If you haven’t already guessed, we’re big fans of portrait art here on SBSG, but we have to admit it’s not every day you see artwork painted using merely a basketball!
But that’s precisely the tool Malaysian artist Hong Yi used to create her portrayal of Chinese basketball player Yao Ming. Below is a time-lapse video of her bouncing the ball and bringing her creation to life using nothing more than red paint.
Quite how she achieved such an impressive feat is still somewhat of a mystery, but then again that’s half the fun isn’t it? In her own words “I love to paint, but not with a paintbrush.”, she’s true to her word too. You can see the full range of her artistic experiments via redhongyi.com, there’s not a brush in sight.

We've seen photos of German sex boxes about three years ago. This time the authorities of the Swiss city of Zurich placed the sex boxes in their city. A prostitute must pay about $5.40 a day to use these boxes. The couple must stay inside the car during the whole process. The boxes are opened from 5pm till 5am.

There have been few dinners parties quite like it. It’s December 12 back in 1972, the night at which Marie-Hélène de Rothschild held her famous Surrealist Ball at Ferrières. As you can probably guess by her surname, she was a member of the ultra-wealthy Rothschild banking family. To be invited as a guest, was the ultimate seal of approval from Parisian high-society.

The third Toy Story movie went to some dark places, but it didn’t go all the way to the alcoholic murder hotel. Artist Kyle Lambert rectifies that obvious oversight with his digital paintings, which cast Pixar’s talking toys as characters from Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic The Shining. See what happens when all work and no play makes Woody a dull toy.
Lambert explains that he created this series after reading Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich’s tweets about The Shining, which Unkrich says inspired him to become a filmmaker. After creating these paintings on the iPad Brushes app, he printed a poster of the entire series, which he gave to Unkrich. Fortunately, he’s also released all 25 images online.

Although currently living in the United States, crochet artist Olek recently returned to her native country of Poland for an epic project. Over the course of two straight (and rainy) days, Olek and her team of four assistants ‘yarn bombed’ an entire locomotive with two freight cars in tow. Olek had already crocheted many of the panels beforehand but they still had to be assembled to cover the train.
The team worked through the night to pull off the massive undertaking, debuting the crocheted train on July 13th. It will be on display in Lodz, Poland, until August 19th. The project was done in collaboration with the city and was authorized. She calls the piece ‘Deadly Romance’.

Quaint though they may be, we’ve come a long way from this hellishly misleading smoking advertisements from yesteryear.
Actor Edmund Lowe once proudly declared:
“It’s that delightful taste after a cup of coffee that makes Luckies a hit with me. And naturally I protect my voice with Luckies. No harsh irritants for me…..I reach for Lucky instead. Congratulations on your improved Cellophane wrapped. I can open it.”

For artist Ariana Page Russell, a light scratch on her body turns into swollen, reddish, raised skin. This allergic reaction is due to a medical condition known as dermatographia. Rather than shying away from her affliction and seeking to conceal it, Russell exposes her skin disorder in a visually arresting way for her series titled Skin.

Last December, these Disney princess inspired dresses debuted at the Harrods’ Christmas window display. The dresses were collaborated on by designers Versace, Valentino, Marchesa, Elie Saab, and Jenny Packham. Now the fancy frocks will be auctioned off at Christie’s to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. That’s right—now you can have your very own designer Disney princess gown! I mean, provided you’re the highest bidder.

Make up artist Lex Fleming did this series of Dr. Seuss body art. She’s got One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, The Cat In The Hat, The Lorax, and more! They’re all super impressive not to mention incredibly nostalgic. Reminds me of my pappy learning me how to read all those years ago. I was a late bloomer, so like, two, maybe three years ago. But I’m not ashamed. As they say: better late than never. Or as pappy used to tell me: you aren’t getting any younger and you were never that good looking to start off with. Maybe it’s time you learned how to read.

In his final semester of architecture school, graduate student Hank Butitta grew tired of completing conceptual projects that only existed on paper and decided to bring an assignment to life. With this drive, Butitta impulsively bought a school bus off of Craigslist for $3,000 with the intention of redesigning it into a mobile home for his final project. The idea gained traction and the support of professional architects and instructors, prompting the ambitious architect to actually transform the vehicle.

