped & made interactive by Bruce Moerdjiman. Members of the public could then actually control the type of visuals that were then displayed on the creatures themselves, including altering the colours and toggling different effects like blending & scratching. You can see it all in motion in the video below, it’s a dazzling collision between design, physics, sculpture and colour and it’s pretty captivating to watch unfold.

Mary J. Blige Owes Another $3.4 Million in Unpaid Taxes to Uncle Sam (3 photo)

Sublime songstress Mary J. Blige has been hit with yet another tax lien — this one totaling $3.4 million for unpaid taxes in Bergen County, N.J. Sounds like even 2013 won’t offer her a break. According to sleuths, she owes the “IRS $574.907 from 2009, $2.2 million from 2010 and $647,604 from 2011.” This on top of her charity being sued and separate liens for just over $900K in back taxes she supposedly owes the state of New Jersey. Blige was also sued by Bank of America for not paying back a $500,000 loan or the interest. What’s more, she and her husband are the defendants in another lawsuit for defaulting on a $2.2 million loan back in November of 2012. Given this mess, one of two things must be true: Either Mary J. drowned kittens in orphans tears in a past life, or she simply doesn’t know how money works.

Didn’t Yahoo realize that they’re dealing with a community of unemployed millennials who have nothing to do with their time but make GIFs and memes? Because that’s what happened. Here’s how Tumblr is reacting to becoming part of the Yahoo community.

As you may have heard if you logged on to the Interwebs today, Yahoo bought Tumblr for $1.1 billion, and immediately freaked out basically everyone on Tumblr.

Japanese chef Miki Nozawa was killed by two unhappy diners in Germany. According to German Newspapaer Sylt Rundschau, the two men 36 and 50 wanted their money back because they didn't like the fried noodles served by the chef at his snack bar in Sylt. They left without paying, and later ran into Nozawa at a bar in Westerland, in which the conflict continued. They savagely beat up the 57 year old Nozawa and he ended up in the hospital with internal bleeding and severe brain injuries. He died of brain hemorrhage the next day. The two men were arrested, but later released due to lack of evidence.
