4Chan, Reddit Got iPad Jerk Booted From Gym
29 jul 2013 02:47
The kind of people who take their iPad to the gym deserve the level of comeuppance that 4Chan and Reddit gave to an asshole who took pictures of his fellow gym rats and taunted them on Facebook. I know being forced to watch ESPN’s HOT SPORTS TAKES WITH SKIP BAYLESS EXCLAMATION POINT can be maddening, but c’mon dude. According to the Daily Dot, “An iPad-wielding Australian man has been banned from his local gym after he covertly captured photos of patrons working out…The unidentified jerk from Queensland, the second-largest state in Australia, was kicked out after 4chan and Reddit users posted screengrabs of the man’s Facebook activity.”

Craigslist Ad Asks If Anyone's Seen Soldier's Dog
29 jul 2013 02:46
We must break away from our regularly scheduled funny Craigslist ad post to talk about one that’s incredibly depressing. Washington-based serviceman Brandon Harker returned from a nine-month tour of Afghanistan to find out that his friend, who was trusted with looking after Harker’s dog Oakley, had given the pup away on Craigslist. According to Harker, via the Examiner, “My friend just said they got rid of him…They never gave me any other explanation. He would say, ‘I don’t know who we gave him to’ and ‘I don’t know their phone number’.” He’s taken to Craigslist to retrieve the adorable two-year-old Labrador retriever. I just recently returned from a 9 month deployment. And upon arrival back into the area I found out my yellow Labrador retriever was either given away or sold while I was gone. I was told this happened in May, but it could have happened anytime from February till June. He is good with kids and other dogs. He has a unique coat, on his face he has spots of a darker yellow (champagne) he also has spots of the same color going down his sides and legs. If anyone has any information on this and can help me please do. I am just trying to get him back to me since he was wrongfully given away or sold with out my permission while I was deployed. I will also be able to verify the dog is mine because he is micro-chipped and registered to me. Once again thank you to everyone who sees this and tries to help. If you could spread the word about this issues that would be great as well. Let’s find this man’s dog, and arrest his so-called friend for treason.

'Operation Last Chance' Wants These 10 Still Alive Nazis
29 jul 2013 02:45
Nazis are more than just people who care way too much about grammar — they’re also real, live humans who once did terrible, terrible things. For more information, consult your local Hogan’s Heroes rerun. Once you’re back, you’ll be in the mood for some NAZI HUNTING, which is exactly what the Simon Wiesenthal Centre wants. Some 2,000 posters popped up yesterday in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, offering a €25,000 [or $33,190] reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of Nazi war criminals. It marks the latest push by the Simon Wiesenthal Centre to locate as-yet unconvicted Third Reich war criminals. The impetus for the campaign, dubbed “Operation Last Chance”, was the Munich trial of former SS guard John Demjanjuk for war crimes at the Sobibor camp in occupied Poland. Though he died last year before his conviction was finalised, it marked a watershed in Nazi trials. In previous decades, German authorities had refused to open an investigation without concrete proof of a specific Nazi-era crime – often a difficult task given the regime’s industrial killing machine. But now German authorities have indicated a willingness to lower the legal hurdle to prosecutions, thus expanding the pool – if diluting the seniority – of potential Third Reich perpetrators still at large. (Via) Here are their 10 most wanted Nazis.

A 'Fox & Friends' Anchor Made Trick Shot Titus Cry
29 jul 2013 02:34
A few things: 1) Toddler basketball prodigy Trick Shot Titus is my dude. He had a YouTube video that blew up, and since then he’s been making the rounds on talk shows and such, just raining buckets and looking adorable. No one speaks ill of him in front of me. NO ONE. 2) I haven’t ruled out the possibility that he has acquired the talent of an NBA player via laser or magic basketball. 3) He appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to put on one of his patented shooting demonstrOH MY GOD LOOK AT HIM IN HIS LITTLE VEST AND TIE LIKE HE’S A TINY BUSINESSMAN OR SOMETHING. 4) After he hit eight shots in a row, Fox & Friends anchor Brian Kilmeade retrieved the bouncing basketball and lobbed it to him, and the ball hit him in the face and made him cry. 5) Brian Kilmeade is history’s greatest monster.