In an incredible display of adorable creativity, redditor ppaul9 wrote a children’s book about his relationship with his girlfriend in order to propose to her. After having it illustrated and printed, he worked with a covert photographer who stuck the book in the kids section of their local library and then waited behind some shelves to document the proposal. While they were on a date, the couple stopped at the library to return some books and check out some more for the girlfriend’s nieces and nephews. The boyfriend pulled out his book, told her it looked like a good one, and asked her to read it to him.

I blame Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Every since Madonna contributed “Beautiful Stranger” to the second installment in Mike Myers’s increasingly terrible spy spoof film series, it’s all been downhill. The “American Pie” cover. The string of uninspiring albums, from 2000′s Music to 2012′s MDNA. The dating of Alex Rodriguez. The fake British accent. The getting upstaged by M.I.A. The weird naked tributes. What happened?
Fat Bastard, that’s what happened. But today, on Madonna’s 55th birthday, let’s pay tribute to what she once was (one of the most inspiring, creative, brilliant icons in pop music), and not what she is today (Kate Winslet, if Kate Winslet owned a BDSM dungeon and pumped weights during breaks). Here are 12 of her finest GIFs.

Jennifer Lawrence gets a lot of play around here. That happens when you're perfect. Seriously, she exceeds even the highest expectations. Talent, honesty, self-deprecation, the ability to f-yeah never doing a topless scene and everyone liking her all the more for it. Yep, that's perfection.
So on her birthday we'd like to remind everyone how impossibly adorable she is with context-free GIFs that don't need context because she's Jennifer Lawrence.
Here's to you on your birthday, Jen. May it be chocked full of food and facial expressions.

I know what you’re thinking. Actually, I don’t — Obama does. It’s true. But if you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking of one of these two things at any given time:
Food
iPhone
While Apple has yet to release an edible iPhone (one day!), there are serious rumors floating around about a gold iPhone. Everyone from Techcrunch to iMore seems to be talking about it. It’s rumored that the gold iPhone will be part of the 5S series and not the super-cheap plastic iPhone 5C.
The golden iPhone will probably inspire more nerd boners than Olivia Wilde in a geisha outfit; there may be a possibility that Apple will make the gold iPhone a “limited edition” model like their U2 branded iPods from way back in 2004. Of course, this is Apple that we’re talking about — and the Apple rumor mill is pretty f**king ridiculous for all us simpletons out there.
Admit it. You want to touch it. You want to own it. You probably want to smell it. You want to walk down the street with it and have strangers genuflect at your feet. “There goes he,” they will say, “The man with the golden iPhone,” and you will know it to be true, and you shall harness the powers of the golden iPhone and become the master of the cellular universe. Or you’ll use it to text your last girlfriend at 4am after a night of near-prodigious drinking. You know. Whichever.

The pitter-patter of crazy Koolaid the bird’s feet makes while he runs after his ball in this video is probably the greatest sound ever. Sorry, Beethoven — yer DONE!
We hereby proclaim little Koolaid chasing his tiny ball the best sound to ever grace human ears. No seriously, watch it. It made us feel at LEAST as happy as we did the first time we heard ol’ Ludwig’s ninth symphony.

With enough money, you can pay two famous stuntwomen to reenact the epic chicken fight scene from ‘Family Guy.’ That’s what happened here.

Dina Goldstein brings us this series called Fallen Princesses. Or as I like to call it, Sadness with an extra shot of depresso. The photos feature the lives of fairy tale heroines post happily ever after. Snow White’s barefoot and pregnant, Pocahontas is a cat lady, Ariel’s trapped in an aquarium… mega sad stuff. If fairytales don’t even have happy endings, then none of us regular people have any hope. Granted, I didn’t have much to begin with, but now I got zero. BRB crying in the shower.

Art director, illustrator, and graphic designer Olaf Cuadras created a series of playful movie posters that transform each story into minimalist designs. In the series, simply called Minimal Movie Posters, the Barcelona-based artist developed concepts for some classics including The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, and Terminator 2.
The prints feature very simple, flat illustrations that portray the main characters of the stories, many of whom boast a bright pink nose in what seems to be Cuadras' signature style. The bold blocks of color and simple fonts reflect the vibe of the movies, while many of the cartoon depictions are actually quite recognizable.
Cuadras also pairs the characters with various props. For example, in the Die Hard depiction, Bruce Willis's character points his machine gun to the sky with a burning building in the background. In The Big Lebowski depiction, The Dude and Walter stand atop the central plot point, the ruined rug. Any movie fans out there will just love the very fun and vibrant collection that visually captures the essence of each film.

