Copenhagen’s Distinct Architecture Knit into Color-Blocked Urban Landscapes by Jake Henzler

Instead of writing or illustrating a journal to record his excursions, Sydney-based artist Jake Henzler knits colorful memories of urban landscapes into huge pieces of art. The artist goes by the name of “‘Boy Knits World”’ on Instagram and crafts quilt-like panels of urban spaces that he comes across whilst traveling.

I’ve Made A Fine Art Museum For My Guinea Pig, And She Seems To Have Enjoyed It

What happens when you have ample free time and need to distract yourself from uncontrollable life events? Well, you create an art gallery for your pet (naturally). I was inspired by the gerbil art museum created by Filippo and Marianna. I’ve seen just one screenshot of the museum posted on Imgur and was immediately motivated to create some art for my own furry rodent friend. I needed a project I could channel all of my energy into.

Some look astonishingly real, as if there actually is a beautiful butterfly perched delicately on the skin. People make a lot of cool stuff from colored pencils. And when Burls Art saw them, he decided to take it up an octave. "I saw a lot of people online making bowls out of colored pencils and I thought that was really cool but I wanted to make something that I can actually utilize and enjoy more so than a bowl when it’s finished. Since I play guitar, I thought this would be a cool project. I decided on making a Stratocaster styled electric guitar"

Although we are sure he could make beautiful art using a variety of tools, he often chooses to create amazing pictures using pencils alone.

I've been drawing since I knew how to hold a pen. I’m fond of geek and pop culture and the most enjoyable thing for me is revisiting the heroes of my childhood. Fictional characters are very different from one another - they have different forms, they are made of different unearthly substances, and lastly, they are different colors. That's why I tried to classify some of the most popular fictional characters by color.