Fox News Drew A Hitler Mustache On Latest Rolling Stone Cover
29 jul 2013 02:33
Much has been made about the new Rolling Stone cover featuring Dzhokhar Tsarnaev looking like a badass rock star. Some people think it’s just a cheap ploy to sell magazines and others think there’s some real journalistic merit to putting him on the cover. Well, Fox News is definitely in the former category. Thursday night on The Five, Greg Gutfeld — who somehow still gets to rant on national television — had some choice words about the cover. He actually made some good points by talking about the article itself being more of a glorification piece than anything really in-depth. Then, of course, Gutfeld took it a step farther by drawing a Hitler mustache and devil horns on the cover. Sigh. In the battle between Fox News and Rolling Stone, it’s pretty clear that we will all end up losing in the end.

4 Unseen Characters Who Need To Be Cast
29 jul 2013 02:33
If Parks and Recreation is ending after its next season, the show’s sixth, then it’s sure as hell going to use as much of NBC’s money as possible. Just this week alone, creator Michael Schur announced that a nice, little chunk of the budget will be spent on guest stars Heidi Klum, as a small-town Denmark mayor, and Henry Winkler, who will play Jean-Ralphio’s dad. And before that, Leslie Knope’s new Eagleton rival, Kristen Bell. This news is (not) the WOOOOOOOORST. Don’t stop now, Ken Tremendous, continue with your casting revelations. After the jump, we have suggestions for who should play two of Parks‘ occasionally mentioned, but never seen characters, as well as other similar ideas from eight different shows.

Aubrey Plaza's 15 Best Non-April Ludgate GIFs
29 jul 2013 02:30
It has unintentionally turned into Aubrey Plaza week around here, what with all the GQ swimsuit spreads, live-action Darias, and masturbation chats. And what better way to keep the party going than with a definitive collection (disclaimer: this collection is in no way definitive) of GIFs real-life April Ludgate has contributed to web culture over the years. Also: a way too convenient excuse for me to continue to enjoy the divisiveness she creates in the comments. Speaking of April, we cover her plenty around here, and since this week has been all about Aubrey Plaza "the actress" and not her iconic people-hating Parks character, none of these GIFs are set in Pawnee, Indiana. Prepare to be charmed by animated disaffection.

Wolverine Vs. Video Games: A Retrospective
29 jul 2013 02:26
The Wolverine is hitting theaters tomorrow, and amazingly, there is no tie-in game. We say "amazingly" because Wolverine has a lengthy, lengthy history of being in video games. In fact, he's been on consoles since the NES days. But while he's been a part of some truly great games with his fellow X-Men, his solo outings have been... less than spectacular, sometimes. Here's a look back at Wolvie's solo titles; we hope his emotions have a healing factor. For the sake of not writing a book, we stuck solely to solo titles; Wolverine has not only been in literally every X-Men video game, he's often the default character. Besides, Cyclops gets shown up enough.

'47 Ronin' Is Basically 'Lord Of The Rings', But Japanese
29 jul 2013 02:25

Imagine, if you will, a movie about the Alamo that features a Bollywood actor with a steampunk missile launcher killing Mexican cyborg assassins, led by a ninja who’s really an alien. That’s pretty much what 47 Ronin is doing to a Japanese national legend, much to the amusement of the Japanese. It’s kind of a shame, actually, because this looks pretty good for what it is: A big-budget version of a high-fantasy wuxia movie, only with all the pretentious trappings Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon made mandatory dumped in favor of CGI. OK, so it doesn’t look like a classic, but that said…

Supercut Video: All Of Hugh Jackman's Screaming As The Wolverine
29 jul 2013 02:23
The Wolverine opens tomorrow, and one thing we’re certain to see is plenty of Hugh Jackman screaming. Over the past 13 years, Hugh Jackman has scowled and screamed and SNIKT’d his way through seven movies as Wolverine if you include the not-yet-released X-Men: Days Of Future Past and The Wolverine. Six movies if you pretend X-Men Origins: Wolverine never happened. Yeah. Six movies. Let’s stick with that. Now Abraham Riesman at Vulture has compiled a supercut which documents the full extent of Hugh Jackman’s frequent screaming as the Wolverine. Check out Vulture’s evidence below, with a welcome surprise at the end.

'The Wolverine' Should Have Had Less Ambition
29 jul 2013 02:20
The Wolverine is a surprising movie in some respects. Not in terms of the plot; there’s pretty much nothing in this movie that you won’t see coming. But rather in terms of how brutal it’s willing to be, and how much it lets Hugh Jackman play to his strengths. Unfortunately, the third act throws ninjas and a giant robot at us, and nearly derails the whole thing. It’s a familiar plot, mind you; a tough guy, stuck in a foreign land, struggling with his past decisions, and discovering the means to move on and some asses to kick. It’s a sturdy form, though, and it’s perfectly suited for the strengths of its lead.