So, Call of Duty: Ghosts! It’ll have an all-new graphics engine and new doggy buddies, which is cool and all, but what CoD fans really need to know about is the multiplayer. What’s being added to the multiplayer? Well, quite a bit as it turns out.
Scroll down for a few CoD: Ghosts multiplayer details and a new trailer…
Okay, a lot of this is Greek to me, since I’m absolutely terrible at games like CoD and their ilk, but I’ll try to relay the basics…
- Character customization is going to be big in the game. The makers of CoD: Ghosts are promising their character editor is deep enough to create at least 20,000 unique combinations.
- Oh, and you can create lady soldiers this time around, because murder and teabagging is just more fun in mixed company, don’t you think?
- You can create up to 10-soldiers, each with a unique look and loadout.
- News modes such as “Cranked”, in which a kill basically gives you a dose of speed, but also starts a 30-second timer during which you must get another kill, “Search and Rescue” where teammates can revive you if they grab your tags before the enemy, or “Squads” in which you get to put together custom squads to take on missions.
- Of course there will be all sorts of new guns, killstreaks, maps and everything else you’d expect as well.
Here’s the trailer…

I didn’t think we’d find a video involving the performance of a classic song better than yesterday’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart” impressionist, but this Elton John mashup is downright awesome. Posted to YouTube last October, this video shows the legendary singer/songwriter performing his 1970 classic “Your Song” over the span of four decades, and the editing job is just perfect. The result is simply marvelous, and I can’t believe that it only has 2,554 views.
In fact, if someone walked up to me on the street and said, “Quick, show me a perfect YouTube video,” I’d show him this one. Or maybe this one. But probably the Elton John video.

Oh Internet, when will you ever stop trying to kill innocent celebrities? Like Jon Bon Jovi and Nelson Mandela before him, the latest celebrity to be hit with a death hoax is former Chicago Bears defensive tackle William “Refrigerator” Perry, who was declared dead earlier today in a post at TigerNet.com that has since been deleted. TigerNet covers Clemson University athletics, as the Fridge played football for the Tigers.
As with any good game of Internet telephone, TigerNet’s report quickly spread on Twitter, as Bears fans and NFL fans in general began mourning the loss of the 50-year old big man, who holds the record for the largest Super Bowl ring ever created with a ridiculous size 25. But the rumors were bound to hit Perry’s friends and family and some point, and eventually even the man himself.

I know this person who definitely isn't me who finds pictures of tragically-in-love couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher together, and crosses out Kutcher's smug mug and replaces it with their own. Again, it's NOT me, but, well, I can see where not-me is coming from. Mila Kunis is one of our favorite people; not even her voicing Meg Griffin, one of TV's most worn-out characters, can decrease our admiration of Ukraine's finest export.
Today's Mila's 30th birthday, so in honor of all things her, here are her 15 finest contributions to GIF culture.

A bar mitzvah is the Jewish rite of passage where a boy becomes a man. This video proves it may also be when a boy becomes a rock star.
Sam Horowitz had his bar mitzvah last November, but the video of his entrance to the party afterwards is only now making the rounds.
It’s like he landed in the middle of a Beyonce concert and then busted out his own Justin Bieber-inspired moves. Considering he’s at the age when most boys are terrified at the prospect of slow dancing with a girl, this kid shows off some serious skills dancing with women — scantily-clad ones, at that.
It’s enough to make you say “Oy!”
What do you think — is Sam’s entrance cool or is it too over the top?

Starting to make its way around the web is this incredibly adorable series called Pucker of babies sucking on lemons for the very first time. Photographer David Wile captured the babies' priceless expressions which will make you do everything from purse your own lips to laugh out loud. Wearing just a bib on top and set against a blue background, the babies really show all of their emotions. Of course, it's safe to say that no babies were harmed in this production. In fact, some even seemed to enjoy the sensory shocking experience!
If you'll remember, David Wile is the same photographer who was behind Splash, the fun photo series documenting the hilarious expressions of people and animals who got a bucket of water poured on their heads. My guess is that he loves seeing authentic reactions.

People watching the ‘Breaking Bad‘ season premiere on Sunday knew they were seeing something magical when Badger began detailing his script for a ‘Star Trek’ movie, and now we can see said movie (sort of) realized. We’re not sure how he achieved such a quick turn around, but comedian / illustrator Matt Czap quickly created this amazing animated version of the story.
