These teens were not aware that Egyptian authorities do not deal nicely with people dressed revealingly in public. What started as a continuation of the popular Harlem shake video trend, ended badly for the participants with supposed arrest and charges for performing "scandalous acts" in front of the pyramids in Cairo, after the residents in the area complained to the authorities. Allegedly, the teens were beaten by the crowd.

Elderly Chinese women are being targeted by scammers in San Francisco. This is a well known international "bagging scam". A woman comes up to the grandma and asks for directions, then a second woman comes up and convinces the first of a curse that's placed on her and her family. After this the gullable granny is told the same and is asked to bring all her money and valuables to a designated spot for a cleansing ritual. The bag is then given back, but without the posessions. The police is taking action to prevent this by givin out shopping bags to the elderly in Asian community of S.F. which say "beware of scammers". This technique has proven 80% affective in Hong Kong, and will hopefully deter the scammers and make the targets more aware.
Giant goldfish growing more than 1.5 ft. long have recently been discovered in great numbers in Lake Tahoe. They can present serious problems to the lake, such as affecting it's clarity and algae growth. This problem is believed to be caused by people emptying out fish tanks into the lakes, where the small goldies from your local pet store thrive and reproduce.
A 47 year old San Jose woman Anna Ayala is back in court for another false allegation. She made up a story about a sevored finger found in her Wendy's chili in 2005 and is playing with law again. She lied to police in order to protect her son from being sued for fire arm posession, saying that two men have shot her son in the foot which led to it's amputation. She even gave the officers a good description and possible names of the shooters. After a long investigation the conclusion was that her son shot himself in the foot, and they are probably blaming these people to get compensated. There's a bond of $ 15000 dollars for both, and she is facing 4 years in prison for her second freud attempt.
"Hello, frondesk?", "Yes, how may I help you?", "Ummm the water tastes and smells weird, plus it kind of has black-ish color", "Oh, please don't worry it's just a dead body in one of the water tanks on the roof, we are working to fix it". Sorry it's probably not funny but how freaking weird and random it is. Dead body was found in one of the water tanks of Hotel Cicil in Downtown Los Angeles. How is that for YELP review? belfasttelegraph.co.uk reports:
"“The water did have a funny taste,” said a British guest, Sabrina Baugh. “When you turned the tap on, the water was coming black first for two seconds and then it was going back to normal.” Baugh and her husband had been staying at the Cecil for over a week. “We thought it was just the way it was here,” she later told CNN.
But when one of the Baugh’s fellow residents complained on Tuesday, a maintenance worker was sent to investigate, and in one of the four large, metal water towers on the roof, he made a gruesome discovery: the body of a young woman, lying at the bottom of the tank. The body was soon identified as that of 21-year-old Elisa Lam, a Canadian student, who had been missing for three weeks. The cause of death, said LAPD Sergeant Rudy Lopez, remained uncertain. Foul play had not been ruled out, nor had the possibility of “a very, very strange accident”.
The Cecil has a dark past. Opened in 1927 in what was then a thriving neighbourhood, its fortunes declined along with the rest of downtown Los Angeles. Chris Nichols, an associate editor at Los Angeles magazine, told KPCC that the hotel was the scene of more than one murder in its first decade, “and a woman jumped out a window in the ‘60s”."

On the 19th of February, 1473, a Polish renaissance mathematician was born who changed our entire astrological paradigm by proving that the earth actually revolves around the sun, and does not happen to be the center of the universe, or even our solar system. Today, on his 540th birthday, Google celebrates his life and discovery by displaying his Heliocentric model as the center of Google's universe. Copernicus was born in Poland, as the youngest of four children to a family of two merchants; his father being from Krakow and mother from Torun. He is considered a great polymath of the Renaissance, educated as a mathematician, astrologer, jurist with a doctorate in law, classic scholar, artist, translator, governor and economist. Before his death in 1543, he wrote a famous book which revolutionized science; 'De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium'
Oh man I hope it's not the beginning of the WW3 or the actual end of the world.