Fox News Hits New Low With Reza Aslan Interview
28 jul 2013 22:56
f Fox News‘ new strategy is to cover their ears and scream, “LALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU LALALA” at their invited guests, they’re doing a bang up job. The home of the World’s Loudest Opinions continued their shame spiral toward their inevitable future on Friday during a chat with scholar Reza Aslan, the author of Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth. For you see, Aslan is a Muslim, so why would HE be interested in Christianity. That was an actual question. “You’re a Muslim, so why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?” asked Lauren Green, to which Aslan replied, “Well, to be clear, I am a scholar of religions with four degrees, including one in the New Testament, and fluency in biblical Greek, who has been studying the origins of Christianity for two decades, who also just happens to be a Muslim.” “Yeah, well,” Green was thinking, “I have a Jewish friend.” (No, she doesn’t.) It only gets worse and worse the longer it goes on, culminating with Green accusing Aslan, who increasingly takes the tone of an exasperated parent explaining something obvious to their child, of never disclosing he’s a Muslim. Um, no: “Ma’am, the second page of my book says I’m a Muslim. Every single interview I have ever done on TV or in print says I’m a Muslim.” At no point does Fox News realize the irony of persecuting someone over their religion in a discussion about Jesus, and everyone is now dumber.

DJ Khaled Proposed to Nicki Minaj And Was Actually Serious [VIDEO]
28 jul 2013 12:52
In a bizarre move that’s actually not close enough to his album dropping to be considered just a publicity stunt, DJ Khaled proposed to Nicki Minaj on video. Except Minaj wasn’t even there. In an interview with MTV News, Khaled “I love you, I like you. I want you, I want you to be mine.” Khaled then explained why he was on TV doing this. “I’m at MTV because it’s a worldwide network,” he said. “Why am I not telling you this face to face? Because I understand that you’re busy.” Oh. Skype wasn’t an option, boo? Then he brought out the big guns — and a big rock. “I’ma be honest with you, I wanna marry you. “Nicki Minaj, will you marry me?” Khaled swears he’s serious. “We got the same symptoms, we both suffer from success. You’re out touring, you hustle, you make music — you’re winning. I understand,” he said emphatically. “That’s You need a man like me in your life that’s gonna take care of you and respect you.” Oh boy. The camera cuts away for a split second and Khaled concedes, “You gotta take the time to think about it, I understand … I want your fans to know, my fans to know, my family, your family,” he stammered, “that I want to marry you.” (Doesn’t the fact that “fans” preceded “family” sort of reek of thirst, though?) “I worked hard to get this ring,” he added, perhaps thinking a dose of guilt would trick the former ‘American Idol’ judge into thinking she owes him something. “A year ago I wanted to tell you,” Khaled added. “On the ‘Take It to the Head’ video … things got better for me. I was preparing for this,” he said, pointing to the bling. “Nicki Minaj … will you marry me?” We’re gonna speak for Minaj and say probably not. She did retweet a post including the video but has yet to actually respond. She’s been openly dating Safaree Samuels for a while and has never been too desperate for press, so we’re gonna call this a wash.

Gaga Goes Dark and Makeup Free as an Old Lana Del Rey Song Surfaces
28 jul 2013 12:50
A Lana Del Ray song from four years ago leaked this week, and the track takes aim at Lady Gaga — but Mother Monster is too busy dying her hair black and being fierce and makeup free to notice. The song, titled ‘So Legit,’ throws serious shade at Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) for going mainstream, with lyrics like, “You’re looking like a man / You’re talking like a baby / How the f– is your song in a coke commercial, crazy? / I don’t get it / Your taste once exquisite” If anyone was confused about who the song was talking about, Gaga’s fellow New York native then croons, “Stefani, you suck I know you’re selling 20 million / Wish they could have seen you when we booed you off in Williamsburg” / “Oh girl, I see you walking round in your pearls / Thinking that you’re number one / You’re so funny / Cause honey you’re not” And just to drive the point home, she finishes with, “What happened to Brooklyn? / What happened to the scene / Baby, have we all gone Gaga crazy?” But if Gaga is feeling the burn, you’d never know. She seems pretty preoccupied gearing up for the release of her album ARTPOP, being the highest paid celeb under 30, posing nude for V Magazine, and — as you can see above — going fresh-faced for photos (rocking newly dark hair, to boot). Take a Listen:

William and Kate Had a Royal Baby, Look at All the Shrugs We Give

So Prince William and his wifey Kate Middleton had a baby this week, and it was kind of a big deal for, like, everyone. It’s not just a regular baby, guys — it’s a royal baby. And sure, he’s cute and all, but wake us up from our boredom-nap when you guys give birth to dragons like the Khaleesi on ‘Game of Thrones.’ (Now that’s some royal business we can get behind.) But anyway, yeah. The royals had a baby, and for every person who was excited, there were at least 10 who couldn’t have cared less (a few of them around here). If you’re one of them, enjoy the indifferent shrugs below.

Meet Rafe Spall, the British Star of ‘I Give it a Year’
28 jul 2013 12:44
There’s a great little romantic comedy that you might have heard people buzzing about — it’s called ‘I Give it a Year,’ and while the entire cast is simply aces, we’ve got to hand it to the leading cutie pie Rafe Spall, who delivers some extra swoon-factor. In ‘I Give it a Year,’ Spall portrays a playful guy married to a more serious, career-driven wife. No one thinks it will last, especially when both of them wind up meeting people who are perfect for them. It’s a fun, unexpected twist on the romantic comedy genre, and Spall proves he can play the swoony leading man, no problem. And damn, guys, he’s really cute. You can catch ‘I Give it a Year’ via most cable OnDemand services or rent it on iTunes. You won’t regret it. Spall has also appeared in ‘The Life of Pi’ and ‘Prometheus,’ and appears with Rachel Weisz in the upcoming stage play ‘Betrayal.’ He’s not quite a big deal in the acting world just yet, but his star is definitely on the rise, and you’ll be seeing a lot more of this guy pretty soon.

Damian Lewis, the Hunk from ‘Homeland’
28 jul 2013 12:43
Whoever said redheads aren’t cute clearly never saw a picture of Damian Lewis — because that statement is simply inaccurate. The actor and star of Showtime’s ‘Homeland‘ is seriously hot. On the hit series ‘Homeland,’ Damian Lewis plays Nicholas Brody, a former marine who goes rogue when he’s kidnapped by terrorists and turns on his, uh, homeland. He spends the first two seasons trying to outsmart a sexy but mentally unstable CIA agent, played by Claire Danes, before the two end up working together because apparently USA means nothing to this dude, but having bonkers sex with Claire Danes is totally worth some honor. Lewis is a British actor, which you might never know if you only saw him on ‘Homeland’ — his American accent is perfect. He also starred in the recently-released British indie crime comedy ‘The Sweeney,’ and he played another military man on the HBO mini-series ‘Band of Brothers.’ Up next, you can catch Lewis in the new ‘Romeo and Juliet’ movie, in which he plays Lord Capulet, Juliet’s daddy.

Experience A Glorious Mash-Up Of Beats, Movies & Melody
28 jul 2013 12:17
West Australian producer and remix artist Nick Bertke aka Pogo has stunned us with his ability to take snippets of films and craft them into lush audio soundscapes with amazing visuals to match. His artworks which he modestly describes as mashups span everything from Pixar to Pulp Fiction. His creations take weeks of meticulous planning and editing and as you can see, the results are a sight (and sound) to behold. I’ve seen many agencies now try to copy what it is we do, but their failure is always in the assumption that it’s a formula to be mimicked and not an artwork that in fact took many weeks of craft and musical composition. The result of that assumption is generally nothing more than a messy, meaningless edit with neither soul nor sense that was probably formulated by 20 board members in an afternoon. Proof that you really do get out what you put in. See him rework Lord Of The Rings & turn Pulp Fiction into a sonic melting pot of gloriousness.

Extraordinary Photos Document 40 Years On The London Tube
28 jul 2013 12:16
If asked to describe the London Underground, the majority of commuters would use words like “dirty” “cramped” “sweaty” and “usually late” to summaries one of the institutions of British culture. But there’s more to London’s dark tunnels of congestion and dust than meets the eye – you can thank documentary photographer Bob Mazzer for that. During the 1970′s and into the 1980′s, like many he spent virtually every day traversing the train lines and ‘minding the gap’. But unlike most commuters who were solely focused on getting from A to B, he used his time to photograph and document a side of British culture rarely seen or celebrated. “You don’t think you are starting a project, but one day you look back over your recent pictures and there are a dozen connected images, and you realise it is the beginning of a project – and then you fall in love with it. For a while in the eighties, I lived with my father in Manor House and worked as a protectionist at a porn cinema in Kings Cross. It was called The Office Cinema, so guys could call their wives and say, ‘I’m still at the office.’” Every day, I travelled to Kings Cross and back. Coming home late at night, it was like a party and I felt the tube was mine and I was there to take pictures.” His evocative images showcase a society brimming with all manner of unique individuals, from punks to drunks, models to housewives, blue-collar workers to religious zealots, from chain smokers craving that nicotine fix, to lovers craving each other and pretty much everything in between. See Bob’s latest adventures over on his Flickr profile.