8 masked men stole an estimated 50 million worth of diamonds from a Swiss airplane at Brussels' International airport. The thiefs made a hole in the perimeter fence, drove up to the plane in two cars, flashed their weapons, took the loot and drove off through the same hole in the fence. Authorities are shocked, and could not explain how the area could be so vulnerable. “We abide by the most stringent rules,” said airport spokesman Jan Van Der Crujsse. The whole process took them three minutes. Talk about embarrasing.

Even though these billions of dollars could surely be useful in some other areas of our economy (no brainer ha) I think that's a good investment in science project since the human brain is still a mystery to us. Would be cool to know what they find out, hopefully it will help to cure some brain diseases so many people suffer from.
The-scientist.com reports:
'A large-scale effort to understand the human brain and build a comprehensive map of its activity is set to launch with the help of billions of dollars in federal funds. According to the New York Times, President Obama will outline the plan to fund the decade-long Brain Activity Map project in his federal budget proposal, which the White House is slated to release next month. Scientists involved in planning the project hope that it will have the same catalytic effect on brain research as the $3.8 billion Human Genome Project had on genetics, and that it will spur the development of new therapies for various brain diseases.
Harvard molecular biologist George Church, who is part of the planning team, told the Times that the scientists behind the initiative hope to get federal backing to the tune of more than $3 billion over ten years. Church also pointed out that the initiative, if successful, could provide an economic boost, echoing Obama’s message that every dollar invested into human genome mapping returned $140 to the US economy.'
A child of the Depression, Mr. Buss obtained a doctorate in physical chemistry and later prospered in real estate ventures, enabling him to pursue his love of sports. He paid $67.5 million to buy the Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke in a deal that included the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League, the Forum sports arena in Los Angeles and Mr. Cooke’s California ranch. In January, his precious Lakers were valued at $1 billion by Forbes magazine, second in the National Basketball Association to the Knicks’ $1.1 billion value.

During an on-stage rant at a performance for NBA’s All-Star Weekend in Houston Sunday, Lil Wayne took verbal shots at Heat players who he feels were behind throwing him out of a game in Miami last week.
Lil Wayne claims to know the Miami Heat’s Chris Bosh’s wife on a very personal level. During a performance in Houston Sunday night, the rapper explicitly said: “I slept with Chris Bosh’s wife.”
In town for NBA’s All-Star Weekend, Wayne was obviously still upset about getting the boot from a Heat game in Miami last week for cheering the visiting Los Angeles Lakers. But I mean, that's awkwaaaaaard!
The practice has actually been traced as far back as twelfth-century Arabic sources, enjoying a heyday in the Paris markets of the nineteenth century, but most recently seen on a mass-produced scale in Japan, where they’re often marked with the symbol for good health.

Tonya Battle, an African American nurse who has worked at the Hurley Medical Center in Michigan for 25 years, was approached by a white man, who showed her his swastica tattoo and asked to speak to her supervisor, after which he told her that he didn't want black people near his child. The worst part of this is that the hospital has honored the fathers request and even put a note on the nursing clipboard saying "No African-American nurse to take care of this baby". Eventually the note was removed by a hospital lawyer, but Battle was obviously very offended at this incident, and is suing for emotional distress and negative impact on her reputation. Wow, It's unbelievable that this kind of stuff still happens today.

She has been suffering from depression and drug abuse even before, but since her boyfriend David Wilson ended his life in a similar manner a month ago, everything intensified. She was admitted into a treatment facility and her two kids were taken from her care by the Department of human Services. All of these things have unfortunately proved too much for the singer to handle.

Brad decided to go the ultra-romantic route this Valentine's day and get Angie nothing other than some 'EatWhatever' breath mints.
According to a source, it's sort of a joke gift, because he always teases her about having bad breath.
We don't know if Angie liked this joke though. He will probably get her a real present later, considering she always spoils him with nice gifts. Once she got him a $1.6 Million helicopter.