Here’s A Collection Of Kooky Vintage Smoking Devices | So Bad So Good
28 jul 2013 12:16
If you feel like killing yourself slowly and expensively, smoking is a good option. In short, it’s a really bad idea, but when it comes to these odd and kooky inventions the reverse is true. Designed in an era long before lung cancer lawsuits and an admission that passive smoking and smoking in general is extremely damaging, these devices were created with the affluent smoker in mind. There’s cigarette holders that bizarrely span several meters, allow you to smoke twice as many in half time, some even push smoke above your head away from any high society conversations you might be having.Yes there’s even a smoking device catering to couple who love their nicotine and tar fix. But probably the most amusing is the “all weather” cigarette holder, complete with a tiny umbrella so that no matter what the conditions you can continue to puff away. Unless you find yourself anywhere near even the remotest gust of wind.

What Does Your Handwriting Reveal About Your Personality?
28 jul 2013 12:16
‘Graphology’ is known as ‘the pseudoscientific study and analysis of handwriting’, forensic scientists & supporters of this method use it to decipher the personality and psychotic state of individuals. The basic premise is that your central nervous system is responsible for the way your muscles move and react when writing. Graphologists seek to evaluate the moment, form, consistency, quality and pattern generated by your stroke and then use that as a basis for psychological interpretation. In theory it can provide a snapshot into the mind of individuals who many have written suicide notes or death threats – to serve as validation of their genuineness. But is it scientifically accurate? Or down to the wild interpretations of a few? There’s 3 unique interpretations of graphology, they are known as the holistic approach, the integrative approach and finally the symbolic approach. But what is the difference between each? Integrative Graphology is less interpretative and more analytical. It looks for common themes such as a cluster of stroke formations, how close the words are spaced, how tall the capital letters are etc to score a specific personality trait. Holistic Graphology is a little more free-flowing, it looks at individual traits, such as legibility but doesn’t assigned specific meanings to them. Instead the traits of someones handwriting are taken into account based on the overall context of the page. And finally, Symbolic Analysis takes a metaphorical view of handwriting – it’s probably the most vague of all, assigning the shape and form of words to some kind of trauma or event. For example John Wayne’s autograph highlights a darkened area that has been interpreted as representing his lung cancer. Who is to say whether that is right or wrong? Whether you believe the ‘science’ or not, it is still unquestionable a fascinating area to explore. It turns out when it comes to your own handwriting, whilst its distinct to you, there are universal traits hidden inside the written word that define who you are. Here’s a few examples, have a look and tell us if you agree…

Visitors are equipped with a 700 gram 'model gun' that has thirty virtual bullets before they enter in groups of eight. The attraction has two stages. First one has two routs, the Racoon City Police Department and the Hospital. When the first stage is cleared the group enters the Umbrella Research Center for some serious action. The goal is obviously to shoot the zombies and other creatures that pop out at you at every corner in the final battle to eradicate the virus. The whole thing takes around ten minutes and is one of the scariest and unforgettable experiences out there. Check out these pics.

Mesmerizing Graffiti GIF of "Hypnocat"
26 jul 2013 12:20
In a university hall in Santiago, Chile, there is a graffiti work depicting an intricately illustrated, colorful cat. It has drawn the attention of a few passersby on its own but since a copy of its image was shared digitally, the internet has transformed the stationary stenciled work into a mesmerizing gif now widely revered as Hypnocat. The entrancing animated image making its rounds on the internet plays on the spellbinding character Hypnotoad from the animated television show Futurama. Much like the hypnotic dancing eyes of the cartoon amphibian, this Hypnocat's psychedelic body has all that come in contact with it chanting "ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOCAT." While the identity of the artist behind the original work is unconfirmed, the mural appears to be tagged by a Chilean street artist who goes by the moniker pos 420. Check out the original wall mural, below.

These special shoes had a triangular groove in the heels that caught onto a bolt sticking out of the stage floor which allowed Jackson and his dancers to lean forward beyond the center of gravity. The King of Pop used this gravity defying illusion to wow audiences in live performances of the song “Smooth Criminal.”
